Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 8 Chapter 8.2
Then he turns his attention to the sword on the table.
「Okay, I’ll take this then.」
And with that, Juugo leaves with a smile.
「Well, I guess that’s about it.」
Sansa is sitting alone on the sofa in her room, smoking a cigarette. In front of her is the sheath of the <<sword of Nanana>>. This is the reason Kurosu Sansa intervened in the <<game>>. The <<sword of Nanana>> has seven abilities in total. Three of those abilities are possessed in the sheath. And one of those abilities is exactly what Sansa was wanting.
Sansa peeled off all the cloth that was wrapped around the damaged Sheath.
「There.」
At the tip of the sheath that appears from under the cloth, several jewels are embedded. One of these, the black jewel, is called the <<giant container>>. It is a magical jewel that can store an endless supply of any large object. Nanana, who once traveled around the world, used it to store and bring back a great deal of treasure. Even more than that, she used it to seal away the most dangerious and heinous objects she had obtained.
「Bingo.」
And now she can see that a rather eerie tag has been affixed to that black gem, as if it were literally sealing something away. It seems that something has remained sealed here, from Nanana’s time until now. It is still here, inside.
Sansa smiles fearlessly as she looks back on the <<game>>. Sansa, who has been meddling in the <<game>>, was beaten by Shiki, Nanana, and Ikkaku. She also made Koma angry, but we’ll set that aside for now because we want to please him. Either way, she kept losing.
But on the other hand, she was able to make Tetsunoshin’s wish come true. She was able to retrieve Yun safely. And now, she has the object she was after in her hands. Now the question is, who really was the winner of the <<game>>?
「Well, shall we go and see the treasure now?」
Without hesitation, Sansa peels off the seal tag from the black jewel.
「Watch out, Sansa.」
And immediately, a large white tiger appears, growling.
「What’s wrong, Hakutei?」
「There’s something there.」
For quite some time after this point, Sansa Kurosu was troubled by what that something was.
2
「Of course it was Sansa」, Nanana said, suddenly showing a sour look.
「Um… Nanana. So, what abilities does this sword have?」
Nanana groaned for a while with a difficult expression on her face, then she looked somewhat sulky.
「So, I’ll tell you about the abilities of this <<sword of Nanana>>, all-knowing Juugo!」
「Why are you treating me like an idiot? And why are you in a bad mood?」
「I wonder. I wonder why….」
I pry, but her smile is kind of scary, so I’ll stop prying any further.
「Um… so?」
「This sword has four abilities. The first one is that it can <<freely resize>>.」
Well that explains it plainly… not! After Nanana spoke the name of the unique ability, she placed her hand on the jewel on the hilt and swung the sword. In an instant, the <<sword of Nanana>> vanished like magic… No wait, it became the size of her finger.
「Oh!」
「By the way, this is its original size.」
She did the same movement as before. She touched the hilt of the shrunken sword, and when she swung it, it returned to the size it was before.
「Amazing, amazing!」, I said, clapping, like it was a magic trick.
「If you wear this as a necklace or bracelet, it won’t get dirty and is easy to carry around. You won’t have to worry about security checks at the airport.」
Wow, that’s an oddly specific example of its use, don’t you think? Nanana had to have definitely done that when she was alive.
「And next is <<past vision>>. If you cut with it… although in this state it can’t even cut a vegetable, but it will allow you to peek into the past of anyone who the sword touches.」
「Yeah, that!」, I shouted out, and Nanana jumped in surprise.
「Eh, what?」
「That’s the important part! I mean, that was my goal in getting this!」
Nanana looked confused.
「Um, what do you mean?」
「So that’s how I’m going to get a peek into Nanana’s past!」
In an instant, Nanana disappeared, and reappeared behind the chair at the computer desk.
「Juugo’s a pervert.」
Nanana glares at me while hiding behind the back of the chair.
「No, no, it’s not like that!」
「Then what do you mean? Looking into other people’s memories is what you want. It’s invasion of privacy!」
Nanana throws up her hands in anger.
「No. What I’m saying is if we use this we can see who killed you, Nanana.」
I mention the old story Nanana had told me before about a white fox named Ketekete, and told her my plan. By looking into Nanana’s past, I could see the face of her murderer in memories.
「I see… Yeah, I see. That sounds like a good idea.」
「Right! …So, can I do it?」, I ask Nanana timidly.
「But, well… it’s a bit embarrassing.」
Yeah, that fidgety look was super cute though. <3
「But you know, Juugo tried his best for me.」
「Well, when you say it like that… now I’m a bit embarrassed too.」
I couldn’t help but fidget myself.
After thinking for a while, Nanana’s answer was….
「Okay, it’s fine.」
「Really?」
「Yeah. But… you can’t look at anything else.」
When she said that while looking up, I couldn’t help but bow deeply and say, 「Sir, yes sir!」
「So Nanana. Let’s get straight to it, how do you actually use it?」
「Well, I think you can just slash at me in this state….」
And so Nanana holds out the <<sword of Nanana>>. She hands it over.
「You seem a bit unsure of yourself.」
「That’s because I’ve never really used it like this before. I didn’t really like the idea of looking my past when I was in a bad mood… So I thought, maybe if you don’t look at it too much.」
I see, that might be true. So I ask again.
「Um… is it really ok if I look?」
「Yeah, I trust you Juugo. Just do it properly.」
As someone who has led a shady life (as the heir to a family of thieves), I couldn’t help but shed a tear when seeing her trusting smile.
「I swear! I swear Nanana-chan!」
「Very well. Shall we get started, then?」
「Oh, sure」, I said, but Nanana and I didn’t move.
There was a moment of silence. Well, when I tried to do it, I was a bit confused.
「Okay, it’s kind of embarrassing, so let’s do it like a period drama.」
「What the heck? That’s strange.」
「Let’s go with Kira! Let’s be in the palace.」
「What the hell is that choice!? But maybe that would help me too!
So, to break the awkward atmosphere, they role play.
「Hey, you idiot Asano!」
Uenosuke Nanana suddenly flips the table.
「That happened out of nowhere! And you seemed very dramatic too.」
「My selling point has always been dramatic acting!」
「That’s the first time I’ve heard of this!」
Nanana-chan stood up and roared, ‘Growwwl’.
Isn’t that more like a monster from a low budget movie than a warrior? …. Oh well.
「Well, then… Kozukenoske Kira, prepare yourself! Thump!」
Not to be outdone, I stood up and raised my <<sword of Nanana>> and swung it down at Nanana-chan in one slash.
「Guuuuh, I’m done for….」
Nanana-chan, who was slashed by it, (well actually it just passed through her because of her ghost abilities), overreacted and fell to the floor, thrashing about as she ‘died’.
And then there was silence in room 202.
「So… how’s did it go, Juugo?」
Nanana-chan immediately got up as if nothing had happened. But when asked that, I had no choice but to give this answer;
「Well, there wasn’t really anything………..」
Then, suddenly, everything went dark.
3
「Because I’m quite interested?」
The mean-looking man in front of me says with a slightly embarrassed look on his face… but wait, that’s me.
Hearing me say this, my mouth naturally relaxes. My heart warms.
「Okay, Nanana! Let’s play a game, a game! …..」
I came out after being holed up in the bathroom for over two hours, one arm bandaged. The sadness in my heart was blown away by my sudden emotion, and before long I found myself smiling naturally. I felt relieved. OK, maybe this girl is someone I will be ok to be with.
「Sorry, I made a mistake.」
A boy I didn’t recognize suddenly walked into the room. I wonder who it is. But he seemed like an interesting guy.
「Well, I’ll be off now.」
The woman in front of me is a stranger. But my heart feels so painful and sad it feels like it could burst.
「But you said you’d find the person who killed me.」
I understand. It’s the memory of our separation.
「Because….」
「… because you’re going to get killed, right?」
