Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 123
Kazuki had just dropped a bombshell and all was silent for a good minute before a large uproar rang out. No one questioned whether this was true or not. Kazuki had said it so it was so. They knew he would never play when it came to returning to Earth. Because of this, laughs and cheers rose to unprecedented heights but not all were so joyous.
Tsura looked to Danny, a sad smile on her face. Danny though quickly reassured her. Grabbing her hand he shook his head.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
Tsura smiled gently and squeezed his hand back.
Kimi sobbed softly at first and then began to ugly cry as if she were a toddler that just had her ice cream fall to the ground.
“Home, I can finally go back home.”
Asuna and Sam were beyond excited and were talking about what they would do once they returned.
“I can play games again. It’s only been a few years but the last console was nearing its life cycle. I bet there’s a new console out already.”
What he once thought would be lost forever was now flipped on its head. Sam was an avid gamer and had put thoughts of ever playing a videogame again out of his head but now there was a chance. Sam who was not one to really how much emotion was smiling like a kid. He tried to comfort a crying Kimi but he just couldn’t suppress his happiness at this point.
“Mom and dad, my little sister, I can see them again. Heh, they must have been worried all this time, I can tell them everything. I’ll be able to see them, hold them. Should I bring them a souvenir, but what should I take them. My sister should have just started middle school and and
Asuna’s words paused as she noticed Kazuki had gone quiet.
Kazuki felt a bitterness but he wouldn’t mention a word of it. This was a nice moment and he didn’t wish to ruin the atmosphere with his selfish desires.
(Of course, she wants to return. Earth is her home and I’m…)
Kazuki didn’t know what he himself was thinking and tried his best to be happy for her.
“Kazuki…What’s wrong?”
Nunully pulled gingerly on Kazuki’s sleeve.
Kazuki though just shook his head.
“Nothing. I’m just glad they’re happy.”
Mei though was anything but. She didn’t know a lot but she understood what returning home meant. It meant she wouldn’t get to see them anymore. Immediately a flood of tears streamed down her face and she almost tackled Asuna as she hugged her and begged her not to leave.
“Bog sis wants to leave me! Please don’t go! Please don’t go away from me!”
Asuna didn’t know what to say as she stroked Mei’s back.
“Hmph, fuck Earth!”
Shin, to everyone’s surprise, was actually pissed.
“What! why is everyone staring at me like that? Earth is no place for someone with no one. Fuck that place. I’m never going back there.”
Kimi was about to chew Shin out for ruining the good mood but Sam quickly stopped her. A few of them recalled Shin’s circumstances. He had lost family to murder and the one who committed it was in fact a relative. Shin was alone back on Earth. Fake friends, fake condolences, fake care, fake smiles. Shin never wanted to step back in that world ever again.
“You don’t have no one so stop acting like a baby.”
*Whack*
Triska slapped Shin hard on the back.
Shin turned, ready to snap at her but before he could Triska pulled him into a hug and caressed the back of his head.
“Am I no one to you Shin? Are you not surrounded by real friends that would never abandon you? I was mildly curious about such a place that could produce so many heroes but if you don’t wish to return, I’m happy being by your side always. Here or anywhere else.”
Shin could see Sam out of the corner of his eye giving him a thumbs up while Kimi stuck out her tongue at him.
Shin quickly separated from Triska a slight tinge of red no his face.
“Erm, I get it already. Sam and the others came here as well. They are at least not fake.”
Asuna smirked hearing this.
“Oh, is little Shin admitting he’s wrong, how rare. Has the sun fallen are the cows going to fly now?”
“I never said I was wrong. There are plenty of fake people back on Earth. The real ones are here so technically what I said is true.”
Asuna rolled her eyes.
“Just admit it already. Besides that, are you really saying there’s nothing on Earth to return for? Sam has his video games, and Kimi is ready to shop til she drops. Danny, you are probably into building some Gundam models or something along those lines right, and I want to see my family and spend time with them like we used to.”
Danny sighed inwardly.
“It’s Full Metal Panic actually.”
Asuna ignored Danny and pointed at Shin.
“Come on be serious for once and admit it, you probably are into maid waifu anime or something.”
Shin felt offended.
“What, that low tier. I don’t care about maids or robots, magic is where it’s at. Harry Potter or go home!”
Asuna crossed her arms as if she declared victory.
“You see, there is something back home you miss. Turns out you were a pothead. Kind of strange though don’t you think. Why would you still like harry potter when you yourself can use magic and at such a level as well. That harry potter stuff is for children.”
Shin was pissed but before he went in on Asuna, it was Kimi who snapped.
“Asuna don’t talk trash about Harry Potter. That magic and our magic are completely different. It’s so mysterious and the world is enchanting and Hermione is a Queen. There are millions of fans all around the world who are adults. As a matter of fact, most of the fans are adults seeing how the books have been out for a while now. Say whatever you want about Shin but don’t speak badly about potheads and our fandom. It is more than just for children.”
Shin ignored the make fun of Shin all you want part, and he and Kimi nodded at one another as they were comrades in arms when it came to Harry Potter.
Asuna though just chuckled and so to did everyone else. Even Mei who was crying like a fountain was cheered up by this.
Kazuki though was still feeling down when Arc mentioned.
“There is still a problem that needs to be mentioned. The fact is, I will require an enormous amount of Origin energy. Right now my powers are a fraction of what they used to be. At the rate Kazuki can move and help me attain the power needed to track the Realm that contains the planet called Earth, it will most likely take a year, possibly sooner or later depending on a few factors. Not only that, Kazuki’s deal comes first. Oh, and I am only helping you all because Kazuki wishes it to be so. Just thought that should be mentioned now before you all start demanding things.”
Arc made assumptions. It believed that Kazuki wanted some of them to return if not, he would not have mentioned that Arc was capable of such an ability in the first place.
Kazuki though was annoyed. He knew how selfish he really was. A part of him really did wish for them to be able to return home but another part told them about Arc’s ability because if he didn’t and that started asking questions about how Arc would track his granny master, it could come out that he lied or rather lied by omission. He had lost their trust once before and it had devastated their group. That was not something he could risk again.
He couldn’t lie to Asuna or Nunully like that.
If he lost their trust, that would break him. The fact that he realized that he even felt that way, showed him how much he really cared for them. If he didn’t, he would have lied his ass off.
Asuna nodded.
“Right, so in a year we can return home. I guess afterward, it would take a year in order for us that wish to come back to return.”
Kazuki’s ears perked up.
“You are going to return?”
Asuna stared at Kazuki as if he were stupid.
“We are going to return. Do you honestly think I would leave and just be gone for a year without you? You Nunully, Lamia if she wants and anyone else here, we can all go to Earth and Arc can reenergize or whatever over there and we can return later. I have to at least show you to mom and dad. They need to know who their daughter is dat…dating.”
Asuna’s words kind of stumbled near the end when she mentioned dating but she never once looked away and had a serious expression the whole time. She was not going to leave Kazuki’s side, even if someone tried to forcibly drag her away.
Mei looked over at Tsura with puppy-like eyes.
“Mama, can we go to Earth too?”
Tsura gave Danny a look and he simply shrugged.
“I wouldn’t mind showing you around and I’m sure Mei would love some amusement parks.”
“I Have been curious to see where you grew up at. I want to know more things about you. I guess it’s fine, we can go.”
Mei began to leap from the ground to space rapidly in excitement. Little Kosaru thought it was a new game and decided to join her.
Alutra smiled before hooking her arm around Detra and declaring.
“We are coming as well.”
Detra’s face was slightly red but she didn’t say no.
Lin placed a hand on Kazuki’s shoulder.
“I would also like to go to the gravesite and pay my respects to the one you call granny master. She not only saved your life but she also taught you many things, things that helped you in your time of need. I owe her a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. So if you don’t mind son, let me tag along as well.”
Kazuki was almost overwhelmed by this and could only nod silently.
