The two Sky Beasts slowly spread out. One floated about 100 feet in front of Garn while the other floated behind him. Garn grunted in displeasure.

*Hnnh*

“Well, are you two going to make the first move or do I have to?”

Just as he said those words the two Sky Beasts shared a look.

*Roarrrrr!*

A pillar of fire was thrown at Garn and blades of wind were shot toward his back.

*FShhh*
*Shick Shick Shick*

Garn’s barrier took the exploding forces and a cloud of smoke rolled outward, covering a bit of the sky. As the small cloud of smoke dissipated, the Sky Beasts were surprised to see that Garn’s figure had disappeared.

Garn roared within his mind and waved his staff.

(Earth Spear!)

A large spear nearly 20 feet in length formed from the ground below and was launched upward at a terrifying speed.

“BROTHER BELOW YOU!”

Glancing below a large stone spear came flying towards it, with a twist of its large body the spear just grazed its side and a small line of blood dripped down. Focusing on the ground, the two Beast saw Garn smirking at them. Garn hollered up into the sky.

“Is that all.”

*Raaaaaaaa!*
*ROOAAARRRRR!*

The wind Sky Beast gathered air around its body and accelerated forward.

“I will feast on you as a snack.”

As the Sky Beast flew forward, a small tornado kicked up with it at its center. Landing on top of Garn’s barrier, the weight and force alone caused Garn and his barrier to sink a few feet into the dirt. Garn slammed his staff into the ground and three more earth spears stabbed out of the ground and launched themselves at the Sky Beast from three different angles.

A quick leap back and the spears missed by inches. Garn once more took to the sky and launched himself towards the other Sky Beast, surprising him. Just when Garn got in close a tail came flying towards his head.

*Bang*

The tail and the barrier collided but instead of the tail being bounced away Garn was actually forced back. Garn flew backward several feet before he stopped himself. Looking at the spot where the tail had connected a small tear could be seen and a few drops of a purplish-black substance were dripping down. As the few drops fell the places on the barrier they landed upon were quickly being eaten away.

(Damn!)

Garn tried to repair his barrier with magic but the purple liquid continued to degrade it. Garn was left with no choice but to dissipate his barrier momentarily and allow the rest of the foul liquid to fall away to the ground before he could replace it.

(That scorpion-like tail of theirs not only has enough strength to knock me back but the poison on that needle-like stinger can actually melt my barrier. I’ll have to keep a distance from them.)

The Sky Beasts seeing that their poison could actually penetrate Garn’s barrier smirked.

“Brother, just as we were told our poison is effective, we can do this.”

“You’re right, let’s do this.”

Garn was suspicious at what they meant but he had no time to worry about it now.

The two Beasts now had a plan of attack and decided to get in close to destroy his barrier. Once it was gone Garn would be easy prey.

Garn flew high into the sky and the Beasts gave chase. One was clearly a fire user while the other was a wind user. The fire user could be outrun but the wind user was seemingly on Garn’s ass and was gaining on him every second.

Garn’s eyes began to shine and he filled his staff with power. As the wind Beast was upon him Garn suddenly turned around.

(light of a 1000 stars.)

The crystal at the end of Garn’s staff lit up like a solar flare turning the sky a bright white. The wind Beast had no choice but to cover his eyes or suffer injury.

“Lightning!”

Garn pointed his staff toward the sky and a bolt of lightning struck his staff, gathering in it. As the blinding white light of the sky returned to normal Garn had gathered enough energy and shot it forward.

The lightning was concentrated and instead of moving erratically, with Garn’s power, he made it go in a straight line and head directly for the wind Beast’s chest.

Just as it was about to strike him, suddenly a large boulder-sized fireball intercepted the strike.

*Ka-Boom*

The wind Beast didn’t get off scot-free and instead took a bit of damage from the explosion in front of it. With a fast retreat, it flew to its brother’s side.

With a few slight burns on its body, it growled at Garn before thanking its brother.

“Thank you, that was close.”

“Forget it, if he tries that again simply retreat a bit and I’ll bring up the rear.”

Garn once more pointed his staff to the sky and began to gather more power. He had wanted to instantly finish one of the beasts off with that highly focused attack but it seems his luck was meager.

(I should have pushed forward until that other beast was left in the dust and then attacked. Damn, a perfectly good opportunity wasted.)

“Brother, give me a cage.”

“OK, just make sure you got my back.”

The wind Beast nodded at his brother before its black eyes began to glow. A surge of wind began to gather in the surroundings and rotate all around them.

Dozens of tornadoes began to descend from high above as Garn watched on with caution. He was watching and waiting for another opportunity and with the wind Beast concentrating, it seemed a chance had arrived.

Garn pointed his staff at the wind Beast.

“Fire Ball!”

Dozens upon dozens of boulder-sized fireballs formed in front of Garn and launched themselves forth like cannonballs. The fire Beast though would not sit idly by and allow his undefended brother to be attacked.

With shots of his own, he precisely shot each of Garn’s fireballs out of the sky and as each one collided with the other, resounding explosions rang out continuously.

*Boom Boom Ka-Boom Boom Boom*

Every time these explosions occurred the sky would light up and tremble violently. All creatures whether they be big or small, if they were alive they fled for their lives as fast as possible. The birds, though, were the most unfortunate. As thousands took to the skies, they found that no matter how hard they flapped their wings the air brought them no lift and they all crashed violently into the ground. Those that didn’t have broken necks and didn’t die instantly from the impact instead had severely broken bones and could no longer fly or move very well at all. Even if Garn and the Sky Beast suddenly ceased their fighting and left, for these thousands of birds, they could no longer survive in the wild.

As Garn and the fire Beast continued to fight, the surrounding air picked up speed and moved faster and faster. More and more tornadoes descended and soon there were tornadoes encircling them. Like a dome of air, these tornadoes formed a barrier of wind around all three, cutting off any and all escape. The wind Beast regained focus and laughed at Garn.

“Kukuku, you can no longer escape from us, you’re finished. You’re trapped in here with us.”

Garn wondered what their plan was but it turned out to be this. Garn’s eyes glowed with a terrible power and he laughed dangerously at the two.

“Hahaha, you two are mistaken. It is not I who is trapped with you but instead you who are trapped in here with me.”

Garn pointed his staff at the two and roared.

“Lightning!”

Hundreds of lightning bolts descended in rapid succession towards the two Sky Beasts. If the wind was meant to be a cage then Garn’s lightning bolts were a cage within a cage. These numerous lightning strikes were only about a hundredth as strong as the fully focused lightning bolt he summoned and therefore did a lot less damage. The reason being is because Garn’s power was separated hundreds of times. His first lightning bolt had a lot of his power while these divided his power continuously.

The Sky Beasts were shocked by this but had no time to think about it. The fire Beast threw up multiple walls of fire surrounding himself in protective layers, while his brother could only dodge as he repeatedly fired wind blades to intercept the lightning. However, the wind Beast’s attacks could not destroy the lightning, like his brother’s fire attacks could, instead his wind could only slightly displace them. This allowed the wind Beast to barely dodge several strikes.

The fire Beast slapped one of its walls and the entire wall of flame flew toward Garn. Garn countered and launched several bolts of lightning in return. With the wind moving at such incredible speeds around them both of their attacks were affected and flew off course by a great margin.

(As long as he has those walls of flames around him, my attacks will not penetrate it from this distance. But if I get close then not only can his wall of flame break my barrier but his scorpion tail can as well. As long as I continue these lightning strikes I can keep the wind Beast at bay. Should I get in close?)

Alice and the others were flying away at high speeds inside the barrier. Finally after several miles of distance was covered, the barrier began to slow down and wobble until.

*Bang*

The barrier exploded and the 7 fell a short distance to the ground. For some reason, everyone but Danny managed to land on their feet. Kimi though was the exception as she had grabbed Sam and he instinctively held her like one would a princess.

Kimi blushed slightly as Sam put her down.

“Th…Thank you, Sam.”

Sam merely gave her a nod.

Alice though was still a bit of a mess. As she looked back behind her the sky suddenly went bright white and everyone had to shield their eyes. Not even a moment later did the light fade that a loud explosion followed after.

*Boom*

Everyone looked in that direction with worry, however right after the first explosion was another and another and another. The explosions rang out continuously and small shockwaves began to hit them. The distance was far enough that the shockwaves only caused a small reverberation in their chest but still, they couldn’t but help look in that direction with awe.

Alice squeezed her fist hard digging her nails into her hand, causing a small amount of blood to drip.

“Master, please be OK.”

Asuna walked over to her and gently asked.

“Alice, are you OK?”

Alice wiped the tears from her face as she thought about her Master’s words.

(Master, believe in me, I will get them out of here and take them someplace safe, then I’ll rush to you as quickly as possible.)

Returning back to her cold demeanor she faced the others.

“I’m fine, now let’s move. There is no time to waste.”

Alice and the others turned and rushed away at their top speed, disappearing into the swamp. Only a few moments later though a wolf-like nose sniffed the air.

*Sniff Sniff*

“Hmm, it seems I am catching up with them.”
