Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 3 Chapter 4.2

  ｢I was supposed to take her back on Wednesday last week.｣

She did tell me about it and she was talking about a new signature pose or something like that. 

  ｢But an issue arose and I lost that chance.｣

  ｢What’s the issue you are talking about?｣

Tensai was displeased by my question and she pouted. 

  ｢The missing person had returned before I could bring her back!｣

Tensai raised her voice suddenly and started throwing a fit. But I couldn’t understand why she was angry. 

  ｢So, Tensai-kun why are you mad about that?｣

Tensai shouted at the president who was as confused as I was.

  ｢What are you saying Yuiga-dono! The incident got resolved before I could end it! There isn’t anything more annoying than that! To be clear, it’s humiliating! Making a fool out of me like that!  ｣

Anger took her over completely as she slammed the table. A thought crossed my mind as I watched her. 

  ｢Hey, Tensai. Don’t tell me that it was the reason why you were absent for a week.That’s isn’t the reason right?｣

Tensai looked away and her attendant who was listening to us smiled bitterly and gave a nod. 

  ｢this girl is an doofus. A real doofus.｣

  ｢Tensai-kun, I can’t understand why you are that angry…..what’s so important about that job?｣

President Yuiga tilted his head. 

  ｢You still don’t get who that missing person is?｣

Tensai glared at me, Why is she glaring at me though? 

  ｢No idea who it is.｣

I answer honestly. 

  ｢And you are supposed to be my rival.｣

Tensai sighed. 

  ｢It’s Yoshino Saki.｣

  ｢? What about Yun-chan?｣

  ｢I’m saying that the person who went missing is Yoshino Saki!｣

  ｢……For real? So, Yun-chan had gone missing?｣

Wait, really? Yun-chan was spending her life as an ordinary girl all lively and pumped up in the Tsukuyomi street. She was baking sweets there like a normal girl. Could it be that she was just being rebellious running away from home? 

  ｢Approximately a month ago. All contact with Yoshino Saki disappeared. From the evidence it was clear that she had returned to her dorm after school, but after that people couldn’t track her whereabouts. Her roommate Suruga Aya decided to talk to the authorities since she was worried about Yoshino Saki not returning that night. A search warrant was issued the next day. But the police couldn’t track her down and two weeks passed just like that. So, Aya decided to rely on the secret part-time system.｣

  ｢And the person who took that job was Tensai…..Hm? So the reason you were mad and left our hang-out was back was because Yun-chan was with us?｣

Tensai shut her mouth tightly, and it seemed like my question turned her grumpy. Seems like it’s a bullseye, how self centered can this master detective be. I don’t have the will to get angry at her anymore. 

  ｢So, I understand how it is related to Yoshino Saki-san. We need to figure out how Ikusaba-san is related to her.｣

  ｢Ah, about that. I think I have an idea about that. I know the relationship between them｣

Tensai’s casual words surprised us.

  ｢Wha.. what do you mean Tensai-kun?｣

President Yuiga leaned forward. 

  ｢I found out that Yoshino Saki was doing a certain thing on the day she went missing.｣

  ｢And what’s that?｣

  ｢A secret part-time job. Her job was to investigate a certain building.｣

President Yuiga gasped after hearing that. 

  ｢Don’t tell me that the person who offered that job is…..｣

  ｢Yeah, it’s Ikusaba Hiiyo.｣

Tensai’s words surprised everyone. 

  ｢Wait, what? Seriously?｣

The link between them was established now, this really is unexpected since I thought they had no link at all. 

  ｢It’s quite a surprise that you found who the client was since the guild takes client privacy seriously.｣

The president was impressed by it and that made tensai grin. 

  ｢Even so, there are loopholes.｣

Her ability to gather information is amazing as always. 

Something Tensai said had caught my attention. 

  ｢About that investigation of the building…..｣

  ｢To be honest, I thought it was a weird job when I found out about it. But everything became clear after knowing who Ikusaba Hiiyo is. He is the second president of the adventure club and if he is still collecting the Nanana collection then the building must be a Ruin.｣

  ｢Wait a minute, so Yun-chan knows about the existence of Nanana collections and the ruins just like us? But it seemed like she didn’t believe those things were real.｣

Last time I went to the Tsukuyomi street and got scared by Batako-san’s Nanana collection bluff Yun-chan laughed at me saying, ｢It’s funny how you got fooled by a joke.｣

  ｢You know pretty well about Yoshino Saki but the probability of that being a lie is high.｣

  ｢No, that might not be the case.｣

The club president objected. 

  ｢Yoshino-san was probably used without being told anything.｣

  ｢So, you mean she got hired and was made to act upon the job content without the details being explained to her? ｣

President Yuiga nodded at Tsurezure-senpai’s query.

  ｢I think so, it’s how Ikusaba-senpai works. He uses people and throws them away just like that.｣

His tone was somewhat thorny. 

  ｢So Isshin-sama, you mean that girl Yoshino Saki got information regarding the ruin Ikusaba-senpai found and that’s why Ikusaba-senpai is after her? ｣

  ｢The possibility of that being the case is pretty high.｣

That can be the reason why Ikusaba-san would target Yun-chan since he is collecting the Nanana collection just like we are doing. I see, it makes sense now.

  ｢But I think the problem lies somewhere else.｣

Tensai spoke. 

  ｢What do you mean?｣

  ｢It seems like everything is making sense completely but it lacks the consistency.｣

  ｢Consistency?｣

  ｢Let us assume Yoshino Saki found out something about the ruin then why did she go missing? And why did she return after two, no three weeks? What happened in those three weeks? We don’t know about that at all.｣

Tensai had her arms crossed and was trying to think. I opened up my mouth since I knew about those three weeks. 

  ｢Um…..I didn’t tell this before.｣

I talked about how I came to meet Yun-chan in Tsukuyomi street. 

  ｢Tsukuyomi street’s top organization is Three Skulls for sure.｣

President Yuiga nodded. I don’t know much about them but Three Skulls seems to be famous among the residents of this island. 

  ｢So, it means that Yoshino Saki was able to return because she got the backing of the Three Skulls? She pulled quite a feat for a first year student.｣

  ｢No, Ibara-senpai. I don’t think Yun-chan is using Tetsu-kun and the others.｣

  ｢Hmph. Yama, that’s just your assumption isn’t it? Who knows what that slut did to get into Three Skulls.｣

Ibara-senpai spat out. 

  ｢…..It’s really convincing when Ibara-senpai says stuff like that.｣

  ｢I agree.｣

Tsurezure-senpai and I nodded at each other. 

  ｢Oi, you two. I’ll be seeing you guys after this.｣

She glared at us and we quickly looked away.

  ｢A.. and it seemed like Yun-chan was meeting Ikusaba-senpai for the first time in the arcade. That’s weird if they knew each other before that.｣

  ｢Or that might be just you misinterpreting things.｣

But yeah if they had a deal among them in the past then it wouldn’t make sense but I can’t believe that Yun-chan knew him. 

  ｢It seems like things are going to connect, yet they aren’t.｣

  ｢We lack information, we need to dive furthermore into this.｣

Tensai concluded but president yuiga objected. 

  ｢Well no. There is a way we can end this quickly.｣

  ｢What do you mean, president Yuiga?｣

  ｢Don’t you think Yama-kun’s argument is off-track?｣

  ｢What do you mean?｣

  ｢Your objective isn’t finding out about the two of them but it is to deal with Ikusaba-senpai who is after Yoshino-san.｣

  ｢Yes, that’s the case and for that I need to gather more information…..｣

  ｢No, this much is enough. It’s clear what to do now.｣

  ｢And what’s that?｣

  ｢Ikusaba-san is after Yoshino-san because she has information about the ruin.｣

  ｢I think that’s for sure.｣

  ｢So, what if we clear the ruin before he does?｣

 Everything got clear after that. 

  ｢There would be no reason for Ikusaba-san to target Yun-chan.｣

Ikusaba-san is trying to get the information regarding the ruin from Yun-chan but if we clear that ruin first then the information Yun-chan has would become useless.

  ｢But do you really think that Ikusaba-dono would let Yoshino Saki go just like that?｣

  ｢I’ll guarantee her safety regarding that. Ikusaba-san values efficiency and he hates doing things that he deems useless. So, he wouldn’t go after a target that has lost its value.｣
