Kazuki and the others followed behind Master Garn, Rust, Alice, and a few elite soldiers and Mages.

Garn stopped and the mages proceeded to stand in a small circle. With a wave of their staffs, a formation was carved into the ground by either electricity or flames. After a few minutes, a circle with ancient symbols glowed with golden light on the ground.

Master Garn inspected the circle closely before giving a nod in approval. Stepping into the glowing circle’s center, Garn ordered.

“Everybody in.”

Rust stood on Garn’s left while Alice stood on Garn’s right. Kazuki and his group joined them and then the soldiers after that. Last but not least were the rest of the Mages.

Garn’s eyes glowed a golden purple and he gripped at the empty air. Twisting at the air the circle began to rotate.

“Lock.”

With that simple word, Kazuki felt a heavy pressure hold him in place. Asuna and the others shared similar looks, this was the same feeling they got when they were first summoned and they couldn’t move.

7 of the Mages poured their power into their staffs and directed that at the circle beneath them. The circle began to rotate faster and faster and the symbols upon the circle began to wiggle upward toward the sky as though they were golden worms reaching for the heavens. Garn calmed himself and gathered a power deep from within him. Pouring that power into his staff he gave it a strong stomp on the ground.

*Bang*

Using his staff as the epicenter, Garn’s power stretched out and completely engulfed the entire circle, forming 1 big barrier over everyone.

(Blink.)

With this small thought, a bright light flashed like a dying star and the entire group vanished.

Asuna had not seen it clearly last time because she was unconscious when she was first summoned but now she was witnessing space itself bend and warp around her. Her mind flooded with thoughts of wonder and her eyes shined brightly with one insight after another.

(So it was like this.)

Garn could see she was gaining some form of insight and decided to help her along.

“Young Asuna, don’t just observe with your eyes but also feel with your very being. This is a good opportunity for you to gain a few advantages here.”

Asuna wanted to nod in agreement but she was still frozen in place, still, she could feel a small sensation on her skin as well as a feeling in her Mage Core itself. Like small waves from an oceans current, a feeling of being pushed and pulled pulsed across her. This feeling was beyond odd to her but at the same time, it felt natural like it was always a part of her.

Asuna couldn’t help but feel amazed.

(Is this what Master Garn said about bending the elements to our will and turning chaos into order? This feeling, it’s incredible.)

A small quiet mountain, located nearly 4,000 miles to the west sat unmoving and undisturbed.

*Flash*

The sky filled with golden light for no more than 5 or 6 seconds before a circle appeared on the ground below. Inside the figures of several people appeared.

Master Garn took to the skies and looked at his surroundings.

(Good.)

Landing, he then informed everyone.

“It seems we’ve made it unscathed. Rust, if you would.”

Rust ordered his soldiers to scout out the area and they dashed off into different directions.

From the spot they were at they could see around them for many miles unimpeded. Shin got rather excited as he pointed in a certain direction.

“Look over there, isn’t that a city.”

Everyone looked over and sure enough, there were many buildings a few miles away.

Garn commented.

“That’s Sekou city, there’s around 3 million living there. The people there mainly rely on mining the ores and precious crystals and gems from the nearby mountains.”

“Eh, Sir Garn, I thought you said we were going to a swamp but I don’t see any such terrain anywhere. Just where exactly are we?”

Alice felt offended and barked.

“We’ve only just arrived and you’re already wasting Master’s time with a dumb question.”

Garn took his staff and bonked Alce on the head.

“Alice, how many times must I say it, stop it with the attitude. How would they know of this location if they’ve never been taught?”

Alice rubbed her head painfully and pouted.

“But Master, they’re so annoying and pesky with their questions. At least if they’re gonna bug Master, their questions shouldn’t be so dumb, right?”

Garn thought for a moment but didn’t agree nor disagree with Alice. He said he would devote himself to teaching these young heroes and if that meant answering every dumb question they had, he would undoubtedly do it. Garn ignored Alice and pointed toward the west.

“Right now we are in the Catear mountains. We’ll travel 30 or so miles to the west and then we’ll hit the Mirian swamplands.”

Shin and Alice shared a glare with one another. Alice constantly came off cold and shallow, something Shin and most everyone else couldn’t stand. Alice, on the other hand, hated the fact that heroes were summoned from another world. She believed as long as they had Master Garn then he could somehow pull it off. So she constantly looked down on the heroes. As a matter of fact, she looked down on the soldiers as well. Even if the soldiers had tattoo inscriptions to enhance their bodies with speed and strength, Alice found them inferior as well.

Shin saw a small red bump forming on Alice’s forehead. Touching the same spot on his forehead, he laughed at her mockingly.

“Hahaha, does it hurt?”

Alice’s eyes went wide and a few mages and soldiers began to snicker softly. She was about to throw some lightning when Garn got between the two.

“That’s enough.”

Just as he said that the scouts returned and reported back to Rust.

“Sir, no activity in the vicinity, nothing suspicious to report. All is normal.”

Garn gathered everyone up and spoke.

“We’ll be entering the Mirian swamp shortly. Altogether there are 24 of us. 8 Mages including me, 10 soldiers with Rust, add the young heroes, and we are 24. We will be staying around the outskirts only and will go no deeper. Rust will lead the front, my pupil Alice will take the middle while I hold the rear, this way nothing can break us. We should only come in contact with 3 or 4 different low-level creatures but nothing in life is guaranteed, so be on alert at all times.”

Garn then went on to explain a few more things before he pulled a few items from his storage ring.

First was several real weapons for Kazuki and the others. Up to this point they had only used real weapons a few times during training with dummies but now they would be facing live opponents. Shin seemed to be the only one excited for what was to come while everyone else seemed completely different.

Sam appeared nonchalant while Danny appeared to be petrified Kimi was nervous and Asuna was repeatedly telling her self, [“You can do this you can do this, you won’t mess up.”]

Kazuki had to try and match Shin’s enthusiasm and gripped his sword while smiling.

“Let do this!”

After handing out weapons he also took out a few potions and handed them to everyone. The soldier’s eyes shined as they held the precious bottles in their hands.

Garn removed the cork for a moment and gave the contents a whiff before placing the cork back.

“These are curing potions. As the name suggests, they can cure you of diseases and poisons. Once we get into the swamp, the amount of time required to heal you with just magic would take too much precious time and focus during combat. After combat is no problem, but during…”

Garn shook his head doubtfully before continuing.

“So you are to use these if there’s no other choice. A creature infects you or if you accidentally inhale some poisonous gas, don’t hesitate, retreat to a protector and immediately use a cure potion. Do you understand?”

Everyone nodded but that wasn’t enough of a response. Garn infused his voice with magic and bellowed.

“I SAID DO YOU UNDERSTAND!”

The soldiers were used to this and roared back.

“Yes, Sir!”

Shin and the rest were caught up in the atmosphere and responded in kind as well.

“Yes, Sir!”

Garn nodded in satisfaction before he turned and waved everyone to follow him.

“Let’s move!”

Asuna was curious as to why Garn didn’t just teleport everyone directly inside of the Mirian swamp instead of forcing everyone to run. Not that running was a problem. Now that Kazuki and the rest had enhanced bodies their strength, speed, stamina, and much much more increased several-fold. At the rate they were going they would probably enter the swamp within 2 hours with plenty of energy to spare.

Even the Mages who you would assume were the least physicality fit were using their own methods to keep up. Some would fly, some would decrease their weight with earth magic and some would shoot ice from their feet extending their stride from a normal 2 and a half feet although way up to 20 or 30 feet.

The more Asuna thought about just teleporting, the more curious she grew. Finally, she couldn’t resist.

“Master Garn, why don’t we just teleport inside the swamp directly? Why spend so much time running there instead?”

Master Garn thought for a bit and answered.

“Teleporting doesn’t just require a massive amount of magic. It requires a destination but it also has to be someplace you’ve already been to. If you can’t picture the location with great detail, then your Blink may be severely thrown off. That’s how you wind up in a volcano or a wall, hahaha.”

Asuna wasn’t laughing and she became worried.

“Hahaha, sorry about that. Don’t worry, you have an extreme talent when it comes to space magic, far more than mine, that’s for sure.”

Asuna then asked.

“If you have to have been there before, then how were we summoned to this world and not thrown out into space somewhere?”

“Oh, is that what you were thinking about? The answer is simple, really. It was me summoning you. So rather then thinking you went to me it was more like my bringing you to me. Hmm, maybe that doesn’t quite make sense but that’s about as clear as I can make it. I just had to know your location then I could bring you to mine.”

Asuna and the others looked at Garn in confusion, their eyes seemed to glaze over in a daze. Even Kazuki could barely comprehend what Garn had just said. For the rest of the journey to Mirian swamp, no one asked any more questions.
