The power within Garn circulated through his body rapidly. The crystal embedded within his staff took on a dark green hue before he slammed it down into the ground.

“Have you truly forgotten who I am?”

*Boom Boom Crack Boom*

Pillar after pillar of stone tore up through the ground until each one reached nearly 100 feet high. Each pillar was thicker than a barrel and surrounded the outside of the throne room 360 degrees. A cage of stone trapped the King as well as the last of the remaining soldiers and Mages.

Everyone within panicked at the sight and they began hacking with their blades or firing spell after spell at the pillars around them. Garn though would not allow any to escape. Once more he tapped the ground with his staff and the stone pillars that had started to chip or crack from the attacks within the room, started to rapidly regenerate. Not only that, Garn extended a finger covered in a small amount of lightning and he quickly carved an inscription upon the pillar in front of him and with a wave of his staff, the inscription copied itself onto the next pillar and the next, on and on.

The pillars began to harden and only a few seconds later the outer layer of the pillar started to take on a metallic sheen as the pillar began to transform from stone to metal.

At this point, even the King’s expression worsened. With a counter-attack, he concentrated a golden beam of light at a single pillar. The pillar began to glow red as the temperature climbed and bits of the pillar began to melt away. However, with the pillar regenerating at a rapid speed, everything that had melted away was quickly replaced with a fresh regrown portion of metal.

Garn shook his head.

“It’s too late.”

Extending both hands, the pillars slowly started to move and rotate around the throne room. The ground beneath the throne room, piece by piece was shaved away but instead of the throne room collapsing into a few floors down below, the pillars continued to hold the room up, supporting it entirely.

The King didn’t know what Garn was trying to do but he knew it couldn’t be anything good. With a stamp of his scepter, the inscriptions upon the floor lit up. The few remaining Mages that stood nearby suddenly felt the power within their bodies being drained away at a frightening speed. A few of them collapsed and some even looked back at their King in dismay.

“My King!?”

King David though ignored the increasingly weakened Mages and continued to drain away at them. This, in turn, caused his golden beam of light to enhance several folds and the pillar started to melt faster then it regenerated, causing a fiendish smile to replace King David’s worry.

Garn saw the decay in one of his pillars and snorted coldly.

*Hmph*

With a raise of his hands, the surrounding pillars squeezed together tightly and slowly but steadily the pillars started to lift into the air.

The ground trembled violently and anyone who stood within the throne room found it hard to maintain their balance and toppled to the ground. King David paid it no heed and continued to siphon the mage’s energy until they were entirely drained. At that time Mana sickness hit them all at once. Their bodies spasmed uncontrollably and their bodies poured with cold sweat. The pain inside their bodies, caused them to wish for release and that’s exactly what happened. King David continued to siphon power from them until their bodies could take no more and they all died in agony.

The soldiers witnessing this were beyond terrified and launched themselves at the pillars one by one. With their strength, it would be relatively easy for them to climb up a few pillars and so they did.

King David’s concentrated beam of light began to fade in power and so he took out several bottles of mana potions from his ring and began gulping them down in a frenzy.

“Hahaha, with these I have more than enough reserve power.”

King David was so immersed, that he didn’t even recognize nor see the terrible situation he was really in.

As the first soldier made it to the top, the sight before him sent a chill down his spine. Looking down, he knew what was about to happen. His eyes filled with pity and tears streamed down his face as he begged for his life.

“Master Garn please, please spare me. I have a wife, please.”

Several other soldiers made it to the top of the pillars and looked down. Once they saw what lay beneath, they too burst into tears and begged for their life but Garn no longer cared. They had their chance to leave long ago and they refused. To Garn, this meant that their lives were already forfeit.

Even now, King David was unaware of what was about to happen. He focused solely at melting away a single pillar such that there was nothing else in his eyes. From somewhere far away though he suddenly heard Garn’s shout.

“Goodbye David.”

King David suddenly realized that Garn was nowhere to be found. Looking all around, the moon filled a good portion of his vision. For some odd reason, it appeared a few times bigger but King David shook that thought away.

Finally, he spotted Garn floating several hundred feet away. Seeing the calm look upon Garn, King David was confused.

“You, what do you mean by tha…”

Before the words had left his mouth, King David without warning felt an intense pressure come from the bottom of his gut and a weird tingling sensation filled his body. That feeling was familiar to him but he couldn’t recall its origin. Something flashed within his mind and out of nowhere, he was reminded of a time when he had first learned to ride a horse as a small boy. He had gotten the hang of it pretty early on but a bee flew in front of the horse frightening it. The horse bucked wildly and David remembered being thrown to the ground. The feeling he got now was exactly the same as when he was tossed by a horse.

It was only now that David saw Garn and the moon getting further and further away but it actually wasn’t the two that were moving further away but instead him. At that moment a small thought popped up into King David’s mind.

(I’m…I’m falling.)

*BANG!*

The entire throne room and the large heavy pillars all crashed into the ground together, causing it to cave in, creating a crater that stretched out in every direction for several hundred feet. A plume of dust was thrown to the sky and the world seemed to grow quiet. Garn waved his staff and fat drops of rain fell down dispersing the dust.

Garn hovered in the air and looked at the scene below.

The throne room had been shattered. Every inscription was broken and fragmented on the pebbles and rocks left behind. A few hundred bodies littered the area or rather what was left of them. Garn had lifted the entire throne room with his pillars several hundreds of feet into the air. The impact when they crashed into the ground only left splats of blood and meat paste. Even some of the armor that the soldiers wore was scrunched up like pieces of folding paper.

However, with all of this death and debris spread all over one thing caught Garn’s attention.

Sighing in disappointment, Garn walked over toward the throne itself. With the throne room’s inscriptions destroyed, his power would no longer be affected and he would no longer be suppressed or weakened.

*Haaaa*

“To think you actually survived. Just how many safety measures did you place in that throne of yours?”

*Cough cough hack cough*

Garn extended his staff and gently knocked on a small barrier in front of him. The throne itself had many inscriptions imbued within it but only now did Garn recognize their true potential. A barrier that just barely covered the entire throne emitted a soft glow. It had completely survived undamaged and lying inside of it was King David.

King David though was in a sorry state. His eyes, ears, mouth and nose leaked with lines of red. King David had survived the impact thanks to the throne’s inscriptions but his body had suffered greatly. By the looks of it, he would die if he didn’t receive help soon.

King David continued to cough and hacked up a mouthful of blood but the hate within his eyes never left for even a moment. His breath was unsteady and his chest only made small movements. Garn could tell he didn’t have much time. Still, while struggling with every word he voiced his complaint.

“How can this be? I am King, me, not you. This is my country, everything in it is mine, not yours but mine. Do you think you can kill me? Do you think my people will allow you to get away with this?”

Garn could listen to this fool no more. Grabbing the barrier with a single hand, Garn gripped it tightly.

*Bang*

The barrier popped with ease and disappeared. King David somehow managed to make it to his feet and stared daggers at Garn. Garn though no longer found a threat in such eyes and spoke coldly.

“If you have any words you wish to speak to me, this is your last chance.”

King David stared at Garn with an expression full of pain and sorrow. His eyes began to water before streams of tears poured down his face. King David collapsed onto his knees and hugged Garn’s legs.

“I…I…I’m sorry. Please forgive me, brother, I was just so alone. I’ve always been alone and no one knew what it was like and since I was King, there was no one I could tell these things too. I just wanted to be strong. I just wanted to be truly loved and admired but no one saw, no one ever recognized me as a person. They only ever saw you standing tall in front of me, protecting me from everything. I wanted to be…I wanted to be great like you but I…I couldn’t. Please brother, spare me.”

Garn’s extended his hand, frightening King David causing him to shake. He shut his eyes tightly waiting for death but he suddenly felt a weight on his shoulder. Opening his eyes, Garn’s hand was there. Looking up at Garn, he could see tears forming at the edge of his older brother’s eyes.

Garn spoke softly.

“David, I have heard your words. Goodbye.”

Garn raised his staff over King David’s head and unleashed his power upon him.
