Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 104
Danny mentioned the closure of the Realm. He told Kazuki to give up his revenge and bury it in the past. To be present in the here and now and be with the ones he cares about. To look to a future with those he loved instead of one with those he hated. He asked Kazuki not just as a friend but as a brother. The two had been through far too much and Danny saw Kazuki walking the wrong path. If Kazuki continued to look for revenge, Danny could only see him regretting everything until his final breath.
“Will you close the Realm? Will, you finally close the wounds of your past, or will continue to seek hatred and rage? Something that will benefit no one or something that will bring happiness and peace. What will you do?”
Kazuki didn’t want to hear this, not from Danny, not from anyone. Lin had already tried to convince him and Kazuki thought he could change but even now his blood boiled just thinking about Sephra and Orberus.
“You can’t ask me to just let it all go…I…I refuse. This is something that I will not let go of until it’s finished once and for all.”
“Kazuki, we are talking about Gods. You cannot win. You’re already having a problem with your soul. Have you already forgotten Lin’s words? One of the most important things to reach the Demigod stage is the soul. Your soul is indeed quite powerful but it is nowhere near Alutra’s or Lin’s. How can you even dream of reaching the Demigod stage let alone becoming a God when your already having problems with your soul now?”
“You think I don’t already know that. I will simply find a solution to my problem. Once the problem of my soul is fixed, it’s only natural that I’ll be able to continue further and further. Right now nothing else matters.”
Danny was disappointed.
“You think it will be so easy. Kazuki, I’ve known you for a while now and you are not the type to not have answers. Every time there was a problem, did you not think your way through it. You based your thoughts off of logic and used the facts laid out before you. Because of this way of thinking, you’ve managed to overcome one obstacle after another. Let me ask you though, what you’re doing right now, are you thinking logically? Are you looking at the facts right in front of your eyes or are you turning a blind eye because these facts do not support what you want?”
Kazuki felt anger rising up.
“I am ignoring notihng. I know there’s a problem with my soul. You are the one who wishes to prematurely close the Realm. In time, I will find a solution and once I reach the Demigod stage I will ascend to the Higher Realm and then eventually become a God and take my revenge. All I need is time.”
Danny shook his head.
“You are not thinking clearly. Your obsession is clouding your judgment. did you not already agree with Orberus to never return to the Higher Realm. Let’s put that point aside for now though and think about what we know of the Higher Realm Orberus and Sephra are in. Orberus controls a third of a small star path which we know as a galaxy. Just taking that into account he has 10’s of thousands of Gods along with millions of Demigods under his command. He has countless worlds in the palm of his hand. Do you think you can slip past his eyes and ears? Not just him but your actual enemy Sephra, her family holds another third of that star path. Do you think they will simply let you walk the open stars with nothing to say about it? this alone is thousands of Gods and millions of Demigods who are potential enemies. What about the last third of that star path? You don’t know anything of it. What about the rest of the Realm itself. Is it not infinitely bigger than a Lower Realm and there are actually three of these so-called Higher Realms in total. Your understanding of these places has just barely scratched the surface. You will face armies, and countless enemies all far stronger than you and I. The many mysteries of these places alone could fill an entire Realm and you would still not know all there is to know.”
Kazuki’s anger continued to rise.
“You think I don’t know this?”
“No, I know you know all of this but in the depths of your anger, in the river of revenge, you are not looking at the bigger picture, you are not seeing everything at once. You’re thinking about handling one thing at a time as it comes but what if it all comes down upon you all at once. A wave of danger containing the force of Gods and Realms, Divine Energy, Soul weapons, and whatever insane fucking thing you can’t even possibly imagine. You are lost and you don’t even realize it or rather you realize but refuse to acknowledge it. Even if you become a Demigod, even if you somehow become a God, what you will face will be endless. The enemies you will create along the way just to reach your goal will expand and reach a number you cannot contend with. Not in this life, not in a billion nor a trillion others. DO NOT EVEN TRY!”
Kazuki’s anger reached a boiling point and he shouted at Danny.
“SILENCE!”
His voice contained some power and it blew Danny away sending him hurling and tumbling into the depths of space.
After several thousand miles Danny managed to stabilize himself but not without injury. He coughed up a mouthful of blood and felt his soul-shaking. After a second though his body completely recovered but he felt shocked.
Not just him but Kazuki as well was shocked by what he had just done and quickly arrived next to Danny and tried to help him but Danny shook him off.

Kazuki had once again let his anger take control of him.
(I…Danny, I didn’t mean to…I’m sorry.)
Danny wiped the blood from his mouth and chin.
(Look at what you’ve done. Look and see what your anger and obsession have driven you to. You are so obsessed with revenge that you would even harm me. Do you really see me as a brother or was all of that bullshit. Would you have done something similar to Kai.)
Kazuki’s eyes widened.
(Danny…)
Danny shook his head.
(When you can not be critiqued by those you consider family or friends without resorting to violence. When you must silence those around you and not listen to reason or logic, at that point, you have truly become lost.)
(Danny. I shouldn’t have done that. Something inside is wrong. It’s like the stronger I’ve become, the more the power takes control of me. I…)
(Is that an excuse, really? You of all people can’t control your anger. Are you not simply hiding behind such emotions and blaming it all on anger? Forget it, that’s not important. This pain doesn’t matter. I know what I am to you which is why I will not bite my tongue. Even if you strike me a million times over, I will always be honest with you and say what needs to be said. Even if I have to bring up Kai or anyone else. If it’s to get you to see reason, I will do it all for your own sake because that’s what brothers do.)
Kazuki tried to apologize again but Danny stopped him.
(No more apologies. When it comes to this topic, you are highly emotional. You obviously need to think things through and I mean really think. Put those feelings aside and go beyond just yourself. Think about Nunully and Asuna. How would they feel if you were to just leave them? Do you honestly believe they would stay behind or would they follow you? A place even Dragons have a difficult time living in, how do you think those two would fair? How would your uncle react? The man lost his wife to jealousy, his daughter to insanity and death, his older brother, and also Kai. Finally, he reunites with his only remaining son, and there’s a chance for peace. How would he feel if you overturn all of it?”
Danny finally stopped here and held out his fist. The two fist-bumped before Danny said.
(Nothing else will progress from here if I continue. Just think of what I said. Be the Kazuki who looks at the truth and be the brother I know you are.)
With these last words, Danny flew away, leaving Kazuki in the depths of space to think.
Kazuki looked at his fist and for a moment he felt disgusted.
(I can’t believe I did that to Danny. To harm him just because he spoke truths.)
The fact that Kazuki knew some of what Danny said was true only hit harder. Kazuki without looking back began to fly into space as he thought about what Danny said.
