Volume 3 Chapter 1 Part 5

People even stopped laughing at them and their eyes slowly moved away from them, since nothing interesting was happening with them anymore. Several groups then formed pairs and started dancing around Siluca and Theo.

As Theo realized that his role was done, he went back to the place where he originally was with Siluca when tne current song ended and the next song started.

「I thought it would be easy just by looking at it. 」

Theo said while tilting his head in confusion.

「That is because it was your first time. The next one is going to be easier. 」

Siluca spoke the comforting words to him.

「I do not know if I will be able to get better if I continue, but I cannot afford to get laughed at like I did today at the Fantasia Union’s Lord’s Conference, that is for sure. 」

「I will have to practice as well, since as you could see, I am not a very good dancer either. 」

Siluca sighed heavily. She knew very well that if she would be the one to dance with Vilar, then she would definitely be the one who would be kicking his shins and stepping onto his feet.

「Looks like it is going to be a long night. Let us try that again later. 」

Theo said with a determined expression.

「If that is what you want, then so be it. 」

Siluca smiled and nodded at him.

It was then that a black figure approached them

「It was certainly an interesting show you put up back there. 」

The prince of the small continent of Dartania, who was wrapped in jet-black clothes, said so and laughed out loud.

「Are you sure that you are not more talented as a clown than as a Lord? 」

「Even if I were to be a clown, then if my talent for being one was recognized by a judge of character as excellent as you, Lord Milza, then it means that thi is something that I can be proud of for the rest of my life. 」

Theo replied with a smile.

「As expected, you are definitely an interesting man. I do not like you at all. 」

Milza spat those words back at him.

「Thank you for the compliment. 」

Theo bowed to him briefly.

(Lord Theo, you truly are amazing.)

Siluca gloated about Theo to herself.

Theo’s reply might have sounded as if he was submissive towards him. But those were actually words of bitter irony, because Milza was originally the one who was speaking nothing but rude words towards Theo.

(Even so, why is this prince always attacking Lord Theo like that?)

Siluca also disliked this man and was wary of him at all times, however, Milza is the heir to the great Viceroy who united the tribes of the small continent of Dartania together and turned it into a country that it is now.

He is a master swordsman and a holder of the rank of a Semi-Earl who said that if he were to fight him in one on one combat, then even Vilar, who is known to be a master swordsman himself, would not be able to win against him. By all accounts and purposes, he should be ignoring someone like Theo, who was nothing but a lowly Knight right now. But in spite of that, he seemed to be always getting out of his way just so that he could throw a few harmful words towards Theo and look down on him.

However, Milzer always says something that looks down on Theo.

「Keep me company for a while. 」

Milza then called out as if he was in a bad mood.

「Are you asking me to go drinking with you? 」

Theo asked him back.

「Even if I did invite you to drink, your presence would only serve to make the alcohol taste that much fouler. Do not ask any questions and just come to the backyard of the castle without your formal clothes and with your weapon only. 」

「I am afraid I would have to ask Lord Villar about… 」

「I have already obtained consent from the Earl for this, so do not worry yourself with that. 」

Milza said sullenly and quickly left the hall.

「Was… Was I just challenged to a duel by him? 」

Theo looked back at Siluca with a wry smile on his face.

「If he really did not obtain consent for this from Lord Vilar, then he would not be coming forward with this challenge to you at all, so he must be serious about this. However, I sincerely doubt that he is going to go all out against you now, so he is probably going t call it a practice sparring so that he could personally show you the difference between his abilities and yours. 」

「I know that I do not need to accept his challenge if I do not want to, but… 」

Theo sighed.

「But if it is going to be just a practice battle, then I will be more than happy to put up with him, since just like he taught me last time, there is nothing wrong with the desire to get stronger. 」

Since he did not specify that he wants you to come alone, then allow me to accompany you. If anything were to happen to you, then at the very least I should be able to take you to 「The Spiral」Helga-senpai quickly… 」

The person that Siluca was talking about, 「Helga the Spiral 」was one of the Magic University’s most gifted student at the Green Faculty of Life Magic, and she was also widely regarded as one of the most talented healers in the entire Mages Association.

She is especially good at regenerating destroyed tissues, and it is said that she is even able to heal injuries without leaving a single scar on the bodies of her patients. According to the rumors that Siluca heard about her, she was even capable of creating synthetic humans by sowing human corpses together.

「Does that… Does that mean that I can rest assured? 」

Theo asked worriedly as they returned to the room given to him by Vilar.

「No, I would still like to ask you to be careful not to die by accident, because the process of resuscitation is known to not be successful 100 % of the time, and it is not uncommon to get seriously hurt or even lose your life during the practice duels if one or both sides do not exercise enough caution. 」

That being said, if Siluca so much as senses Miza’s intention to seriously hurt Theo, she is not going to stand idly by and do nothing about it either.

(The number of people who lose their lives in Chaos related accidents is by no means small, so one more person should not make any difference.)

Siluca mutters to herself in her mind.

After returning to her room and throwing a winter coat over her dress, Siluca reunited with Theo and the two of them headed for the backyard. Theo had taken off his formal attire and changed into his casual clothes. Not only did he he have a sword with him, but he also had a shield as well.

「Those clothes were rather expensive. Were they not? It probably took a lot of time to make them, so it would be a real shame if they got ripped, right? 」

Siluca smiled and nodded at Theo’s words.

「Thank you for being so considerate. 」

The territory ruled by Theo is large, but it was all within the boundaries of The Forest of Eternal Darkness, where the concentration of Chaos was always incredibly high. Managing such a territory was not an easy task, and that is why Theo always preferred his casual clothing to a formal one, because it was much easier to move and fight in his regular getup.

Siluca guided Theo to the backyard. It was a long, narrow garden sandwiched between the castle and the wall facing the sea.

It is already late at night and everything around them was pitch black. A bonfire was burning in the middle of the garden, and Milza was standing beside it, hiding in the darkness.

Siluca then proceeded to light some magical lights on the castle walls with her magic wand, illuminating the backyard. The guards patrolling the ramparts gathered to see what was going on, but after seeing who was in the backyard, they went back to work without uttering as much as a single word. They must have been curious about what would happen from now on, but the crime of violating orders for the purpose of pursuing your own entertainment was too heavily punishable one for them to be willing to risk it.
