As Grain raised his hand, I felt a torrent of magic power swirl inside him.
「Eat this!!」
He fired off a Red Bullet. At the same time I fired off a Blue Bullet, offsetting his spell.
It seems like Grain is able to use magic after all.
「Kuhaha. I bet you’re shocked! Do you want to know why I can use magic?! It’s all because Kane used his Screen Point in order to kill the magic bug inside my body!」
I see, I was wondering why he could use magic, but now it all makes sense. Kane used Screen Point on Grain in order to eliminate the magic from his body, and due to constantly living in that state without magic, the magic bug inside his body perished. Grain and Kane huh. They sure are a troublesome combo. For now, we should create some distance.
Just as I thought that I was swallowed by the dust in front of me.
「Damn i…!」
「Zeph-kun!!」
From within the smoke Kane emerged wielding a sword, at the same time Claude also appeared holding her shield to stop him.
「Both of you die!!」
「Urgh…!!」
Claude made a troubled expression just as she stopped Kane’s attack with her shield.
As Kane came closer to me my magic began to be sucked in.
What a powerful Screen Point… To think that even Platinum Break wouldn’t work. Did he perhaps finally awaken as a Mage Killer?!
It seemed like even Divine Sword Ainbelle was being influenced by his Screen Point, as the blade of the sword began to shake.
Seeing all of that Claude stood before me and spoke to me.
「Zeph-kun, please take care of Grain!」
「Thank you. Do you think you can hold off Kane until I do that?!」
「… If you don’t hurry I’ll end up defeating him you know?」 Claude said and proceeded to pull out the sword resting at her hip.
I just stood there seeing Claude standing up to Kane.
I’m always being protected by this small back, aren’t I?
「… Got it. However, don’t make me say it again, don’t go overboard okay?」
「Okay!」 Claude said energetically as Kane looked down on her with a wry smile.
「Did you take your final farewell Claude?」
「I… We won’t die in a place like this!!」
Behind me I could hear the violent sounds of Kane and Claude’s sword clashing.
However, I still continued to run without looking back.
After having already left Kane up to her, there was no point for me to turn back.
I was going to fulfil my part. I was going to kill Grain.
As if Grain had noticed my intention, he looked down on me and laughed.
「This is perfect. I had the same idea from the start…」
「Hmph. I’ll tell you just in case, but don’t think I’m the same as before.」
「That goes for me as well.」
We spoke as we stood facing each other.
If I took a step forward Grain would also take a step forward.
We continued to walk forward towards one another and as Grain finally entered my range the edges of his mouth curved upward.
Bring it on!
I gripped Divine Sword Ainbelle and released my killing intent.
Claude, who won’t go all out against her brother might lose if I don’t take care of this fast. On the other hand, I bet that Kane won’t hold back at all against Claude.
I had already seen it once when Kane first swung his sword at Claude in the forest. Back I felt no hesitation from his swing.
At this rate Claude will be killed. I don’t have the time to play around.
Just as I thought of using Time Square in order to instantly kill Grain, I felt that Divine Sword Ainbelle was trembling even more than before.
And then Ain spoke directly into my head.
《B-Be careful gramps… That guy is bad news…!》
《I know. He’s someone who managed to escape the Association with his own power. He’ll do anything to win.》
《No… I didn’t mean that… I just have a reallllly bad feeling about this, so be careful!!》 said Ain.
Could the reason why Divine Sword Ainbelle has been trembling from a while ago not be because of Kane’s Screen Point, but rather because of Grain? Is there really something else to him…?
「What are you daydreaming about! Fight me properly!」
「?!! Damn it!!」
I wielded Divine Sword Ainbelle in order to block Grain’s jumping attack. As I did that proceeded to swing down Divine Sword Ainbelle while at the same time casting Time Square.
While time was stopped I cast Black Crash and Green Crash.
Also, I had secretly stored Red Crash into Divine Sword Ainbelle while approaching earlier, so I used that as well.
Triple Fusion: Volcano Crash.
With a roaring sound, a bright red lava burst forth towards Grain.
The liquid that splashed forth from my spell landed on the ground, burning it.
Volcano Crash was a spell that had the power to take down a powerful monster with just one strike.
With this I’ll be able to see where his confidence stems from…!
As I stepped back a few steps to avoid the explosion, within it a long shadow shook.
「Grain…!」
「Kuku, is that all you got?」
Grain’s body was somewhat burnt, however besides that the spell hadn’t caused much damage.
His body was being covered by a thin membrane made out of magic power.
This is…
「Screen Point?!」
「Oh? So you noticed.」
Grain was somehow using Kane’s Screen Point.
It probably had something to do with Grain’s Unique Spell.
Damn, this suddenly got quite troublesome…!
「Kuku. Fine I’ll tell you. You see, my Unique Spell allows me to use my friends’ spells… You can view it as me borrowing my friend’s power to fight.」
Hearing his words Ain’s voice exploded out of Divine Sword Ainbelle.
「Friends? Don’t be ridiculous!! Even though those kids could still fight… A guy like you who kills his own servants has no right to call them friends!!」
「Huh…?」 saying that Grain made a gesture which showed that he was thinking about something, after which she clapped his hands as he seemed to have remembered Ain.
「You… You’re the servant from back then aren’t you? … You’re within my ‘to kill list’ as well so don’t worry.」 laughed Grain as he held onto his missing eye.
Seeing his smug face, me and Ain glared back at him.
「I’ll never forgive you…!!」
「You heard her Grain!」
However, I couldn’t allow myself to get way too heated.
Even Volcano Crash caused almost no damage.
Also, all of the spells that I had stocked up within Divine Sword Ainbelle were already gone, and my magic power was running low as well.
I had to take care of him quickly… I shot my hand within my pouch and took out a Spirit Power Recovery Medicine.
It was a type of medicine which completely restored one’s Magic Power. I bought it while still in the capital, before coming to Sazan Island.
Noticing me do that, Grain began to laugh.
「Huh? Did you already run out of Magic Power? You’re wasting your time though. Magic doesn’t work on me!」
「I wonder about that.」
I cast Time Square and while time was stopped I proceeded to cast Red Crash and Black Crash. I then proceeded to stock the newly formed Pyro Crash inside Divine Sword Ainbelle.
《U…rgh…!!》
Even though she still showed slight signs of struggling it seemed like she was able to handle it way better than before.
I held Divine Sword Ainbelle as it began to shine in red and black, and pointed it at the laughing Grain.
「Are you aiming to use that so-called Tetra Crash spell that I lost to last time? I hate to break it to you, but it won’t work.」
「If you’re so certain then why don’t you try it then!!」
Grain began to cast a spell in order to welcome my attack.
Black Crash huh. I already expected that though. After all, on top of having the effect of pushing away enemies that were getting close, it also has a short cast time, Black Crash is perfect for this situation.
I offset his spell with a Green Crash, and a curtain of smoke rose up. Within the sword me and Grain crossed swords.
Every time my sword crashed with Grain’s particles of Magic Power flew off, and were immediately swallowed by Grain’s Screen Point.
《Ouch!! Gramps! It hurts! I’m not made for fighting so please be gentle!!》
《Endure it! Aren’t you a sword!》
《I’m more of a ceremonial sword!!!》
She still continued to crack jokes even while she was complaining.
However, I could clearly feel that Ain’s Magic Power was steadily disappearing each time I clashed with Grain.
「What’s wrong? Is that all you got?!」
「Urgh…?!!」
With Grain’s slash a small part of Divine Sword Ainbelle was chipped away and the scattered Magic Power disappeared into the void.
Grain’s swordsmanship was quite good and I was gradually pushed back.
「Come on now!!」
The sound of clashing metal constantly rang in my ears as I barely managed to block Grain’s relentless strikes.
Looking at the sides it seemed like Claude was getting pushed back by Kane as well.
Each time Kane’s sword danced, Claude made a painful face. Kane’s sword ran past her cheek, leaving a bloody line after it.
I must finish this as soon as possible… But I just can’t find an opening…
Divine Sword Ainbelle’s Magic Power began to steadily decline each time I received Grain’s sword.
Just a single opening, just a single one…
《I just need to make an opening right?》
Ain, who was always fooling around, suddenly spoke in a serious manner.
The blade of the sword then suddenly began shining.
「Huh?! What are you planning? You should know that magic won’t work on me!!」
Divine Sword Ainbelle let out a blinding light. Seeing that Grain laughed in a boastful manner. Certainly, as Grain said, even the blinding light, that was made out of magic power, wouldn’t work on him due to his Screen Point.
「Ainbelle!!!」
Without caring about that Ain continued to shine even brighter.
「HYAA!!」
Alongside Ain’s shout, a small fist landed itself on Grain’s cheek.
And then, Grain’s mouth, which was boastfully laughing down on us just now, was promptly closed with a rattling noise.
Looking towards my hand, I saw that a small arm had appeared from Divine Sword Ainbelle.
Is this Ain’s arm? Did she revert half of her sword form and hit Grain?
However, Ain’s desperate attack was quite absurd, and her protruding arm soon turned into particles of light and disappeared.
I could feel that Ain’s Magic Power had almost completely run out, and that her Divine Sword form would collapse any moment now.
「Nonetheless, good job Ain.」
