Volume 5 Chapter 3 Part 10

She threw away the broom and spread both her hands to stop herself from getting rotated too much. The ground was getting closer and closer, but she supported her body from below with her Still Movement Magic and gradually decreased her falling speed until she came to a full stop when she was inches short of hitting the ground.

(Since I learned how to fly in the sky, then it should be a given that I’ve trained how to fall properly as well!)

As Siluca stood back on the ground, she looked up at the sky above her head. At that time, Aishela did exactly what she was expecting her to do.

Just like a real Valkyrie, she soared through the skies and bisected the Black Witch’s broom with a slash from her glaive.

(The Black Witch might be good at flying on her broom, but let’s see how good you’re going to be at flying without it! )

Siluca taunted the Black Witch like that in her mind.

「Hyiiii… !!! 」

Yana screams as she started falling towards the ground head-first.

When the female warrior carried by the Witch from Elam jumped into the air, Yana expected many things to happen, but she never expected that she was going to actually turn herself in midair in order to reach her with her weapon.

Yana manages to dodge her blade herself, but because of that, the handle of her broomstick ended up receiving the strike and got cut in half.

When that happened, the clean image of herself flying through the air completely disappeared from Yana’s head. Needless to say, she has never tried to fly without her broom before, so she didn’t know what she should be doing now. If she ends up hitting the ground the way she is now, then she will definitely die in an instant.

In her desperation, she could only think of one way to avoid certain death.

「Oh mud, oh swamp, protect me! 」

Yana looked at the ground where she was supposed to fall, pointed her hand at it and shouted a spell to turn it into a quagmire that should break her fall. Originally, it was a spell that she developed for the purpose of keeping the unwanted intruders away from her hideout at The Forest of Eternal Darkness.

「Become deeper, become softer! 」

While trying to make the bog as deep and soft as possible, Yana finally fell into the quagmire that she had created. The impact when she hit the ground was still strong, but fortunately the quagmire became soft enough to cushion her fall and hold her body firmly in place to the extent that she didn’t break any of her bones.

For a while she struggled to get herself out, but eventually she ended up rising back to the surface of the muddy swamp. She was covered in mud from head to toe, and she even had some of it in her mouth and nose, and it all stunk horribly. However, she had no one but herself to blame for that, because the only swamp she could imagine was the one that was emitting miasma.

「Khhhh..! 」
Grinding her teeth in anger, Yana slowly crawled out of the swamp. She wanted nothing more than to take revenge against the Witch from Elam, but without her broom, there was little she could do against her.

Yana looked around the battlefield until she found Salvador. Her new lover was currently locked in combat with Theo Cornero, but it was clear at a glance that he was struggling to keep up.

(Looks like I have no choice but to run away…..)

Yana sighed.

(Please be safe, Lord Salvador.)

Calling out to Salvador in her mind, Yana then fled from the battlefield.

* * *

At the same time as Yana made her retreat, the Assassin Boltz was also in the middle of his own desperate escape.

Acting on the orders of Salvador Rossini, he led his men down the hill and challenged the Chamberlain of the enemy’s army to a battle, but then the two girls dressed in maid uniforms suddenly turned into Werewolves and started tearing through his forces. The Black Witch did say that they were the daughters of the Werewolf Queen, but he only just now realized exactly what did that entail.

The movements of the two Werewolves were terrifyingly agile, and even if they were injured by the soldier’s weapons, the wounds they received from them were shallow at best, so they remained calm and collected. On top of that, all of their injuries were quick to regenerate. Boltz’s subordinates were all Assassins who were just as skilled as he was, but even so, they ended up being defeated one after another.

Boltz himself fought against the enemy’s Chamberlain by himself, but just like it was during their brief skirmish back in Halusia, it didn’t seem like neither of them could finish the battle with their victory anytime soon.

his enemy’s chamberlains for a while, but as with Halusia, the battle seemed unlikely.

(If I continue to fight him fairly, my chances of winning will be pretty much nonexistent.)

Once he reached that conclusion, Boltz decided that his best option is to run away, because Salvador Rossini is not the Lord whom he’s serving, and so he’s not worth dying for.

(However, I will definitely fulfill my mission. I will definitely defeat that chamberlain with my own hands, even if it’s the last thing I’ll do!)

Boltz made an oath to himself. He’s an Assassin after all, and Assassins have their own way of fighting.

When Irvin saw that the enemy Assassin fled the battlefield, he didn’t chase after him, because he knew that he was his target, not Siluca or Theo.

(In that case, there should be no problems.)

Stopping that Assassin was an important mission, but Irvin is first and foremost a Chamberlain, and a Chamberlain’s most important duty is to ensure their master’s safety.

After Irvin made sure that all of the soldiers of the enemy’s Assassin have been taken care of, he rushed back to Siluca, who was currently in the middle of treating Aishela’s wounds.

Because she went too high when she jumped off of Siluca’s broom, she ended up breaking her leg when she landed back on the ground. She might be an Artist, but even Artists have limits of how durable their bodies can be.

「I’m sorry… 」

Siluca was apologizing to Aishela over and over while connecting her broken bones back together with her Life Magic.

「If only… I could’ve jumped… once more… I would’ve turned that bitch from a mud-soaked mess into a blood-soaked mess! 」

Aishela looked annoyed while enduring her treatment.

「There’s nothing we can do about it now. At the very least we forced her to escape, which means that she won’t be able to interfere with the course of the battle here anymore. And we cannot forget that there’s still the real enemy that needs to be taken care of here. 」

After comforting Aishela, Siluca turned her gaze back towards Theo.

Right now, Theo was fighting against the real enemy that Siluca mentioned: Salvador Rossini.

(Damn it! This isn’t how this was supposed to go…!!!)
As he continued to swing his sword, Salvador Rossini was getting more and more impatient.

Everything was going fine until Theo Cornero has been brought to him, but now that his ambush turned into an unruly brawl and he had no choice but to challenge him to an actual fight, everything went south really quickly.

He had absolute confidence in his own sword skills. During the time he has spent studying abroad in Elam, participating in duels was one of his favorite hobbies. He was always fighting to impress the women around him and always made sure to kill all of his opponents.

Theo Cornero’s fighting style was by no means spectacular in any way, but it was not about just his style alone. He was using not only his sword and his shield, but he was also taking full advantage of the full body armor that he was wearing in order to defend himself from the attacks that Salvador kept on launching towards him.

Although he managed to injure his face and arms in several places, none of these wounds were deep enough to be considered fatal ones. And on top of that, even though Theo was wearing a set of heavy armor and was constantly moving around, his breathing wasn’t in the least bit disturbed.

(This is bad…)

Many of his soldiers have already been killed in action and, and pretty soon he’s going to be surrounded be the enemy forces. On top of that, neither Boltz nor Yana shown any signs of coming back to his side, and it didn’t look like that would change anytime soon.

(I have no choice but to run away…. )

Salvador made up his mind.
