Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 3 Chapter 4.1

｢Ikusaba-san is a former member of the adventure club and the former president!?｣

What president Yuiga had told me came as a surprise. I came here to find out about Ikusaba Hiiyo who had assaulted Yun-chan, but I didn’t expect him to have a past like that. 

But at the same time things started making sense. 

I now understand why he knew so much about Nanana-chan and the Nanana collection, and the reason why he was an old acquaintance of Nanana-chan. 

But there is one thing that I need to know. 

｢What do you mean by Ikusaba-san destroying the adventure club once?｣

President Yuiga started talking upon hearing my query. 

｢Konjou Kasumi-senpai was the one who founded the adventure club. At first it was no different than many clubs in this school except that it only had one member. But due to her charismatic personality it gradually became famous.The only thing popular was the name of the club, most of the students didn’t believe in the club activity and took it as a joke.｣

｢Most of the students?｣

｢Yes, it means that there were students who believed. Ikusaba Hiiyo and I Yuiga Isshin were two of them. I became a member in the spring two years ago and by that time the adventure club had become quite famous among the people who were collecting Nanana collection items. The adventure club was united under Konjou-senpai and we had fun together as we gathered Nanana collection items steadily. But the end came when senpai left the third senior high and Nanae island after graduating in March last year.｣

That was the end of the first adventure club. 

｢After that Ikusaba-san who had become a third year student took over the adventure club. But Ikusaba-san was the polar opposite of Konjou-senpai, he believed in the survival of the fittest and used violent means without feeling any remorse.  So, the club members who new of his deeds resigned one after another and that incident occurred.｣

｢Incident?｣

｢Ikusaba-san used a member as a sacrificial pawn in the first Ruin they went together as the second generation adventure club.｣

｢Sacrificial pawn, that’s…..｣

｢They were able to conquer the Ruin and they got a Nanana collection but the member who got sacrificed got gravely injured as a result.  He somehow survived but he could never walk again due to the lower body hemiplegia.｣

I remembered what president Yuiga said when I became a member of the adventure club. 

‘I’m not saying this as a joke. Your life can be at risk when you are trying to obtain Nanana collection items.’

｢『 I shouldn’t have joined a club like this. 』That’s what she said to me when she was leaving the island.｣

This explanation of how he doesn’t hesitate even when it comes to sacrificing his companions is somewhat like how he was like to Nanana-chan the other day. 

｢And Ikusaba-san who caused that incident left the adventure club too with that Nanana collection. The second generation adventure club disappeared without leaving any noticeable legacy. At the end I was the only one who was left in the club but I didn’t do much either. It wasn’t much different than resigning.｣

｢So, how did the current adventure club come into existence?｣

｢I had a dream that I wanted to achieve no matter what, so we started our activity as the third generation adventure club this past spring. I invited Yuu and Kagetora whom I became acquainted with last year.｣

President Yuiga’s dream is world domination, it’s a crazy ambition. 

｢I heard rumours that Ikusaba-san is collecting the Nanana collection even after he left the adventure club. He even came here the other day.｣

｢Eh, in this room?｣

｢He probably came to search for something.｣

｢Is that for what I think it is?｣

｢Yeah, he was probably here to find out about Yoshino Saki-san.｣

｢I see.｣

Seems like this case isn’t simple as I had assumed initially. 

｢Yama-kun, if you are going to go against Ikusaba-san then we wouldn’t be sitting here doing nothing. We can’t do much but we’ll assist you.｣

President Yuiga knows Ikusaba-san well, so I’m glad to have his support. 

｢I really appreciate it.｣

｢Getting back to the issue. Yama-kun, can you think of a reason why Yoshino-san got assaulted?｣

｢……Sorry, I don’t have a clue.｣

Since I thought he was just a perverted lolicon. 

｢Can you tell me about Yoshino-san in detail then?｣

｢I haven’t known her for long so there isn’t much I can tell about her either……｣

｢About that.｣

D’arc, who was quietly listening to us raised his hand. 

｢I think Tensai might know something about Yoshino-san.｣

D’arc and I immediately returned to the happiness manor after I left the adventure club. Tensai was in 202 as usual, playing games. We took her out of the room to talk to her. We could have talked to her in the room but I didn’t want Nanana-chan to hear about Ikusaba-san. 

I told her about the current situation as she was still dressed in her big black cat onesie sitting on the stair but her reaction to it wasn’t good. 

｢Hmm.｣ 

｢Mhm.｣She kept responding to me like that while scratching her head. 

｢So, you knew about Yun-chan.｣

｢Who’s Yun-chan?｣

｢It’s Yoshino Saki-chan.｣

｢Who knows.｣

She looked away. Tensai looked like she was in a bad mood and I couldn’t deal with her attitude anymore. 

｢Oi, supersleuth! Seriously, stop this already! It isn’t a time to have an attitude! A girl is being targeted by a dangerous guy! Tell anything you know about it! If you are going to keep on behaving like this, I wouldn’t consider you my rival anymore!｣

I shouted and the black cat detective pouted. 

｢Stop making so much noise, Jyuugo! I’m trying to think. I will tell you what I know so stop complaining and shut up.｣

｢…..Eh, so you were trying to think?｣

｢Hmm, I can’t think clearly. Seems like these clothes make me a little lazy…..D’arc, help me change my clothes.｣

Tensai stood up and D’arc nodded happily, ｢Ok.｣

The giant cat suddenly looked at me and smiled boldly. 

｢So Jyuugo, you admitted that you think of me as a rival.｣

Her words alarmed me. 

｢…..Aaaa, that’s a lie. That’s something that I just said…..without thinking much…..like it’s just a figure of speech. And I’m a good guy who has been living his life without doing anything bad so there is no way I would be considered a rival by a master detective.｣

｢I’ll take your word, for now.｣

Tensai’s grin annoyed me but at the same time it comforted me that the usual Tensai was back.

That night, six members from the adventure club gathered in the cafe near the school. 

｢Long time no see, chibi.｣

｢Don’t call me chibi, Ibara-dono! I’m someone with a potential to grow several inches in the next few years!｣

Tensai shouted at Ibara-senpai who was patting her head happily but in a rough manner. While taking a sip of coffee that the owner brought we started our meeting with the president leading it

｢Let’s summarize the situation we are in first. There are two people who hold the key position, the former president of the adventure club Ikusaba Hiiyo and a first year student from our school Yoshino Saki-san. Ikusaba-san is after Yoshino-san for some unknown reason. According to Yama-kun, the only link between them is that they met in an arcade the other day. But I know that he isn’t someone to tail Yoshino-san randomly like that. There must be a reason behind it. So what could that reason be? And that’s all we know and all we’ve talked about till now.｣

｢I’ve heard all that from D’arc, Yuiga-dono.｣

｢And I heard from D’arc that Tensai-kun might know something about Yoshino-kun. Is that true, Tensai kun?｣

｢Yeah it is.｣

Tensai clearly affirmed it. It’s annoying how she wouldn’t admit that when I asked her. 

｢So, you are an acquainted with Yoshino-kun?｣

No, I’ve never met Yoshino Saki. Wait, let me rephrase it,I met her for the first time yesterday when we were at the south red mall.｣

｢Oi, Tensai. I don’t get what you mean. How do you know her without ever meeting her?｣

｢Don’t rush it, Jyuugo. I’ll explain it step by step. ｣

She paused and sipped her sugar and milk rich coffee. She started talking after that, ｢I got a secret part-time job from a first year student called Suruga Aya. The job was to search for a missing person.｣

｢Oh that job.｣

Secret part-time, it’s something outside Nanae island’s administration, an illegal job that is a contract between two people. Tensai took that job from the third senior high’s guild some time ago.
