「Hmmm, the fifth to seventh characters of Maria’s Prayer are ‘555’, right? 」

Asumi clenches her fist. It’s right on. Unlike before, she’s only talking about the code. This means that even if Tensai has cracked the password, there is no way for Asumi to know the password that was cracked.

Then I am reminded of something.

That is the overwhelming advantage of knowing 《Jesus’ prayer》 that Tensai has.

If things continue like this, there is no doubt that Tensai will crack the password only using 《Jesus’ prayer》

If that happens there won’t be a deal left to be had.

「…OK tell me what you had in mind for a deal」, Asumi says quietly as if thinking about it.

The worst possible situation here is not even being able to participate in the 《game》 because we haven’t obtained the password. If I can avoid it, I have no choice but to accept some conditions.

「I have two requests. First, let’s call this one a draw. We don’t need to join Nishi-dono’s community and we don’t get any of your Nanana Collection. 」

Asumi is confused because the terms aren’t in Tensai’s favor. But there is no reason for us to refuse.

「Okay. 」

「And one more thing, you’ll be joining us in our evil deeds from now on. 」

「Evil deeds? 」

「Well it’s not really doing evil things. That’s just the name given to it by the guy who started it. Honestly I think it’s weird. Well tonight you can think of it as a little community service. 」

They are being too kind. What on earth are they up to?

Asumi is trying to guess what the others are thinking.

「Could you please make a decision quickly Asumi-dono? We are running out of time. 」

Looking at the clock and seeing Tensai’s irritated face, Asumi made a decision.

「OK, we’ll accept the terms. 」

「Alright. It’s a done deal. 」

Asumi relaxes her shoulders and leans back into the chair.

「You  got us again Tensai. 」

「That’s not true, we just got lucky this time. If the clues had been the other way around, you would have won. 」

「Tensai-kun, if you don’t mind could you let me know your code?’ 」

「All right. ‘Let us sing the Prayer of Jesus as a duo loudly. 5545229/23591142/74669299’. That’s it. 」

After hearing the Prayer of Jesus, Asumi quietly opens her mouth.

「’When the seven hearts overlap, the path will be opened.’ Huh? That’s a good password. 」

When Tensai hears this, her mouth turns into a grim smile and she gives an 「Hmph」.

「It was luck after all. 」

Asumi takes her cell phone out of her pocket and makes a call.

「Taisei, it’s settled. 」

Thus the end was announced.

「It’s a draw. But it’s as close to defeat as we can get. 」

After receiving news of the deal, I managed to survive Taisei (who was in a bad mood). We arrived at the supermarket where Tensai and Nishi-san were.

「So? Why is it a draw Asumi? 」

「Sorry, I’m not strong enough. 」

「Jeez, it’s fine though. 」

Not long after that, a half sobbing Imawano-san and an angry Ibaraki-san arrive. Kishitani-san and a senpai who were in tatters are next. Finally D’ark joins us.

「What do you mean Chibi? 」

And then Ibara-senpai is attacked by Tensai.

「Don’t tussle my hair Ibara-dono」

「Please explain it! 」

Tensai glares angrily at Senpai.

「Without Nishi-dono’s hint I would not have been able to crack the password in such a short time. However it was also impossible to take the hint away from Nishi-dono. Under the circumstances I thought it was the best option. Or what Ibara-dono? Would it have been better to lose and not get the password at all? What would your report to Yuigo-dono sound like if that happened? 」

「Depression…」

「Is there anything else Ibara-dono? 」

「Y…you did well Chibi. 」

Tensai is telling off Ibaraki-senpai while being patted on the head by her.

Now that everyone was gathered, I asked Tensai what I was curious about.

「So what were the two hints? 」

When I asked that, Tensai wrote down the hints she knew on the back of the paper the mysterious creature had given her, and handed it to Nishi who was nearby. Nishi also wrote the hint she knew on the back of the paper next to it.

I look at the two hints together but I don’t really understand it.

「So what do I do with this? 」

「Juugo, what is the relationship between Maria and Jesus? 」

「The virgin Maria, and Jesus Christ right? Parent and child, mother and son. 」

「That’s right, ‘mother’ and ‘child’. And the prayers of two people are said as a duo, that is at the same time. 」

That’s when it clicked.

「I see. In other words, this is the relationship between vowels and consonants in the alphabet? 」

In the hiragana table, the vowels represented by Maria are vertical A, I, U, E, O. The consonants that are represented by Jesus are the horizontal a, ka, sa, ta, na…

The numbers written on the two hints match up. Does that mean that when those two numbers are put together, a single character is referenced?

「The fact that the two hints intersect also has something to do with the codes we’ve seen so far. 」

I see, the answer to the code in the commercial was at the point where the longitude and latitude intersect. And the problem given by the mysterious creature also said that there were two hints, and to match them.

「I just entered the password on the website and checked the details of the 《game》. Nishi-dono did too. 」

Nishi nods at Tensai’s report.

Tensai looks around at everyone, but nobody answers.

As I said to Ibara-senpai, Tensai’s main purpose was to end the competition quickly.

Jeez, I just can’t beat this girl.

With that thought in my mind I start to follow after the great detective as she dashes away.

「Let’s get going Taisei. 」

「Huh? Go where? 」

「We are joining Tensai-kun’s evil deeds from now on. 」

The time was 11:31PM.

There is less than 30 minutes left on July 7th.

Going back in time a little bit.

The time is a little after 10PM. The Tanabata Festival held at the special venue came to a successful conclusion with the proclamation of Ikkaku Shunjuu. As the afterglow of the festival lingers over Nanae Island, Fugi Yukihime went to a restaurant near the festival site. She tells the waiter her name and is escorted to a private room on the second floor.

「Good work. 」

Standing at the entrance was Shuu Todomatsu, who had finished his work and removed his disguise.

After looking around in amazement, Yukihime passes by him and goes into her private room.
