Chapter 1: Let’s wake up in a new Dungeon, Part 2

「Where am I…?」

When he woke up, Aur found himself in an unfamiliar room in a Dungeon he didn’t remember. The walls, floor, the ceiling and the horrible stench that filled the air were all completely different from the Dungeons that he created.

Something leathery has been placed under his head, probably in an attempt to reduced the hardness and coldness of the stone floor. The effort was admirable, but for the most part, utterly meaningless.

「Shigikevu, iu, ku?」

Hearing a voice that he was not familiar with, he slowly turned his head towards the room’s door, which turned out to be nothing more but a dirty, ragged cloth stuck to the walls, and he saw a dark-haired girl there.

She was a young girl with straight, black hair that reached all the way to her shoulders. By his rough estimation, she should be around 16-17 years of age. Her obsidian-like dark eyes stared at Aur, but they were not the thing that caught his attention the most. It was actually her forehead, and a small horn that was sticking out of it.

「Were you… the one who helped me?」

The footsteps he sensed right before he fainted, they probably belonged to her. She must have also been the one who placed him on this poorly-made mattress. Although he couldn’t say that he was in perfect physical condition, he was feeling much better than he did when he first awoken in this unknown Dungeon.

「Salide, iv, noiku, saikuse, nimu, saradevi, mu.」

The girl answered him with a look of distress on her face. The language she was speaking was strange as well. The way she was braking the sentences into what sounded like individual syllables was different from any other language Aur has ever came in contact with. Even the language used in Yamato, the continent far across the sea, was easier to understand than this one.

「Aur.」

Aur puts his hand on his chest and slowly says his name.

「Aur.」

「Au… r?」

When he stated his name once again the girl tried to imitate the sound he was making, but he wandered if she actually knew what they meant.

「And you?」

He asked while pointing his finger at her.

「………. Froro.」

The girl… Froro replied after a slight frown. For the current moment, it might be safe to assume that both of them learned each other’s names.

「Ognasetalpuramarsatseaiku!」

But then, a frustrated man’s voice rang out from outside the room.

「Sezu!」

Spooked, Froro replied apologetically and ran out of the room.

「Aur. Eichi, iku, arokuna, utsuseru.」

But before she dissapeared she glanced back at Aur and said something. Maybe thay was the local way of saying goodbye?

「Nuno, rutsusujyamu.」

「Ogunasarupuramushirafifunoiku! Jutsunojiruraperupu!」

The man’s voice was strong and sharp like a sword, while Froro’s voice was clear, but incredibly weak. Their short exchange reminded Aur of a master yelling at his slave, that was the kind of vibe he was getting from them. He didn’t know if maybe Froro was the yelling man’s wife, daughter, or maybe servant, it was clear, however, that Froro was the one obeying the orders, and the man the one who issued them.

Slowly, in order not to overexert himself, Aur stood up and made his way to the curtain using the wall to support himself. He carefully peeked into the next room, looking for the girl.

The yelling man turned out to be a middle-aged fat man (TL NOTE: Sigh, and I thought this was a Fat Ugly Bastard free zone) who didn’t look like Froro at all. His eye and hair color were different, and most importantly, he didn’t have any horns on his forehead.

「Nigiz Savopeniv! Ogunasarapurum!」

The man shouted at Froro again and raised his hand. He had something that looked like a shining whip in it, and he swung it towards Froro.

「Stop it.」

Aur grabbed the man’s hand just before the whip could hit Froro’s body.

「Oruite, Ikusatsu seoiuiku!?」

Astonished, the man opened his eyes widely and stared at Froro as if he couldn’t believe in what just happened. Noticing that expression, Aur couldn’t help but to wander what was going on in here, exactly. Sure, he was the one who stood between the man and the girl unexpectedly, but even without his intervention, there was still many more things that he couldn’t wrap his head around.

That man may or may not have a perfectly good reason to whip Froro, but he will not be able to determine that unless he learns what is the actual relationship between those two. It doesn’t look that way, but if that man turned out to be someone important, then Aur wouldn’t have been able to destroy the poor bastard even if he wanted to

But if that is not the case…

「Ovalkus Itik, nocarb naibu guire…!」

The man shouted, but was unable to finish. And that was because his fat, ugly body has been abruptly shot into the air where neither his hand nor whip could reach Aur.

「Sa, Sarafivenoiku!? Oichi, Eksatsuseoiku!?」

The man continued to rage in a panicked state, but no matter what he tried to do, he was unable to get back on the ground.

The Invisible Labyrinth Labyrinthos. The Dungeon Cube, a magical tool created by Aur that can serve both as a weapon and a tiny Dungeon. It was its invisible exterior that wrapped itself around the man and lifted him off the ground.

In and out of itself, the Dungeon Cube was not designed for neither fast movements or heavy-hitting, it was, however, able to wrap itself around people and objects like a giant snake. And it was not something that an ordinary human could break himself free from of course.

「A…Aur, sarafibinoiku?!」

Froro asked Aur something with a terrified voice, but he just outright ignored here and stared at the man.

「Ogunasarapurum!!!!!!」

He did not know what that word, or words, meant. But he deduced that it must have been some kind of taunt, or perhaps an insult, because the man yelled that towards Froro before.

「Ogunasarapurum, mu, satsuseoitekuuku?!」

The man continued to shout while his face was getting redder with anger by the minute. He must have taken what Aur did to him as a terrible insult to his pride, because he used that same word again.

「Sezu.」

Aur answered slowly. This had to be a word that means 「yes」, because Froro used it before when the man was calling for her. Since that has to be a polite form of that word, aur used it to further ridicule his opponent and make him look particularly stupid in the eyes of his would-be victim.

「Nunnigveramu! Nivesogitsuromimu! Jovarekusatsu seibeii…!」

Standing directly below the man, Aur reached his hand towards him and made a gesture as if he was trying to grab a hold of him with his fingers. That single gesture applied pressure to the space created by the Dungeon Cube that was restraining the man. As it encroached on him, he felt an increasing tightness crushing down on his limbs and throat.

「Eulfrilov! Nervus ramunevu!」

He yelled as if he was trying to order Aur to do something.

「Utsuraf! Norenuiti kuseku, FROROOOOO!!!」

But when he realized that Aur was not responding to his pleading and kept on crushing him, he started yelling towards Froro. Since he only tried to rely on her just now, Aur concluded that she is not his wife or daughter. If their relationship was a one build on the foundation of mutual trust, then he would have reached out to her at the very beginning.

「Aur! Utsuraf!」

Froro hugged Aur’s arm in an attempt to stop him. But she couldn’t have known that the Dungeon Cube does not require Aur’s hand’s motions to operate. She only wasted her breath, because Aur was not going to stop.

「Utsuraf… nigusek…」

The man’s tone suddenly shifted, and he sounded as if he was begging him. Aur raised his eyebrows in amusement, because even if he didn’t know what his words meant, he could fill that blank without any issues. When placed in a situation similar to his, everyone was saying more or less the same thing.

「{Nigusek?}」

He don’t understand the exact meaning of the words, but he knows that he is not [pleading] for his life yet. He is still [ordering] him to spare him. So he squeezed the bastard some more.

「Satepi, mi, sekurobinobu…」

The man’s expression was twisted with pain and the he finally started to plead in a weak voice. Aur nodded with satisfaction and smiled slightly.

「Are you injured, Froro?」

He turned towards Froro and asked her kindly.

「Umu…? Nigi, nereprofu, svopi, vu, ku…?」

The man’s lips tried to say something again, but Aur ignored them. Instead, he tightened the Dungeon Cube’s grip on the man’s fat body even further.

「Idnetau, Rovenob! Nigitemez Rovenob! Satepno Drapim! Satepno Drapim!」

Is he screaming in anger or desperately pleading for his life? Judging by the desperate tone it was almost certainly the latter, but since Aur lost any and all interest in this insignificant insect, he ignored him once again.

「Aur… nimi, purefu rovenob?」

Froro kept trying to say something to him. Was it about sparing that man’s life?

「Sezu! Nimi purefu!」

Irritated by his incessant buzzing, Aur turned his gaze towards the man once again.

「So noisy.」

That was all Aur said in a flat, disinterested voice. A voice that was neither angry nor frustrated anymore, as if he was talking to a livestock.

「A…」

The man’s face became pale when he realized that there’s no way for him to be saved. And in the next moment, his body crushed into the ceiling, where it was hung up and struck by an invisible noose made of the Dungeon Cube that completely sealed the access of air to his brain. His body has been released and hit the ground moments later.

「Nigu, shigitoromi, ve, ku?」

Froro asks, approaching the man with an expression of sheer terror written all over her face. {Did you kill him?} It looked like that was what she was trying to ask.

「Do not worry. I didn’t kill him.」

Aur does not know what position that man has and what kind of risk killing him would entail. So there was only one way for him to deal with this situation.

To completely break that man’s spirit through fear.

Aur touched the man’s head, altered his memories and then returned to the other room before the man regained consciousness amidst violent coughing fits.

「Oiku, shiraviveiku? Ogunasare…!」

He shook his head and then started to yell at Froro again.

「Arupu, nigu, neto…」

Then he hurriedly stood up, looking around as if he was afraid of something, and left the room, leaving Froro behind.

Even with his memories altered, the feelings engraved upon his body will not disappear. Moreover, we won’t know who or what he is afraid of, so it will eat away at his mind all the more. From now on, he shouldn’t be able to whip Froro anymore, because that action is deeply connected with the fear that Aur instilled in him.

「Aur…Satse, ii, biku…?」

「Sorry.」

Aur shrugged and replied to Froro who still had her eyes wide open.

「I don’t get what you’re saying at all.」
