(This. . . . this might prove to be a big problem for us. Because no matter how you look at it, we are trying to bring about the future that could not have been observed even by someone who possessed the ability allowing him to see the future.)

If the person who could see the future claimed that he did not see the future in which they managed to succeed, then it would literally have to mean that the possibility of making such a future happen was literally zero. That it was a certainty that could not be changed with something as simple as trial and error, and since Krishna is definitely not going to turn out to be the kind of a betting man who would be willing to put his money on something so dangerously uncertain, then Izayoi had no choice but to shake his head with a bitter smile.

「I am only going to say this for now: whether you manage to convince him to join us or not is going to depend entirely on your efforts in the future. But enough about that for now, and let us move on. Who is the third person that you had in mind? Of course, when it comes to the funding of your plan you do not have to limit yourself to just one person, but is there anyone whom you absolutely want to get in on this project of ours no matter what?」

「Yes. And if we manage to secure the cooperation of this third person, then winning over the support and backing of the pope of the Roman Catholic Church should not be as difficult as it would have been without them.」

Izayoi was genuinely surprised by that statement of his, mostly because he himself had no idea who in the world the third person that Homura would need in order for his plan to succeed could be. If he was thinking about someone who would be ready and willing to invest in perpetual motion, then there was literally a mountainload of candidates who would fit that bill. So maybe Homura was actually looking for someone who could be their reliable partner whom they would be able to consult with at any given moment? But then again, he not only said that it was someone whom he had his eyes on for a while, but also someone who could make it easier for them to secure the cooperation of the pope of the Roman Catholic Church for themselves.

「The person that you are thinking of must be an even bigger big shot than the pope, then. I hope that you are not forgetting that the pope is not someone whom ordinary citizens could meet up with just because they want it. And even if by some miracle we do manage to meet with him, then there is no telling if he is going to be honest with us, or is he going to keep his true intentions hidden all the time.」

「I realize that full well. And that is exactly why the third person that I recommend is someone with direct ties to the pope himself someone with whom he would not need to keep his true intentions hidden or be deceitful.」

Apparently Homura was really serious about this if his preparations were that detailed. However. . . .

Izayoi leaned forward, and looked at Homura with suspicious eyes.

「Are you really sure about what you just said? Because let me clarify something. When I said that the pope is not someone whom people could easily meet with, I really meant it. As in, even if Canaria were to request a meeting with him, it probably would not fly.」

「Eh? Really?!」

Homura was genuinely surprised, and Kuro Usagi and Suzuka looked just as shocked to hear that as he was. But that shock lasted only for a little while. Homura shook his head to get any needless thoughts out of it, cleared his throat and. . . . . . . . .

「W-Well, when you put it like that then I have to admit that it is making me somewhat worried. . . . . . . . but nevertheless, I still think that as long as we manage to get that third person to join us, then they should still make it possible to at least gat us to meet with the pope.」

If Homura really is so confident that he can make it possible to have them actually meet the pope, then in comparison to that, convincing him to support their plans of building the Environmental Control Towers should be relatively easy, because that should be a matter of simply getting the pope to trust them, and there should definitely be more than one way for them to do that. That is why Izayoi agreed to follow along with Homura’s plan, even if he remained fairly skeptical of it. But putting aside whether or not he believed that Homura’s plan actually has a chance to work and if he should follow it or not, he urged him to continue on with his speech.

「Okay, that leaves us with that last person that we are going to need on our side, the ones who is going to be responsible for 「the financial resources for the plan」. The person who is going to be chosen for that role cannot just be someone who is just filthy rich, and of course, people who are in any way, shape or form related to the mafia or any other criminal organization are absolutely out of the question.」

「Ohh, so I guess that ban includes Chinese mafia and the like, right? A bit of a shame though, because there is this one Chinese mafia boss whom I know who happens to be a pretty dependable guy. . . .」

「Pffffffft. . . . .! ! ! ! ! ! ! !」

Homura violently spilled all of the contents of the cup of tea that he was in the middle of drinking.

「A. . . . . . . Are you an idiot?! Of course someone like that is absolutely out of the question! The Environmental Control Towers are essentially going to be Third Class Perpetual Motion Engines! If we allow the elements from the dark side of society such as mafia or yakuza to invest their money into our project, then that would mean that the energy interests would have to be transferred to them as well! And if word ever got out that such shady people are involved in what is essentially going to become the management of the entire human race, then the entire endeavor would suffer from an unrepairable social stigma!」

「Ahhh, if that is the case then that would really be no good. It is exactly like you said: as long as energy interests are involved, it would be really bad if the one who became the majority shareholders for the project were shady people who could not be trusted.」

「Of course it would be bad, and I do not even want to know what made you think that dealing with the mafia would be good in the first place. It is true that I want the third person to be the one from China, but it would have to be someone who would provide a different type of connection than the ones offered by the Chinese mafia. . . . anyway, I will tell you more about it later in greater details.」

Homura cleared his throat one more time and then went back to his talk.
「The third person we are going to need on our side needs to be someone who is going to be a rich man involved in all three of the activities: investment, research and development of Star Particle Bodies along with the CEO of Everything Company and who at the same time is going to be entrusted with the role of being our pipeline with the pope of the Roman Catholic Church.」

「Uwaaaaaaah. . . . ! ! ! This means that whoever they are, they are going to have quite lot riding on their shoulders!」

「M-More importantly, does such a convenient person even exist?!」

Suzuka and Kuro Usagi both could not stop them selves from thinking when did Homura had the time to obtain information about such people, and more importantly, where did he find those information?
