Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Chapter 2.2

「So you are betraying M?」

In response to Tensai’s question, Asumi put on a serious expression and stuck out her right hand.

「If it is for justice, I will gladly defile my hands and degrade my body.」

Asami smiled as she watched Tensai gulp in surprise at the conviction she showed.

「Maybe that’s a bit too over the top.」

「…..yeah that’s a bit too over the top. That was cool.」

Tensai was a little jealous.

Asumi finds Tensai adorable and laughs.

「Now let’s settle this matter.」

「Leave the execution to me, Asumi-dono.」

And then Asumi Nishi takes action. First, Asumi presents the gift she had prepared to the banker, Isshin Yuiga.

「We’re going to make a <<transaction>> with the banker. Regarding the <<forced acquisition game>> with the Great Detective Team, we’d like to ignore the established rules and change the rules so that we can bet 5000 coins. In exchange for this request, we, the Cat Ears Team, will pay one coin.」

Asumi suddenly proposes a <<transaction>>. It’s a completely illogical and unreasonable <<transaction>>. However, after reading the transaction details document with the heart stamp on it that Asumi hands him, Isshin understands Asumi’s intentions and nods.

「Understood. Then I will accept the deal from Cat Ear Team’s Cat Ear-chan.」

So the banker (Isshin Yuiga) took out a stamp from his pocket and stamped ‘Transaction Accepted 2 stars’ on the transaction details document. Asumi hands over a coin from her team that she had hidden in her pocket to Isshin, the banker. Isshin accepts it and makes a declaration.

「Well then, in accordance with the deal, regardless of the content of this <<forced acquisition game>> the prize will be 5,000 coins.」

And Isshin Yuiga does his final job as a banker.

「Now then Cat Ears-chan, please choose your final challenge.」

So, she will pick a 2 player card, but in reality, it doesn’t matter what they play. The outcome will be the same. What really matters though is following the rules until the end. By the time M ushed into the robbery room, the battle was already over.

「Oh come on, are you serious?」

I was stunned, witnessing this sudden betrayal that I had never expected. I suddenly gathered my mind and, together with the other participants, chased after M, who had rushed out of the great hall and headed towards the robbery room.

「What have you done to me?」

What I witnessed in the robbery room was M grabbing onto Asumi-san while Nishi-san looked resigned.

「As I said, I don’t agree with your methods.」

As Nishi spoke calmly, M bit her lip, but then suddenly came to her senses.

「Anyway, I have to do something. I don’t know what to do though…」

「Then I will file a trade violation application」, I immediately suggest.

「Huh?」, says M, apparently not understanding the situation.

Hearing my suggestion, President Yuiga (the banker) nodded.

「At the start of the 27th turn, a transaction document stating that ‘all <<transactions>> are prohibited’ was submitted. Despite this, the representative of the Cat Ears team, Cat Ears-chan, ignored this and made a <<transaction>> with the bank. As such, we are finding that the Cat Ears Team was in breach of the <<transaction>>, and will have half their coins and five dice tickets confiscated. These will be distributed equally to the other three teams that made the contract.」

Even after hearing what President Yuiga said, M (aka Yun-chan) couldn’t move. It was all so sudden that her mind couldn’t keep up. She hadn’t noticed yet. That she’s already stuck.

While M was just standing there, Yukihime-san raised her hand.

「We on the Sakura team will decline this allocation.」

Haruto spoke up and said, 「Yukihime! Wait, not yet.」

「Give up Ishbal. To do anything else would be uncool. You, who respect tradition, should understand that very well.」

Haruto, who had already lost out because of his own laziness, slammed his fist on a nearby table in frustration.

Tensai  then speaks up, 「Let’s also decline the allocation to the Great Detective Team. Let’s hand everything over to the Young Lady Team.」

Ikusaba-san, who was standing behind her, nodded.

「Wait. Wait just a….」

M is on the verge of tears as the situation progresses without her.

Yuiga the banker tells M, 「Now I will impose the penalty on the Cat Ears Team. Furthermore, as the Cat Ears Team’s dice ticket count has now become 0, the Cat Ears Team are no longer in the match.」

It all happened in the blink of an eye.

Tensai triggers Nishii-san’s plan, and the banker who should have remained neutral becomes complicit in it. Then, everyone gathered here deals the final blows to M. They point their blades at the evil that is trying to steal their Nanana collections and cut it to pieces. The organizer M who was so sure of victory a moment ago, quickly found herself faced with defeat.

M shouted to Asumi as she stepped into the hallway.

「W..why did you do this?」

「I hate cowards.」

「I’m a coward…?」

Asumi coldy tells M, 「M, you are evil.」

Those were very cold eyes. The gaze of Asumi Nishi was filled with hostility, even hatred, as if she were a completely different person.

With all that pointed at her, Saki bit her lip and forced her voice to say, 「I didn’t want to do this either.」

「?」

「I didn’t want to deceive people like this… but I had no choice.」

「Wait, what exactly are you talking about…?」

「You don’t know anything.」

「Huh?」

「You don’t know anything!」, M shouted and ran off.

Asumi is left alone and confused, not understanding the meaning of what M said.

「Asumi.」

「Taisei?」

The person who approached Asumi was Taisei Amagi, who had removed his guise as a banker.

「Asumi, do you know who that child is?」

「Child? Are you talking about M‘s true identity?」

Seeing Asumi’s confused expression, Taisei realized something.

「No, it’s nothing. Forget it.」

He realized that Asumi doesn’t know the true identity of M. She doesn’t know M‘s relationship with Tetsunoshin Tsujimi.

「Asumi, I’m sorry.」

Following Taisei, Haruto approached Asumi. He bowed his head apologetically.

Asumi and Taisei both said to Haruto, 「If you’re tired of this, why don’t you trust me a little?」

「I’ve known for a long time that you’re fluent in Japanese.」

「You knew?」

Asumi laughs.

「Of course, Haruto is our friend after all.」

Seeing that, Haruto… Ishbal Corunald felt keenly aware of his own arrogance.

The noble bandit realized that he had completely underestimated these two… No, not just Asumi and her friends, but all the students on the island. He felt bad about his arrogance.

Asumi, unaware of Haruto’s feelings, sighs.

「In the end, we were all defeated here. Unfortunately, we failed to achieve our goal of getting the <<Sword of Nanana>> for our community.」

「But I think there’s something to be gained.」

As Taisei pointed this out, approaching Asumi was Ikkyu Tensai and Hiiyo Ikusaba.

「I’m in debted to you Asumi-dono. And there’s also the matter of the draw the other day. We should settle this sometime.」

「We may be the ones moving on, but you are definitely the MVP of the second stage.」

With that, the two of them left.

Although Asumi was confused when she heard those words from the winner, she thought to herself, 「Well, I don’t’ mind.」

Even if you lose, it’s still very satisfying to have your actions recognized as the correct ones.

Tetsu chases after Saki, who has run off alone.

Fortunately, the effects of his <<reptilian eyes>> were still present, and he was soon able to find what he believed to be Saki’s heat signature. Saki was trembling in a corner of the spacious royal castle corridor.

「Are you ok, Yun?」

The moment Tetsu called out to her, Saki raised her face with tears in her eyes, then took off her mask and jumped into his arms. Saki cried into Tetsu’s chest. She cried loudly while she was trembling.

「Tetsu, what should I do? I’m scared.」

「Don’t worry, I’ll definitely protect you, Yun.」

Even though he called out to her, Saki just shook her head in his chest. Tetsu was confused about that reaction… then suddenly Saki stopped crying.

And then Tetsu’s right eye noticed something strange. Saki’s body temperature suddenly went away. Something red started bright red started to move around her neck. Saki lets go of Tetsu’s arm and stands up. Something is clearly wrong.

「What a troublesome child.」

That voice was Saki’s and yet it was not Saki. This was also clearly a different being than Ryuugajou Nanana that had possessed Saki before.  It was different because Ryuugajou Nanana had been acting so happily while she had showed up because of Sansa. A mysterious presence had just possessed Yun.

I instinctively brace myself and ask, 「Hey you, who are you?」

Tetsu’s right eye simply stared at Saki’s neck, it was burning red and wriggling. At that moment, the effect of the <<reptile eye>> Tetsu used on his right eye wore off. His right eye regains its original sight.
