Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Chapter 5.8
The current situation is a mixture of various circumstances. But there’s one thing specifically that worries Tensai the most. Behind the attacking humanoids, there is the big man with the cloak covering his body from which the humanoids are coming from. Asumi and the others are aware of the Leprechauns, but why is Nanika creating the humanoids?
Haruto, who had just taken a break, had told her the result of the <<game>>. That Juugo had won. That meant that the <<game>> was already over. With the organizer defeated and Tetesunoshin not winning ,the Leprechaun’s plan had completely failed. The General Security had also arrived outside. Considering the Leprechaun’s tendency to not show his face in public, it would be best to make a quick escape. So why doesn’t Nanika back down? Why does he stay here and create endless amounts of humanoids?
She glances in a new direction. She looks at the masked girl, M (aka Saki Yoshino) lying in the center of the group.
He can’t forgive Asumi’s plan to save Saki Yoshino? Is he planning to deal the final blow to her? Is it to silence her so she won’t leak information about the leprechauns? Or…. Is there something else going on with Saki Yoshino?
They took up positions in the center of the hallway. A group of humanoids appeared from the opposite side of the hallway from where the big man was.
「Hmph, I thought so.」
Tensai immediately pulled out the modified pistol from her pocket.
To some extent, she had predicted this turn of events when she noticed that the endless stream of humanoids were not only coming towards them, but were also disappearing down the opposite corridor. He had diverted some of the humanoids and executed a pincer attack on Asumi and the others, who were positioned in the center of the corridor.
「Everyone, don’t panic!」, Asumi calmly called out during the situation.
It seems that Asumi was also aware of this possibility. However, even if she knew, it would have been difficult to move Saki Yoshino given her current condition.
「Kishaaaa!」
The pitch black humanoids that appeared on the other side of the corridor charged forward, letting out a cry. Tetsunoshin, who had been catching his breath, was the first to act. He jumped out from inside the coiled Tanabe and charged at the humanoids attacking them from behind.
Seeing this Asumi quickly gave orders.
「Naota, Otoko! You two need to cover Tsujimi-kun’s back….」
Crash
「!」
Something unexpected happens. All the windows in the hallway were broken and several humanoids entered one after another. Now, along with the attacks from the front and back, there were attacks from all sides too.
Haruto, who had been resting, also picked up a fencing sword that was on the floor and humped onto Tanabe’s body, fighting off the humanoids who were trying to crawl up Tanabe’s body.
The two komainu incarnations are busy intercepting the surprise attack force that has wrapped around Tanabe’s body. They are unable to support Tetsunoshin, who has headed towards the horde from behind. But still, alone, Tetsunoshin swings his sword, slashing away one after another of the humanoids attacking from the rear. But he is outnumbered. Eventually, he is jumped on by the humanoids and pushed down. The other humanoids rush in from behind.
「Tsujimi-kun!」
As Asumi sees Tetsunoshin disappear as if he had been swallowed up by a black wave, she lets out a shriek-like cry.
「I’m not going to let you!」
A voice suddenly rose up. Hearing the voice, Tensai (who was pulling the trigger of her modified pistol) couldn’t help but grin. The voice belonged to Juugo Yama.
Juugo suddenly appeared on the other side of the corridor behind the humanoid who had surged in from behind. While he was hitting the humanoid with the <<sword of Nanana>> (still in its sheath) he was holding, he pulled the fallen Tetsunoshin to his feet and the two of them came back to us.
「Wh..what is this dragon?」
Juugo is momentarily frightened by the giant writing dragon, but he follows behind Tetsunoshin and rolls inside Tanabe’s coiled body.
「Well, I’m glad we got help just in time.」
「Juugo, you….」
Tetsunoshin was also taken aback by Juugo’s sudden appearance, sitting on the floor and breathing heavily.
「It appears your plan didn’t work out, my worthy rival.」
Tensai laughs maliciously at Juugo.
「Shut up, there were a lot of unforeseen circumstances. But why are you here, little detective?」
「It’s because I heard Asumi’s story and I wanted to come here, of course.」
That answer made Juugo smile happily.
「I see.」
「Hey, Juugo. Why are you patting my head here?」
「Don’t worry about it. I just feel like it.」
「So what did you come here for?」
「Oh, I had something I wanted to announce, so I was looking for a lot of listeners.」
「What do you mean?」
Then, for some reason, Juugo jumped on top of Tanabe’s huge body, which was surrounding everyone. Without caring about the whole situation with the humanoids attacking, he suddenly shouted loudly.
「Yes, so, I’d like to announce to everyone that I, Juugo Yama, am the winner of the <<game>>!」
******************************************************
Seeing Juugo leap onto the giant dragon’s body and loudly proclaim himself the winner, Hiiyo Ikusaba (who was hiding in the shadows of the corridor) tsked.
He did it.
In the great hall, Juugo was hiding in the shadows, and Ikusaba was cornering him one-sidedly. However, Juugo suddenly jumped out from the shadows and ran out into the corridor. Ikusaba chased after him as he fled, firing arrows of light at him. There were many close calls, but in the end, he was unable to hit Juugo’s back and he was able to escape.
Juugo’s goal in running around the castle was probably to reunite with the other participants and announce his victory, thereby ensuring his safety. This made it extremely difficult to secretly steal the <<sword of Nanana>> from him.
So what should I do? Should I back down? But I don’t know if I’ll get another chance at a Nanana collection this rare. So should I take it still? But if I go ahead and steal it, I’ll have to somehow silence everyone here.
What should I do? Which is more efficient for achieving my goal?
「I’m not happy about the results, so I have decided to hold a championship match on my own!」
Ikusaba was lost in thought, but when he heard Juugo’s words, those thoughts suddenly disappeared. Wait. What did Yama-kun just say?
「Oh, by the way, the match is between me and Ikusaba-san over there」, says Juugo who was grinning as he pointed to the corner of the hallway where I was hiding.
「And whoever wins will be the true winner. They will become the official owner of the <<sword of Nanana>>.」
Stunned, Ikusaba racks his brain trying to make sense of Juugo’s words. But he has no idea what they mean. What on earth does Juugo mean? What is he thinking? Ikusaba soon found out the answer to those questions.
「But before that, we decided to go and help everyone. That’s why we came here. So, let’s all join forces and defeat those humanoids!」
「…I see.」
At this point, Ikusaba finally understands Juugo’s true intentions. The deal Juugo was trying to make. Juugo offered him a chance to obtain the <<sword of Nanana>> without any tricks. In front of so many people, a final match was announced. Now Ikusaba had a just cause to obtain the <<sword of Nanana>> without resorting to the unwanted method of stealing it. In return, however, he had to help wipe out the humanoids here.
It’s true, this <<bow of light>> could be a sufficient fighting force in helping. With this realization, Ikusaba was honestly amazed at Juugo. At least until now, Yama-kun had been completely cornered by me. At worst, I was even planning to get rid of him. Yama-kun also has openly shown his hostility towards me. Our relationship was complete hostility.
As he was doing this, he received a telepathic message from Asumi Nishi, which must be where he came up with the plan. But would someone normally be able to come up with a solution like that in such a situation? Not only was he able to help himself, but he would also be able to bring in the person who was trying to take his life together as a helping fighting force. There was certainly a risk to Juugo, but the result was that he was able to turn the whole situation around in the way that he wanted it.
Of course, this proposal was beneficial to Ikusaba, and very beneficial at that. There was no reason to refuse. However, I don’t like it. That’s because Ikusaba has no options.
Juugo already made it public that he was hiding here, watching the situation. But leaving now would mean abandoning Asumi and the others. It was the worst possible scenario to steal the sword. And from Ikusaba-san’s perspective, in needing to maintain relationships, it was an obvious choice.
