Last Embryo Volume 6 Interlude Part 3
* * *
The night breeze blows through the village.
Aiming to appear in the village of the natives of Atlantis during the time when Sakamaki Izayoi and the rest of his friends will definitely not be around to bother him for a good while, a gentleman-like looking man, James, stood in front of one of the village’s huts while emptying the ash from his pipe onto the ground. Once he was done with that, he shook the remains of the ash from his black trench coat and opened the hut’s door and laughed silently when he saw a giant of a man who was sitting on his bed, cross-legged.
「Oh my, I hope my arrival at such a late hour did not wake you up, Heracles.」
「. . .What a rude fellow you are. Is that the first thing you should be saying to someone whom you are meeting for the very first time?」
Heracles spoke to James while scratching the wounds under his bandages. He was wounded and bandaged all over his entire body, and him being in such a sorry state was a result of him getting tricked and manipulated by Krishna so that he would start rampaging while his body was out of his control, and he was only stopped when Sakamaki Izayoi activated the B.D.A for the very first time and defeated him easily because of it. This only doubled the shame he was feeling right now, because all of that happened while he was sent to Atlantis as one of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority’s Organizers and a key figure for the 『Lost Continent of Atlantis』 Gift Game.
However, James paid no heed to the state that he was in, sucking in the smoke from his freshly refilled pipe while laughing and shaking his head with a somewhat uneasy expression.
「Forgive me if I offended you. My friends often tell me things like: 「You tend to speak way too casually with the people whom you are meeting for the very first time, you should learn to be a little bit more polite and considerate of other people’s circumstances」.」
「You have some really good friends then if they are offering you advice like that. I suggest you to start putting that one into practice right away.」
Heracles responded sarcastically to James, who offered him a weak smile and a shrug of his shoulders in return before switching to his serious mode and continuing.
「All right, that should be enough for small talk. Allow me to introduce myself properly. I am an exclusive Game Maker working with 『Uroboros』. Everyone calls me James.
「What. . . . ? ? !」
「Whoa! Now, let us not do anything rush that we might end up regretting, and save that up for later, okay? And besides, now that the Game is officially underway, you have to behave as would befit an Organizer, correct?」
「. . . Yes, you are not wrong about that.」
「Fufu, I am so glad to hear it. It is going to make telling you everything that I want to tell you that much easier.」
James shook his head, glad that there was no need for them to engage in any kind of needless violence after all. On the other hand, Heracles knew from all the years of his experience that he should absolutely not listen to whatever the kind of man like James wanted to say to him, because whatever it was, it would definitely be no good. The man like him, they are the ones who only tend to spit lies and poisonous words from their mouths whenever they start talking, so the first thing that Heracles wanted to do was to forcefully close that mouth of his, preferably by breaking it and restrain him so that he would not be able to move, but unfortunately James beat him to the punch with his words.
「Look, it is clear as day that you do not trust me at all, so allow me to say something that is going to change that negative outlook of yours, okay? I. . . I have already satisfied the Victory Conditions for the currently ongoing first stage of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority.」
「What. . . What did you just say . . . ! ! ? ? ?」
Heracles’s movements came to a stop when he was overcome with astonishment. If this man claims that he has satisfied the Victory Conditions for the first stage of the war. . . then it means that he has unraveled 「The Mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration」, which can be said to be the absolute basis of the entire Greek Mythology.
James then took out three pieces of parchment and threw them in front of Heracles without even looking at them. They stuck to his face, and once he took them off, he saw that they were the Geass Rolls marked with the official seal of the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority’s Organizational Committee.
「We were actually the first ones to arrive at 「The Pillars of Heracles」and so we managed to obtain the information on the remaining stone monuments. . . . . . . . well, to be completely honest with you, we only managed to obtain like three pieces of information, but it was more than enough for me to put the pieces of the puzzle together.」
「Wha. . . . . no, that absolutely cannot be! It has only been two days since the Game started! ! ! ! ! ? ? ? ? ? And besides, it should be almost impossible to figure out 「The Mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration」with that amount of information. . . 」
「Well, if that is what you think, then perhaps you are still a little bit drowsy after sleeping for so long? Because if that is indeed the case, then I strongly advise you to wake up and listen to hat other people are saying to you. Because just like you said, the Game has only been going on for two days, and yet here I am, claiming that I managed to figure out its mystery, which was supposed to be, to quote your own words back at you: almost impossible to figure out with that amount of information, almost being the keyword here. I mean, if something is almost impossible then at the same time it means that it is not completely impossible, therefore I do not think that my words created any kind of contradiction at all.」
James easily parried Heracles’ threatening words with a cool smile and confident statement. Just like he said, if it is not stated that something is outright impossible to achieve or prove, then all that he needed to do was to search for an answer, find it and then prove step by step how he arrived at said conclusion. When he said that he managed to figure out 「The Mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration」, he was not speaking while being overconfident in his abilities, but he was simply stating an established fact with a soft smile void of any kind of arrogance or cockiness.
He then placed his finger on the first parchment and traced his finger alongside it.

「Well, I said that we got our hands on three pieces of information, but to be honest, just this first one was enough for me to see the whole picture clearly.」
. . . Description ① : 「In accordance with the premise of 「The Chief God’s Declaration」, Perseus is the Chief God Zeus’s firstborn child.」
. . . Description ② : 「The current definition of the word 「Demigod」has been coined by following the contents of 「The Chief God’s Declaration」.」
. . . Description ③ : 「If certain conditions are fulfilled, there is a one hundred percent probability that Heracles might appear.」
「These are the three pieces of information that we managed to get our hands on. With these hints, you can not only solve the first mystery, but also the second and third ones that follow just by carefully re-reading the story of Perseus and possessing the knowledge of its historical background. . . . yes, that is right. 「The Mystery of the Chief God’s Declaration」is related not only to the hero Heracles, but also to the hero Perseus, the very first child that Zeus, a God had created with a mortal woman.」
