When thinking about what M might do in this final stage, the thing I was wary of along with the <<transactions>> was the number of laps. If the number of laps reaches 10, then the game board will be 4 squares. In this situation it would be common for a single roll of the dice to result in two laps on the board, and the number of laps would continue to increase exponentially.

If there was a <<forced acquisition game>> with the lap counter being at 20, the game could turn around in one turn no matter how big the coin difference would be.

So now that <<transactions>> are sealed away, my biggest concern was that M might somehow cheat at the very last moment. She could set up a <<forced acquisition game>> that she would be guaranteed to win and steal a huge amount of coins all at once.

But it seems now that that possibility has vanished… That being said, even with the lap counter at 10 it’s quite risky. However, if my plan goes well, I can suppress that risk easily. It’s no problem. The lap limit rule just helps.

And on the 31st turn, the first <<forced acquisition game>> of the endgame finally takes place.

The team representatives came forward.

On the 31st turn, the first <<forced acquisition game>> of the endgame was between the Great Detective Team and the Sakura Team. The representatives for these teams were Ikusaba-san and Haruto.

All the other participants focused on watching the <<forced acquisition game>> playing on the monitors. Haruto from the Sakura Team, who had the most coins of the two teams, drew a card from the deck labeled 2, as instructed by the banker Yuiga.

Haruto grinned when he saw what card he drew. It was Seven Card Karuta. This is a perfect game for Haruto, who owns <<Milt Meer’s pocket watch>>. It seems that luck is on Haruto’s side tonight.

However, the coin rate that Ikusaba-san picked was…

「One coin.」, he states simply and in the same tone as always.

Both Haruto and Yuiga the banker were shocked by this. In fact, most of the people watching the monitors in the large hall were also surprised. They had never expected that a game with the minimum amount of coins wagered would suddenly take place at this point.

But perhaps we should say that this is usual for Ikusaba-san. He must have obtained information about Haruto’s Nanana collection abilities from Tensai. Knowing Haruto, he probably didn’t want to show any more of his hand in such a low-stakes match. Even if he went undefeated, he would have only won 5 coins. Those 5 coins were almost meaningless in the endgame.

Watching this whole thing play out I think… 「I guess there is going to be some bargaining going on between the close 2nd and 3rd place teams.」

The Great Detective Team and Sakura Team were tied right after Sansa-san and Nanan-chan left. However, after that, Tensai failed a task of stabbing a ball with the tip of a sword in one try in the <<kendama one-shot challenge>>. So the Great Detective team was one step behind the Sakura Team. There were only 50 coins difference, which is small enough to be changed in one <<forced acquisition game>>. These two teams are competing for the last of the 2 spots for the teams that will move on to the next stage.

Therefore, even though they were in third place by a small margin, they didn’t want to bet many coins on a bad opportunity. Instead they would wait for an opportunity where they were confident they could win, and not show their hand.

After the two teams had finished playing their game, the next thing was for the other 2 teams to get our task for the squares we landed on.

The difficulty of the tasks increases with the number of laps set to 10. However, what is surprising is not that, but the reward for success. From now on, the reward will be 100 coins.

Lady Ageha from the Young Lady team and Nishi-san from Cat Ear Team were the ones attempting these tasks. Both were successful and won 100 coins.

It was a shame that the Cat Ear Team, which included M (had gained 100 coins) but it was good that we (who are in the lead) had gained 100 coins. The 2nd and 3rd place teams were fumbling around not gaining or losing many coins.

Of course another <<forced acquisition game>> broke out on the next (32nd) turn.

Great Detective Team vs Cat Ears Team

From the Great Detective Team we have Ikusaba-san. And from the Cat Ears Team we have…

「I’ll go.」

Breaking a long silence, M (Yun-chan, not Nanana-chan) decided to participate in her first <<forced acquisition game>>. This caused everyone to tense up. Everyone was paying attention to the <<forced acquisition game>> on the monitor.

Ikusaba will draw the game card from the 2 player deck presented by Yuiga the banker. The card he drew was <<jenga>>.

「Now, Cat Ear Mask will get to decide the wager rate. There will be a slight change regarding the rate though. On the 7th turn the base rate limit was the number of laps, but this time it will be the number of laps x 5.」

This was absolutely shocking to hear. The rate multiplier increased when M was the one playing.

「So, Cat Ear Mask, how many coins would you like to bet?」

M grinned before answering.

「As much as I can.」

M declares a max wager. In other words, every time they succeed in this game of jenga, the number of coins stolen will increase by 50.

This caused her opponent Ikusaba-san’s expression to tighten.

The jenga match between Yukihime-neesan and Nishi-san on the 7th round lasted for 16 rounds. If this game continued for the same length of time, it would be a whopping 800 coins that would be stolen this time…. No, this game can continue even longer than that and there is no time limit so you can squeeze as many coins out of your opponent as you want.

This is bad. Is this was M was waiting for?

Even though I’m nervous about that wager, I think to myself: Well, does that mean that M (Yun-chan) is really good at Jenga? No, is she going to use the Nanana collection? But she can’t use the Kumagoro right? …Hmmm. So Yun-chan, how are you so sure you will win this game?

「Ohhh.」

In the end, Yun-chan who was going first accidentally bumped the side of the tower while on the way to take the 3rd turn and it fell over.

「……Winner: From the Great Detective Team, Phantom Thief.」

「W..wait! One more time! Let’s go one more time!」

And so, M was defeated. 150 coins were transferred from the Cat Ears Team to the Great Detective Team.

…..what even was that?

Anyway, the only thing left for this turn is the tasks for the Young Lady Team and Sakura team since we didn’t land in the same square as any other team. Both of us succeeded and won 100 coins.

At the end of turn 32

Second and Third places have switched, although it’s only by 2 coins.

On the 33rd turn, the dice were rolled and for the first time in the history of <<sugoroku de pon>> there would be 2 <<forced acquisition games>> on the same turn.
