Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 5 Chapter 8.2

I don’t know how she managed it but Tensai got them to come with us. As an aside, Kishitani-san and Imawano-san returned to the 7th High School to report to the other members, Ibara-senpai and Tsurezure-senpai are also absent because they went to the hospital where President Yuiga was admitted.

Nishi  lowered her gaze when she noticed Nanana-chan’s gaze.

「Nice to meet you, my name is Asumi Nishi. Happy birthday to you. 」

「Amagi Taisei. Anyways, congratulations. 」

For now they each give a social greeting.

「Oh please, there is no need to be so polite. My name is Ryugajou Nanana. I am an earthbound spirit. Nice to meet you. 」

The two of them were confused by Nanana-chan’s smiling self introduction.

And for some reason Nanana-chan is staring at Taisei.

「Um… is there something on my face? 」

「Amagi Taisei, you’re THAT Amagi Taisei-kun right? The one that has a lot of Nanana collection items right? 」

「Uh, I guess so…? You know who I am? 」

「Yeah, I saw you the other day 《Taitan》 -kun. 」

At the mention of that name Taisei is shocked.

「Eh? How do you know that? 」

「Well you know, I’m 《Sashimi》 after all」, says Nanana-chan while pointing at herself.

「Whhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! No way!! 」

Taisei’s eyes go wide with his complete surprise. Even I couldn’t help but to be puzzled by his reaction.

「What is it Taisei? What are you so surprised about? 」

「You idiot Asumi! Asumi you idiot! It’s this person! It’s  《Sashimi》-san from Seven Dragonar! 」

When he said that even Asumi shouted 「Whaaaaaaaat!? 」

「《Permanent Resident of Online Games》, 《Sage Who has Abandoned the Real World》, 《Half-Mecha Cyborg》, and many more characters. Could it be that she is one who goes by the name 《Sashimi》-san? 」

Both of them were looking at her with astonishment.

I have no idea why they are so surprised though.

「Um, excuse me. I’m not sure what’s going on so…」

「Hmph, isn’t Seven Dragonar the name of the online game played by Nanana-dono? 」

As Tensai said this I clap my hands.

「…Oh yeah. Now that I think about it, that’s right. 」

Somehow I’ve come to an understanding.

「What you are saying is that Nanana-chan’s character name online is 《Sashimi》」

「That’s right」, Says Nanana-chan nodding. As usual, she has very quirky name.

「But Juugo, you didn’t know that while you are living with her? 」

Well I mean I thought it would be bad manners to peek at a girl’s computer screen, especially when she’s using it online.

「I’m always grateful for 《Sashimi》-san for explaining the Nanana collection to us. 」

「Oh don’t mention it. 」

Taisei and Nishi bowed their heads repeatedly while looking anxious. Nanana-chan also looked a little nervous and bowed. While listening to their stories I was once again convinced.

「So what you are saying is that Nanana-chan is appraising other challengers Nanana collection items while playing online games? 」

「Yeah, that’s right. 」

I see. We in the adventure club didn’t really care because we had Nanana-chan who was at home to personally appraise the Nanana collection, but the challengers all over the island didn’t have that luxury. So this is how they got them appraised?

When I asked Taisei for more details, he told me that when he shows photos of the Nanana collection he had acquired to 《Sashimi》 in the online game, she would give an explanation of it.

「Hmm, I don’t think many people know about me. 」

「That’s not true. 《Sashimi》-san is famous among us challengers. Still, I never would guess that the mysterious being known as 《Sashimi》 was actually the earthbound spirit of Ryugajou Nanana-san. 」

「I understand your surprise Taisei. It was hard to believe for me too. 」

「No, I believe it. 」

「Huh? Why? 」

「Unless you’re an earthbound spirit, there’s no way you can play online games for 256 hours straight. 」

「Yeah, that’s a good point. 」

「The 《35 hour long battle to the death on the Ishbalta plains》 in which she single-handedly defeated the Melt Dragon (which is known to be the strongest monster) is now a legend. There’s no way a human could do such a feat in such extreme conditions. 」

The more you look, the more legends that go beyond human comprehension you can find. As expected of Nanana-chan, even after death she is still creating legends as an earthbound internet game addict.

「I never thought I would be able to have an offline meeting with 《Sashimi》 like this. 」

「I’m happy too 《Taitan》-kun. I never thought I’d be able to meet people face to face on the other side of the internet like this. 」

「So um… I’ve been wanting to say something to 《Sashimi》 for a long time if I ever saw her. 」

「Hmm? What is it 《Taitan》-kun. 」

So Taisei once again bows deeply to Nanana-chan.

「I’m really thankful to you. It’s because 3 years ago 《Sashimi》… no Nanana-san called out to me during the online game that I am doing what I do now. 」

Hearing such heartfelt words from Taisei, Nanana-chan smiled.

「Have you found meaning in your real life boy? 」

「Yes I have, thank you. 」

Nanana-chan and Taisei are laughing together in their own little world the two of them share. What the heck, this is incredible. I’m curious though so I’ll have to ask about that later.

The night is still young.

「Ah, that was fun. 」

It’s almost dawn and Nanana is happy even after the guests have left.

She is lying on the bed with a big smile on her face.

After tidying up the room I sat down in front of Nanana-chan again.

「Well that’s it Nanana-chan. Actually I have something to say…」

「Huh, what is it Juugo? And why are you sitting up with your back to me? 」

It’s because I’m feeling sorry that I can’t face you.

「Well it’s about your birthday present… There was a bit of a mistake on my part, or actually…」

「Silly Juugo. I already got a present from you. 」

「No…」, at that moment I wasn’t sure what was happening to me. When I finally understood what was happening…

Nanana-chan was hugging me from behind.

「Thank you Juugo. Thank you for hosting such a great birthday party. I’m so happy right now. 」

My heart can’t stop pounding as I hear those words whispered into my ear.

It’s kind of embarrassing. Well of course it’s embarrassing when a girl is hugging me.

But at the same time a feeling of joy slowly wells up inside of me. A warm feeling overflowing from within making my face smile naturally.

Maybe this is what they call feeling satisfied.

I wanted to make Nanana happy, and to see her this happy. I could feel it… I could feel it from the bottom of my heart.

I’m glad we had the party. I want to do something that will make Nanana-chan smile again.

…Also I’m a boy … so this position is making me kind of horny… ugh I can’ take it anymore. I can’t stand it anymore.

「Nanana-chan! 」, 「I’m hyped up and play some online games! 」

When I turned around Nanana-chan was already at the computer.

「Huh? What’s wrong Juugo? Why are you in that weird pose. You look like a swan. 」

Nanana-chan was looking at me puzzled.

「Hug, hu, ho… honk honk honk. 」

In order to cover up the fact that I raised my hands to embrace Nanana-chan, I began to flap them like a swan flying out of the water.

The next day (or rather a few hours later) I completed a full marathon at dawn, and my body was feeling very heavy. I ran into Tensai on the way to school. We started walking side by side as usual. Seeing that D’ark wasn’t there, I realized that Tensai was probably being mean and left her behind again.

「Juugo, I have a question for you. Why did you call this surprise party for Nanana-dono an ‘evil deed’? 」

Tensai asked me this question from out of nowhere.

「Because it was a bad thing right? 」

「Well, the act of rigging the Tanabata Festival to try to have your own wish come true is certainly a bad thing. But it wasn’t bad from Nanana-dono’s point of view. In fact Nanana-dono was overjoyed. 」

「Are you an idiot? I worked hard for Nanana-chan’s sake, so if she wasn’t happy I’d cry. 」

「I didn’t think it was particularly bad. I actually think you did something good. 」

「Don’t be creepy. Why don’t you just keep your mouth shut? 」

「You’re an idiot, you know that? Well? 」

Pressed for an answer I voice my feelings.

「You are saying that it’s a good thing, but do you know how many people on this island lost their chance to have their dream come true? Well it’s the festival and many people may have just been joking around, but many had dreams they hoped with all their might would come true. I crushed those potential dreams with my selfish ego. These actions could never be called good, it was wrong.」

「Even if it was for Nanana-dono’s sake? 」

「That’s why I don’t think Nanana-chan is part of the evil deed. I did it because I wanted to give her a surprise present. So she had nothing to do with it right? 」
