Last Embryo Volume 7 Chapter 5 Part 6

『Hmph… and to top it all off, you are pitting me not only against 『The Bull of Heaven』, but you also follow it up with 「The Youngest Child of Gaia」? I have to say, for an old God who has already retired, you sure are making me do all sorts or reckless things.』

「I know, and I am sorry for that, but I did not have any other friends to call upon who would be strong enough to last as long as you did against such an opponent.」

『Fuhn, I guess you are right about that. That beast is definitely a threat no worse than the Evil God Tezcatlipoca, so the number of Divine Spirits that can fight it and survive is certainly limited.』

The Primordial Dragon’s eyes twinkled as the atmosphere around it got heated up and roared.

『Let me just tell you something before we start this thing for real. Since you do not have the Sun Authority of Venus on you, then my fighting capabilities are going to be limited to three of this guy’s dragon head at maximum. So, if his seal gets completely broken and he ends up summoning any more heads then that, it is going to be too much for the current me. If that time ever comes, then I am just going to run away.』

「Of course. The time I can maintain Koa-san’s manifestation is limited to one second, but I will do my best to make full use of him to the limit.」

『As usual, the only thing that you care about is the power right in front of you… *Sigh*, it cannot be helped, I guess. Well, with that in mind, let us both go all out until this battle comes to an end!』

After a bit of bickering and glaring both You and Quetzacoatl let out the spirited battle cries filled with the entirety of their fighting spirit at the same time.

At the same time, Kudou Ayato was going forward together with the vanguard forces the were leading the attack on the enemy’s fortress, advancing ever so steadily as the giants were striking the natives around them with ferocious roars.

The trenches that the natives dug in the ground in between the giant’s attacks were pretty much meaningless against them, because all that it took for the giants to crush and turn the soils upside down was but a single kick of their massive legs.

One thing that all of the giants that appeared after the volcano first erupted was that they all had strange forms and shapes of their bodies. Among the ones that Ayato saw in her entire field of vision were the ones like the giants that had multiple arms, or the giants that had multiple heads, or multiple eyes, while the ones that looked not as removed from the natural world like the ones with regular number of limbs were more of a rarity. Right now, they all ran toward the Players and the natives while trampling the fields, mountains and the monsters under their feet without showing even a slightest hint of intelligence.
There was nothing strange about it. After all, they are not regular life forms, but rather sentient weapons shaped in the form of the giants. The best comparison that could be used to describe them would be to say that they were like a storm that took shape and started charging straight ahead without any clear goal in mind.

Their violence, which ravaged the land in ancient times and shattered the fortresses of the gods, breaks down the desperate preparations made by the natives one after another as if they were nothing at all.

Right after the vanguard giants collided with the Players on the frontline, Serpens Scorpius Sword Flash was aimed at the limbs of the giants and pierced them one after another.

「Fuh… !」

It pierced through the tendons in the arms and legs of seven giants in a span of a single breath. However, giants are not a kind of opponent that can be stopped simply by cutting the tendons of their limbs.

The giants exhaling scorching heat approached at high speed while twisting their bodies.

Kudou Ayato, who wielded the Serpens Scorpius Sword Flash, immediately jumped to the side and swung the segmented sword, accurately ripping only the giant’s carotid arteries.

A fountain of blood erupts and the convulsing giants eventually stop moving.

Ayato wiped off her sweat and made a bitter face.

(Their skin is so hard that even if I aim at the neck or arm, I can’t completely cut it off with my physical strength alone. Hell, I can’t kill them without aiming at the blood vessels or eyeballs…!)

The quality of these giants is clearly different from the giants she fought before. They are born from the cinders of this continent of Atlantis. In other words, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that they were a part of 「the Youngest Child of Gaia」. No matter how skillful her swordsmanship is, that armor-like skin will only cause her blade to bounce off of it, whether or not the speed, friction, and angle of entry all match and finally reach the carotid artery.

There are probably less than five swordsmen in Japan who could perfectly read their breathing and kill giants properly, excluding those who possess Divinity.

Such swordsmanship, which overturns the disadvantages against every species, is truly worthy of being called the divine swordsmanship.

However, no matter how hard you try to show off your skills, if you lose, the value will be lost. At the current moment, Ayato’s display was probably poor at best.

When the turban youth’s advice crossed my mind, a giant attacked her back.

「G E E E E Y A A A!!!」
The one-eyed giant didn’t miss Ayato’s moment of carelessness.

A youth in a turban caught Ayato, who was blown away by the giant’s blow that swept the large tree sideways like a club.

「Hey, it’s dangerous! Are you injured?」

「Yes. I avoided a direct hit with my spear.」

「That’s good. Look out, it’s coming from the front!」

Another strike was coming straight towards them. Ayato was surprised by the sudden attack, but immediately took out two short spears and fought back. She closed the distance to the giant who wielded the big tree. At this distance, the only way to kill an enemy is to slash his ankle tendon.

Immediately after slipping into the enemy’s bosom while rotating and stealing its ability to move, the crimson giant roared.

The crimson steel giant rushes at the giants by spewing flames from his joints, smashing through the enemy’s skulls with a single blow and sinking them into the ground.

「D E E E E e e e e E E E E N!!「

There is no doubt that the output of raw power that Deen can produce has increased even more than two years ago.

He used his outstretched arms to deliver powerful punches to the enemy’s abdomen in a straight line, he grabbed their heads and then slammed them against one another while pulling them towards each other with unstoppable force.

While Deen was showing just how powerful his eight faces and six arms were, Kudou Asuka, who was sitting on one of his shoulders, yelled:

「Ayato-san! You don’t have to force yourself to kill the enemy! If you aim at their limbs and stop their movements for a moment, Dean will finish them off for you!」

「Uh….Okay, let’s go!」

It’s not that she didn’t have any complaints, but now was not the time to be voicing them. Bringing personal feelings to the battlefield and misjudging the best possible move because of it is something that only a total novice would do.

If they were few in number, they wouldn’t be the enemies that Ayato couldn’t handle, but there is a limit to how one person can hold back the giants that pop out without limit due to the continued eruptions of the volcano.

When Ayato started sweating coldly, a young man in a turban raised his weapon to protect her back.

「You don’t have to worry about them. You’re not alone this time. Your sword-whip is more than sharp enough to stop the enemy’s movement. Just rely on your comrades for finishing them off.」

「… Yes. At least, no matter how many enemies of this level appear, I know they are not a match for you.」

As long as You Kasukabe and the others are protecting them from the sky, they won’t fall to these giants as easily.

Intense flashes collide repeatedly in the sky, attacking and protecting the Players beneath them at the same time. And immediately after the flames created by the two super beasts collided with one another yet again…

… Two shadows jumped out of the citadel and attacked the unsuspecting Players.
