Last Embryo Volume 6 Chapter 4 Part 6
(. . . . Well, knowing Shiroyasha, she probably would have been eager to take the fight to them instead of just waiting for the trials to commence, all for Little Garden’s sake and that is why she definitely would have objected to what we are trying to do here, and her objections are definitely not the thing that I would have liked to hear right now.)
As far as Tokuteru was aware, any kind of interference from a Divine Spirit would have been utterly meaningless in that case no matter how badly they would want to help or how genuine their intentions would have been. And yet, despite that, Homura said that there might be a solution to this problem that can be achieved with the help of a Divine Spirit. Of course, he has already considered such a possibility himself, but if anyone asked him right now then he would not have been able to deny that he was genuinely fascinated by what kind of possibility Saigo Homura, who was effectively representing humanity in its entirety right now managed to think of.
「It would seem that you still have some interesting things left to say. Very well then, I am listening. Exactly what kind of method to saving the world from its predicament you brothers managed to come up with?」
「For the time being, that is still a secret. Instead, let me ask you a question before we continue: Did you talk to Big Bro Iza about the example of Oda Nobunaga that you talked about with him before?」
Homura asked Tokuteru while pointing to the words 「Oda Nobunaga」written at the very top of his memo pad with the pen that he was holding. He wanted to know if Tokuteru and Izayoi talked some more about the topic that they have started to talk about when they were in the hot springs together two years ago.
「We certainly did, but the content of our talk was almost exactly the same as back then, so. . . . . . 」
「So Big Bro Iza knows about this?」
「Of course. After all, the complete disappearance of all of Oda Nobunaga’s from the pages of history is treated as a single historical turning point . . . . .」
「Ah, that is really interesting and all, but it is not important to me right now. What I want to know is 「Are Oda Nobunaga’s that were summoned to Little Garden all different beings?」And if they are not, then just how much do they actually differ from one another?」
Tokuteru made a slightly surprised face at Homura’s specific questions and the way that he worded them. He tilted his head, wondering what meaning does that have in relation to what they were currently discussing, and then he proceeded to answer Homura’s question.
「Just how much do they differ from one another, you ask? No matter how you would look at it . . . . . . . the only way in which I can describe them is that they are completely different people. They have nothing in common with each other, differing even in things such as the shape of their faces and the physicality of their bodies.」
「Is that so? So, they are all different from one another, period? Down the level of the structure of their DNA?」
「Correct. Out of all the Oda Nobunagas, there is not even one that would be exactly the same in any aspect as all the other ones.」
Homura took his memo and smiled faintly when he heard Tokuteru’s confirmation of what he himself has already suspected. He then added a few more notes onto the memo.
「I see, I see. So in short, on conceptual level, they are all different people from alternate worlds with the only common thing between them being the name of 「Oda Nobunaga」? And the reason for that is because what forms Little Garden is not The Parallel World Theory, but rather The Interchanging Parallel World Theory . . . . .? Oh shit, I am trying to calculate it all with simple calculations, but even with them, the sheer scale of the World of Little Garden is already shaping up to be something truly unbelievable . . . . .!」
Homura said while his face was getting increasingly sterner as he was writing a formula after a formula on the parchment he was holding. And when he finally arrived at the answer that he was looking for, he lifted the parchments so that everyone gathered in the resting area could see it and then he read it out loud.
「In general, it can be said that the multiverse observed from the World of Little Garden is not the one made out of 「infinite parallel worlds」but rather the one in which 「infinite parallel worlds」are merely a standard unit of value. Instead of the flow of time branching out from one singular universe similarly to how smaller rivers and streams branch out from a greater river, it would be more accurate to say that all of these universes continue to exist and branch out infinitely, and the flow of time can be observed simultaneously within all of them. If all of them can be observed and interfered with indefinitely and at the same time, then the number of universes that can be observed from The World of Little Garden is very likely to be much lesser than the number of particles that it actually contains. . . . .. and that means that if their probability of existence is going to be too low, they are just going to disappear. And the same principle can be applied to Divine Spirits themselves. No matter how powerful they originally are, if the probability of their existence became too low or too thinned out due to how divided it had become, then they would surely become the size of something that would be even smaller than perhaps even a single particle.」
Homura then paused for a bit and looked at the parchment that he filled with all these calculations with a somewhat bitter expression. Even those these species are counted as the strongest ones in Little Garden, they have lost much of the true power they were supposed to be holding because of all the restrictions that have been placed upon them. So it is highly possible that the 『Origin』 Candidates were created for the purpose of fixing all of these restrictions acting like literal shackles.
「Hmmm. . . you seem to have put quite a lot of thought into it, which is commendable in its own right, but I am afraid that right now we are straying further and further into the territory that is related to the premise of The World of Little Garden and its rules as a whole, and these are the things that do not have anything to do with us personally in the current moment or the situation that we are in, right?」
「Is that really so? Because this Kuro Usagi thought that everything that Mister Homura was talking about was all extremely interesting, even more so since this was my first time hearing about a lot of those things.」
Kuro Usagi’s rabbit ears then confirmed her words by twitching with an *USAAA!!!* sound.
「Yes, because as long as we continue to exist in the same ring and on the same scale as Little Garden, then we are not going to be placed in danger, so there is nothing for us to be worried about. And that is because nothing like that would even have been possible if Little Garden did not have that kind of power form the very beginning of its existence, and that is the least that I was able to confirm with the knowledge of Little Garden and its rules and limitations that has been bestowed to be by Tokuteru. And speaking of him, he might be right about this matter not being all that relevant to our current predicament, so with that in mind, let us move on to the next point of interest on my list.」
Deciding that it would indeed be best to continue the conversation about this particular subject some other time, Homura proceeded to talk about the other thing that he placed on his memo pad.
Certainly, as long as Little Garden itself does not become their enemy, then doing something like investigating the exact scale of the World of Little Garden as a whole seemed meaningless and counterproductive, so postponing it until much later seemed to be the most reasonable thing to do here.
