Introduction
Look as hard as I might, I can no longer find any heart-pounding adventures in this world.
All the ancient ruins on earth have been investigated, and their histories revealed. The only places that humanity has left to explore the ocean depths. Also, I have no interest in Outer Space. Those places don’t interest me because there is no prize to chase in those voids of nothingness.
What interested me in exploring ruins was the challenge of finding hints from old literature and explorers, solving the puzzles, and obtaining the treasures that reside within them.
Yes, it was the battle against those lost civilizations that made it worth putting one’s life on the line. For me, the rewards (great achievements, riches, and mysterious treasures that boggle the mind) that I obtained as a result of these battles are badges of honor.
Earning these treasures was the biggest thrill of my life.
Yet, that was a story of the past.
In this modern age, there are no such places left unexplored. This is because I had explored and revealed them all.
In short, this is a very bad situation.
I couldn’t integrate back into modern society. I find the modern world is severely monotonous and boring. Up to this point, the reason I could somehow survive was because there was an adventure. With that thrill gone, I feel like I will go crazy. I would describe my current life as living. ‘Life’ is merely a euphemism for this torturous state.
This is why I strongly feel that adventure is a necessity.
Currently, my life is so boring that it is causing me to be depressed. Surely future generations will be even more bored than I am.
Maybe it’s better if the children of the world grew up without knowing this excitement.
The feeling of pursuing the curiosity burning deep within one’s self and chasing one’s dreams, to know these and have to give up on them is like death.
I was constantly thinking of ways to fix this problem. A while ago, while eating pudding, I came up with a splendid idea.
It was a no brainer, what a great idea!
There is no other choice. If there are no more ruins to explore, I shall make them.
Humanity won’t die if there are puzzles to solve, and a heart to challenge those puzzles.
As long as those two things exist there is no doubt that people will keep their smiles.
Now, about the specifics…

Prologue
「Now then, I’ll be going」, said Kasumi Konjo as she took her bag and stood up.
「Are you really going?」, the other young girl said, pouting her lips.
Kasumi nodded at her.
「Yes」
「Why not extend your school enrollment for like another five years?」
Kasumi laughed at this cheerfully.
「Please don’t say such sad things. I mean I’ve already graduated high school you know.」
「Can’t you go to the college on this island? There are all sorts of programs that will look good on your resume」
「This is fine okay? I’m choosing to pursue my dream」
「You are quite confident in your decision aren’t you?」
「Of course I am because I can see my destiny.」
Kasumi took a round mirror out of her bag and held it up.
「With this Mirror of Foretelling I can foresee my future」
「What is that? That sounds like something you made up」
The young girl looked away seemingly angry. Meanwhile, Kasumi wryly smiled as she put the mirror away in her bag.
「As the person who hid this treasure can you not admit what it does?」
「… You promised me you would find the person who murdered me」 the young girl murmured.
At this Kasumi stopped smiling.
「Sorry, but I can’t do that. I can’t take on that role. Because…」
「If you chase after the murderer, you will be killed, right?」
Kasumi nodded.
「Yes, that is the prophecy that the mirror showed me.」
「You know who the murderer is, don’t you?」
「Yes, I know who it is」
「But, you can’t tell me who it is, can you?」
「Yes, I cannot tell you. That is linked to the destiny in which I am killed.」
That meant Kasumi could do nothing more for her.
「Then hurry up and go. Get out of this room. I don’t want to see you anymore.」
The young girl had a sad look on her face. She then shooed Kasumi off
「Shoo shoo, go.」
「You don’t need to shoo me away, I’ll leave. But I’ll never forget these three years with you.」
At Kasumi’s words, the girl turned her back wordlessly. However, was it her imagination? The girl’s back was shivering.
Kasumi could not help but want to hug the girl’s back. However, Kasumi could not hug her. No, if the girl closed her heart, no one would be able to even touch her.
That was why Kasumi left this prophecy of hope:
「It’s alright. Even if it was impossible for me, surely the next tenant of this room will grant your wish」
Saying this Kasumi headed towards the entrance. If she didn’t leave now she might miss the ship.
「Kasumi-chan」
When she had finished putting on her shoes she heard her name called. Kasumi turned around. The girl was looking at her from inside the room.
The young girl gave a thumbs up to Kasumi.
「Definitely become a picture book author, alright?」
At the young girl’s huge encouragement, Kasumi endured bursting out in tears, smiled, and gave the young girl a thumbs up too.
「Of course. If you are still cursed to this room and unable to go to heaven, definitely read my book okay?」
