Last Embryo Volume 6 Chapter 4 Part 8
Homura then proceeded to show the picture he swiped back to Suzuka and the others. And what was displayed on the LCD screen of his smartphone. . . . . . . . . was a list of all of the organizations working under the United Nations jurisdiction, complete with the image of the symbols that represented them. And the symbol that Homura was thinking about all this time. . . . . . was the one that depicted a snake coiling around a staff. When Suzuka saw that symbol, everything suddenly clicked into place in her mind, and she slammed her hands together to emphasize it.
「A United Nations-affiliated organization with a symbol corresponding to the Ophiuchus constellation. . . . of course! The World Health Organization! So that is what you had in mind?! WHO?!」
「Yes, exactly! The symbol of a snake coiling around a wand, in other words, The Caduceus Wand is said to be the representation of the thirteenth constellation of the Zodiac, and that in turn makes it something related to the Sun Authorities, and it is also very likely that its owner is also participating in this Game!」
WHO, World Health Organization is one of the most important organizations working under United Nations. It was exactly that organization that came up and developed The Smallpox Eradication Program in the year nineteen sixty seven, and the feat that they have managed to achieve because of it: a complete eradication of smallpox from the face of the earth was an unparalleled accomplishment even in the light of human history as a whole and deserved all the praise that it could get. So if they manage to get their hands on something that might give them the ability to exert their influence over such a renowned organization, then their whole plan of saving the world would definitely begin to move.
「Then. . . . then. . . . . what is our next move going to be? Finding Ophiuchus’s owner and convincing him to help us?!」
「Yes, that is what I had in mind. And I think that our first step towards achieving that goal should be. . . .」
「If that was going to be the next thing on your agenda then rest easy, ‘cause there is no need for you to do it.」
Perhaps it was because of the heated discussion between all of them here in the resting area, but none of them even noticed when did Izayoi appeared behind them, so when he heard his voice behind his back without any kind of prior warning, Homura just jumped up really high due to how spooked he was just now.
「B-Big Bro Iza?! What the hell are you doing here?! And more importantly, is it okay for you to be up so soon?! Should you not keep on resting for a lot longer considering how dire your condition is?!」
「Perhaps I should, but I say: to hell with what the doctor has ordered. As long as I can stand on my own too feet without having anyone else keeping me in a straight line, then I would say that I am as fit as a fiddle. And besides, thanks to our lovely Leader, I had more than my fair share of rest, so I will definitely have to thank Kasukabe later when she gets back.」
Izayoi said something that seemed to be completely out of character for him with as straight of a face as he could have had, but everyone who was present in the room at the current moment knew him well enough to know that this calm demeanor of his was just a façade under which he must have been fuming with rage at You who has done him dirty like that and so they felt a chill run down their spines when they were unsure if Izayoi is going to stay put or perhaps he will go chasing after You to pay her back for what she did to him, and he certainly would have done that under different circumstances, but since he was actually still feeling the aftereffects of that blow to his solar plexus that she dealt to him, he simply shook his head to the sides a few times while holding onto his stomach.
「*Sigh*. . . . . . well, fuck it, if anyone is to be blamed for my current condition, then it is definitely me. It was my fault that I have gotten so weak to the point where Kasukabe was able to one-punch the living shit out of me. It annoys me to no end to say it, but just this once I am willing to graciously get Miss Leader off the hook. But only this once.」
(*Phew. . . . !*)
Kuro Usagi breathed a sigh and touched her chest with her hand in a gesture of relief. She was afraid that thanks to Izayoi they would have a whole another problem to deal with, but fortunately he must have quickly understood the situation and reckoned that it would ill-advised to be pursuing his personal vendettas at the current moment.
「Hmm. . . So anyway, it would seem that you have started talking about something rather interesting while I was dozing off, huh? And you know what? I have to hand it to you, Homura, because it never even crossed my mind to consider thinking about Little Garden and its laws from the angle that you have looked at it.」
「R-Really?」
「Yeah, and I am not even shitting you here, I am dead serious. Boy am I glad that I have decided to come here right away after I woke up before going anywhere else.」
Izayoi walked to the table where Homura placed all of the parchments that he has filled with various terms and formulas and started looking over them with very serious eyes. Since Homura was (for the most part) a normal human, it was really refreshing to see his outlook on Little Garden.
In this regard, Izayoi guessed that the saying that it takes looking at things through the perspective of other people for your own outlook on certain things to change as well was definitely true. And it was even more true since Homura’s and Izayoi’s outlooks, not only on Little Garden, but on life as a whole as well could not have been more different since the two of them were two completely different breeds of people who specialized in the things that were as far away from each other like fire and water, earth and moon, or light and dark. As for Homura himself, having Izayoi look over the notes that he has prepared with such intensely focused expression was something that he honestly did not expect, so he looked away from him shyly, feeling he might not have endured it for long if he kept on looked at him in such an unusually serious state. Then, after reading about halfway through it, he laughed a little and smiled while putting his hand on his chin.
「. . . . I see, so you were planning to go for the World Health Organization, huh? Makes sense.」
「Yeah, I figured that if we have to start somewhere, than that would be the choice with the biggest probability of success. On the other hand, you look as if your head was still dizzy, Big Bro Iza.」
「Thanks for pointing out the obvious. I realize that right now sleep and rest are what I need the most, but what you are discussing here is too important for me to pass out on it, and looking at your notes and reading through them is a great way of keeping myself conscious even though the rest of my body is telling to go the fuck back to sleep. . . but looking over that plan of yours now, I think that you can proceed according to it even while I am still in such a sorry state, so who knows, maybe I actually am going to catch a few more z’s of my own will?」
Izayoi said while sitting cross-legged next to Homura and slapping his knees with his palms. He laughed with his usual 「Yahaha!」laugh and continued reading through the parchments, but something in his words caused Homura’s face to become all stiff.
「What is it, Big Bro Iza? Did you have a plan of your own in case I failed to make up a one that would have lived up to your expectations? Or is it the other way around and you really had no plan of your own so the one that I have came up with is a literal godsend to you?」
