Last Embryo Volume 7 Interlude 2 Part 2
Putting the mask on his face, 「The Youngest Child of Gaia」glared towards the shadow behind one of the broken pillar and called out to the one hiding behind it. Even as the night’s cool breeze was blowing through this place, there was nothing that indicated that there was someone else beside him there, but even so, Demon Lord Typhon’s eyes did not waver.
After he stared at the same spot for a while, a certain figure emerged from behind it.
「…. My apologies, I didn’t mean to offend you. It was not my intention to meddle in your personal affairs, but I thought that you might need someone to look after you while you were resting, so I was simply on standby here.」
「I see. It would seem that I made you worry.」
Putting his hands at the armrests of his throne, Demon Lord Typhon smiled with exaltation.
A figure that emerged from behind the pillar was a young individual with an androgenous appearance who could be perceived as either a man or a woman who apologetically clasped his hands behind his back.
Although his eyes were as sharp as eyes, the color of the emotions that were dwelling in those eyes did not make him look as if he was telling lies to Typhon. Even though his appearance was a somewhat sorrowful one, he could not be described in any other way than beautiful.
「I was really surprised when you came back in such agony. I was always under the impression that now matter how powerful of an opponent Heracles would be, there would be no way for him to beat you when you’ve activated your B.D.A.」
「That just goes to show how much of a threat the Climax Holy Sword really is. If it was an Astra that manifested in its perfect form, then one strike from it would probably be enough to finish me. Thankfully I was saved because its user was relatively inexperienced.」
Demon Lord Typhon clenched his fists reluctantly.
He is still far from being completely recovered. It will take at least a few more days before he’ll be able to fight with his full might again.
But at least now he’s sure that such a surprise attack is never going to work on him again. Demon Lord Typhon shall not allow that sword to catch him off guard ever again.
「In my current state, even Heracles would be a troublesome opponent for me. I’m sorry to be asking you to do this, but you’re going to have to become his next opponent.」
「That is rather convenient for me, so don’t worry about it. It’s extremely unpleasant to me that he’s the one being called the strongest warrior in all of Europe while I’m being left behind, so I always thought that it would be just a matter of time before I would have to take him down with my own hands.」
「Fufu, that’s rather reassuring to hear. Your father would definitely be proud of you if you managed to beat Heracles in a fight, so I do hope that you’ll be able to test your strength against his to your heart’s content.
Demon Lord Typhon laughed ferociously, but Vidar’s expression changed as he shook his head.
「My father… Odin will never show any kind of interest in me, no matter what kind of military success I am going to achieve. For him, I am nothing but a spare. A spirit created upon the premise that the world is going to meet its demise. If the situation wasn’t as peculiar as it is, we would never even go through the trouble of waking me up.」
There was no emotion in his voice, but it was more than clear that Vidar must have felt lonely when he was saying that.
He was supposed to be entrusted with the creation of the new era after Ragnarok, The Twilight of the Gods, but it was only now that the end of the world was actually approaching that his spiritual identity was able to take up definite shape, but appearing only after the world would already be destroyed means that the hero will not be able to save it in the first place.
And what is the value of such a hero?

Even an unnamed hero must have helped someone before to be recognized as a hero properly. But no matter how much he might be displaying his martial prowess to everyone, a hero without any achievements to his name whatsoever is no different than a paper tiger.
Without achievements to call his own, that hero would be an existence that should not be recognized by anyone, much less to be recognized by Odin, the Chief God of the Norse Mythology.
「…Hmph. Among all the gods from all the mythologies, he can be said to be one of the smartest there are. At the very least, the dissatisfaction that he feels about the current state of Little Garden can be said to match my own anger towards it. I just cannot comprehend why would he ever discard such a valuable ally such as yourself.」
「I don’t know about that. Father is definitely great and intelligent, but at the same time he can be said to be a weirdo incomparable to anyone else. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he said he had no place to put things that he made purely as a hobby for.」
「… I see.」
Demon Lord Typhon became somewhat embarrassed by hearing the heavy words that he has never heard before. Continuing this topic would definitely not do any good to heal his wounds, so he decided to drop that subject entirely.
The only thing that Demon Lord Typhon can do for Vidar now is to prevent any of the potential intruders from interfering with his fight against Heracles.
「By the way, where did the other one go?「
「They’re watching the outside with that Celestial Spirit. We’ve had several clashes in the past five days after all, so that became a necessity.」
「Hmm… so that guy was able to fight after all? Wasn’t he originally on the other side?」
「I don’t know. At the very least it didn’t look like he was cutting corners to me.」
「Of course. Rui Rui is not the one who would ever do such a thing.」
A little girl’s voice echoes throughout the cave as if to interrupt the conversation between Demon Lord Typhon and Vidar.
The little girl jumped in through the broken window in the throne room, put her hands on her hips, and puffed out her chest, all the while remaining perfectly expressionless.
「Looks like you finally woke up from your long nap, 「Youngest Child of Gaia」. Or maybe you actually overslept? Either way, making Al-chan wait so long for you is an offense punishable by death. Maybe Al should discipline you a bit more?」
「Well, well, well, if it isn’t the great Celestial Spirit Algol. I am very sorry for showing such disrespect towards my mother’s old acquaintance, the one known as the Demon Star. I deeply apologize for my rudeness.」
It might’ve looked like an illusion, but upon closer look it could be see that the young girl’s hair emit various waves of light all around her, which made the girl herself shine all the more beautifully. If anyone was seeing her for the very first time, they would probably be unable to resist the urge to let out a hot sigh at the sight of her beauty.
Her smug face coupled with her half-closed eyes was an expression that felt appropriate for her current age and complimented her charm, which was a unique mixture of a mature woman’s beauty and the loveliness of a young girl.
Watching the scene of her appearance, Demon Lord Typhon chuckled under his breath.
「Ku ku ku……… I never thought that there would ever come a time when you, who was feared as a tyrannical Celestial Star Spirit would end up serving under humans. It is getting really hard to predict how the times are going to change.」
「Took those words right out of my mouth. At the current moment, all three representative monsters of the Greek Mythology: Demon Lord Typhon, Celestial Star Spirit Algol and the Monstrous Bull Minotaur have been gathered in 『Yggdrasil』, a Community from Northern Europe. If those idiots from Olympus were to see that, even their jaws would hit the floor in an instant! How utterly risible!」
Algol hid her mouth behind her sleeve and smiled slightly.
Vidar looked at Demon Lord Typhon with some surprise in his eyes.
「What does she mean, Typhon? I haven’t heard anything about The Minotaur joining 『Yggdrasil』.」
「……….」
