Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Chapter 5.2

「Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it will last long. Anyway, you need to think of something to do now, Asumi.」

「Okay, I’ll leave it to you for a while.」

「Asumi, what are you going to do about these rabble?」

This was Soryu talking, as it twisted its body as if to protect Asumi and the others. He continued to fight off the endless attacks from the humanoids.

To answer this Asumi appeals to the large man standing on the other side of the humanoids.

「We have no intention of fighting any more. We apologize, so can you please back off?」

The big man didn’t say anything, just continued to produce the humanoids.

「There’s no other way. Please wait a moment, Tanabe-san.」

「Got it.」

「Naota, Onku. I’m counting on you guys too.」

The two shikigami respond to their master’s command with a ‘woof’ and charge towards the humanoids.

Asumi was calmly pondering the matter while being protected by Soryu and the two Shikigami.

「Now we just need to find a way to treat her… that’s right! Taisei, is there anyone among the demons we can summon with <<soutenman no fuuman>> that can heal her wounds?」

「I think there is.」

「Well, let’s get straight to it and…」

「But I don’t know the sign to summon him.」

Asumi glares at Taisei, who cut her off with his disappointing comment.

「Why don’t you remember? You should at least remember how to use your own Nanana Collection!」

「You idiot! How many do you think there are in total? There are nearly 200! Do you think you can remember all the gestures to summon them?」

「It’s only 200!」

「Shut up, you honor student! Stop being so smart, you delinquent!」

The two of them are yelling back and forth at each other, forgetting the situation they were in. Misao quickly speaks up.

「Hey, wait a second! The president and Tai-chan, for now…」

「Opps, sorry about that.」

「Sorry.」

Asumi clears her throat lightly and looks around at everyone again.

「Is there any good way to go about this?」

At this point, Isshin Yuiga, who had been accompanying us, raised his hand.

「Why don’t we just surrender to the General Security outside? She’s in critical condition.」

「I don’t know about that. I can’t trust those guys.」

Masaaki Kishitani expressed her opposition to that idea.

「But surely they would help someone who is in critical condition.」

「In the first place that way of thinking is wrong. It’s crazy to entrust everything to someone you can’t trust. You can’t be surprise even if they kill you.」

「Wait a second. That’s dumb…」

Asumi calmed everyone down in the confusion with a wave of her hand.

「I agree with Kishitani-kun, Yuiga-kun. It doesn’t matter if they’re adults or the General Security that protects this island. Unless you can trust them, you shouldn’t make yourself so vulnerable to them.」

Asumi’s strong tone made Isshin feel confused, but he nodded and said, ‘I understand’ then closed his mouth.

「But that being said, we can’t just sit back and do nothing, Asumi.」

After Taisei said that, Asumi thought for a bit then spoke.

「What’s clear at the moment is that we here don’t have the means to treat her. That’s why we have no choice but to ask for help from others.」

「Who do you mean? Are you planning on calling an ambulance?」

「That would be one option, but there’s also the Nanaejima General Security outside. There’s also a lot of problems with ordinary people getting involved with this commotion, and the Nanana collection.」

Yukihime was watching the situation in Seven’s Land from the roof of the royal castle.

What was happening now was a group of participants fleeing or trying to fight back, and a well-organized armed grouip. On the one hand, each of them had a Nanana collection with special abilities, but they were all acting individually. And then there was the well-organized soldiers who had been joined by reinforcements and were overwhelming in numbers. It’s easier to imagine how this commotion would end.

「Still, I never would have imagined that General Security forces would get involved.」

So when did the Nanaejima General Security start keeping an eye on this <<game>>? Was it because they were broadcasting love on TV? Or even before that, when it was announced at the Tanabata festival? No, even before that. Ever since the Nanana collection first began to make its appearance. The Nanana collection is not officially known about, but there’s no way that the Nanaejima General Security isn’t aware of what’s going on on the island… and on top of that, the GREAT 7 must be aware of it. There’s no way the other GREAT 7 members don’t know about this.

Yukihime had been wondering about something for a while now. Why are they holding back from taking all the Nanana collection, even though they show their intentions to get them? If the rulers of this island, in name and in reality, were serious, it would be no problem for them to uncover all the <<ruins>> on the island and obtain the Nanana collections in them. So why are they holding back and not doing that?

Yukihime believes it’s probably because there are some restraints. Who put the restraints on them though? Of course it was Ryuugajou Nanana, who had died and become an earthbound spirit.

And so the GREAT 7 could only take a step back from anything related to the Nanana collection… or rather, they observed it all.

But now suddenly they broke that restraint and the Nanaejima General Security burst into the <<game>>.

The third and final stage is underway, and the winner has yet to be decided.

What is going on? While Yukihime was wondering about this, she felt something was off and she continued to watch the scene below.

「…Something seems strange.」

There’s something strange about the Nanejima General Security, who have been calling for people to surrender for a while now. At first they were firing their guns and acting so violently, but now they’re acting more professional. They’re just calling for people to surrender while deploying their forces. What’s going on here?

Yukihime notices this and understands.

「Apparently, there are two factions of the Nanaejima General Security.」

Faction A was the first one that opened fire on the participants. Then came faction B, the reinforcements who had just arrived. Faction B was deploying its forces and calling on the students to stop attacking, while at the time engaging in fierce combat with faction A.

Yukihime understood the situation. It seems that faction A is a fake group pretending to be the Nanaejima General Security. Perhaps someone who knew that the Nanaejima General Security was monitoring tonight’s <<game>> broke in disguised as them to disrupt the <<game>>. That was who faction A was. Seeing this, the real Nanaejima General Security appeared in a panic to try to defuse the situation. That is faction B.

Faction B did not want to interfere with the <<game>>. However, when faction A appeared, pretending to be them and attacking the <<game>> participants, they had no choice but to show themselves.

Things are already going according to faction A’s plans though, and the participants who have been attacked by faction A are confused. They are mistaking faction B for an enemy and attacking them. Faction B has no intention of harming the participants, so they simply call for an end to the attacks, but they also begin to attack faction A.

This is the current situation. This is why the stalemate continues despite the power imbalance.

As Yukihime analyzes the situation, she begins thinking about the future. Having been defeated in the <<game>> and now with the General Security closing in, as a member of the phantom thieves, <<Matsuri>>, there was no point in her staying here any longer. Considering the risks, she should withdraw immediately.

Even though she has reached that conclusion, Yukihime doesn’t move. She’s worried about Juugo who’s still here. She wants to stay here, at least until she finds out the results of the <<game>>.

「Can you all hear me?」

She then heard a strange voice.

「What was that?」

She looks around but there is no one there. She becomes more cautious as the voice continues.

「I am Asumi Nishi, representative of the Seventh High School community. I am currently speaking directly to the heads of all students in Seven’s Land who have a Nanana collection. You can think of it as telepathy. Please listen to what I have to say.」
