Volume 7 Chapter 1 Part 10

Emma asked, not seeing any potential solutions to their current situation.

「Remember, right now, Siluca and Irvin aren’t here, so if you do something selfish, you’ll get scolded. 」

Luna gave him some sensible advice.

「I think it’s best not to push ourselves too hard. 」

Priscilla, who was listening to their conversation, also agreed with that opinion. Theo had no objections to it either, but…

「If we go back to the mansion like this, we won’t know who they are. Let’s go somewhere out of sight, just as they hoped we would. 」

It was just his intuition, but Theo don’t really feel like the person who was tailing them meant any harm to them. And if they were posing any threat to them, the he was confident that he and the twins could take care of them, even more so since Emma and Luna were together. By themselves, each of them has already reached the level of strength that could only be called superhuman, but whenever they’re fighting side by side, their power becomes many times greater still. Because of that, Emma and Luna played a big role in defeating Charybdis and capturing the Black Witch.

「Is there a suitable place for that nearby? 」

Theo asked the twins.

「Maybe we should head somewhere with less noise and smells? 」

Emma answers.

「If there is such a place nearby, then take us there, please. 」

「Understood! 」

The twins nodded cheerfully and headed in a certain direction while walking side by side with Theo. As they approached the corner of the street they were currently on, they pretended to walk into an alley, and they ended up in front of a building that looked like a warehouse, but in comparison to the street before, there was practically not a living soul to be found here.

Then they saw that he warehouse door was opening. There was a warehouse keeper at the front where he was loading and unloading his belongings, but when he finished and went around to the back of it, there was nobody in the immediate vicinity anymore.

「Well, how is it? 」

Theo muttered this after making sure there was no one around.

「Looks like they’re following us just fine. 」

Luna said, looking behind her. When Theo turned his gaze there, he saw two figures wearing hoods now

「They’re coming from the left, right, and front. We’re surrounded. 」

When they each checked, they found that exactly ten people, including the two behind them, were heading towards them.

「I guess that means they’ve accepted my invitation then. 」

Theo didn’t move and decided to wait for someone from the other party to call out to him. “

「Lord Theo Cornero, I presume? 」

The others stopped about ten steps away, and one of them started doing something. He doesn’t try to take off his hood.

「Maybe. What is your business with me? 」

「There’s someone I’d like you to meet. 」

It was a man’s voice.

「Who is it? 」

「You’ll understand when you meet them. 」

The man said, paying attention to his surroundings.

「Hearing you say that doesn’t sound too inviting. 」,

Theo said while smiling bitterly.

「By any chance, are you…? 」

Priscilla let out a loud voice and approached the man who was talking to Theo. As she watched the man’s hood, she suddenly puts her hand on it and pulled it down.

「It’s been a while, priestess Priscilla…well, I guess you’re a bishop now, so I should say bishop Priscilla. 」

The man folded his arms in front of him and bowed slowly towards Priscilla.

「You are…「

「My name is Luchino, and I’m a priest at a church in this city.「

「Is he supposed to be your acquaintance from the Order of the Crest? 」

Theo called out to Priscilla.

「Yes. 」

Priscilla turned around and nodded.

「I was training at the cathedral of the Order of the Crest, and we studied there together. After I finished my training, he became a priest immediately and was sent back to assist Lord Theo, and ever since your status as a Lord began to increase, then my rank within the structures of the Order increased as well. 」

Theo certainly haven’t heard anything about Priscilla being a high-ranking member of the Order of the Crest, but then again, he had little to no interest in what kind of organization the Order of the Crest really was. However, he was always grateful to Priscilla for her dedication to her work, and is always impressed by her zeal for missionary work.

「If you have something to say to Lord Theo, then why didn’t you just contact me about it? 」

Priscilla turned to the priest named Luchino and asked.

「Archbishop Torkano told me that this matter was to be kept strictly confidential… he knew that bishop Priscilla was not good at lying at all, so you wouldn’t be able to convince Lord Theo Cornero to come meet with the Archbishop like that, but then one of the acolytes noticed that Lord Theo and his contracted Mage were acting separately today, so I thought that this might be our chance, and so I decided to act immediately…. However, I couldn’t bring myself to call out to him on the street, and I didn’t know what to do, and that’s how we’ve arrived here. 」

Priest Luchino tried to calms himself down while wiping the sweat, which has accumulated in great quantities, from his forehead.

「Is it Archbishop Torkano himself who wants to meet with Lord Theo? 」

Priscilla said in surprise. Of course, Theo had no idea who the person that she was talking about was.

「Priscilla, if that is someone you know, then I guess I can meet them, but if that someone is a person of importance, then I’ll have to ask Siluca about it beforehand. Is that okay with you? 」

「Please tell the Archbishop about that. 」

Priest Luchino sighed.

「Okay, I’ll go and meet that person, but If you don’t want to stand out, just don’t put on that hood and head to the place you want to take me by yourself. We’ll follow you.’ 」

There’s no need for him to make sure we’re following him. We’ll never lose sight of you. 」

「I remember your scent now, so even if you run away, you won’t go very far. 」

「I know the sound of your footsteps as well. 」

Emma and Luna nodded at each other while threatening Luchino.

「Thank you for always being so vigilant. 」

Theo placed his hand lightly on the twins’ heads and patted them. Just that one action was enough to send the tails of both twins wagging in delight.

「Alright See you later then. 」

Priest Luchino bowed to them and left. After waiting for a while, Theo and his friends followed after him. He then entered a liquor inn. However, they discovered that the basement of the inn had become a secret place of worship for the Order of the Crest, which was disguised as a warehouse.

A white-haired old man wearing a loose white robe greeted Theo and his friends as they descended to the secret hideout of the Order of the Crest.

「It’s been a long time, Archbishop Torkano. 」

Priscilla greeted the old man with a smile and then she ran towards him.

「I’m glad to see you’re safe as well, Priscilla. 」

The Archbishop looked at her in a friendly manner and hugged Priscilla.

(What kind of relationship is this?)

It felt like they’re close to each other, like a close family members, and Theo also felt like the old man had a lot of respect for Priscilla.

「My name is Theo Cornero. 」

Theo introduced himself to the Archbishop and shook his hand. He and Priscilla came here alone at her behest, while the twins were left in the bar upstairs to keep watch while eating a sumptuous meal.

「I am Archbishop Torkano of the Diocese of the Order of the Crest. I heard about the situation from Luchino. He seems to have made some mistakes along the way, but in the end you came here, so all is good. 」

The archbishop had a gentle smile on his face, and I felt like he was genuine with his words. He even bowed to Theo. The priest from earlier had a more arrogant attitude towards him in comparison.

「Priscilla has been a good and trusted companion of mine. 」

He said.

She suddenly came to his castle around the time when Theo subjugated Lassic and others around his old territory and became a Baron for the first time. Siluca tried to drive her away because of her suspicions towards her.
