Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 125
Kazuki, Trilia, and Nevius all sat down at the table and drank their tea. Trilia stared at Kazuki as if to peer through him.
“Um, what is it?”
Trilia shook her head.
“I was just wondering what type of person you really are. As my husband put it, you were seemingly on the edge of two paths, one vile and one much less. From the looks of it though it seems you’ve had a change of some sort.”
Trilia shut her eyes before placing a hand on Kazuki’s chest and nodding along. Nevius became nervous.
“Honey please don’t bother Kazuki with such
“SHH!”
Trilia cut him off as she inspected Kazuki’s soul before she could dive in so to speak Kazuki’s aura rose rapidly and blocked her. This domineering force from Kazuki would be enough to make anyone lesser than he falls apart mentally but Trilia just furrowed her brows.
“Kazuki why are you blocking me. I just want to take a look inside that’s all.”
Trilia tried using more force and Kazuki on reflex grabbed her hand and lifted her off the ground.
Nevius immediately fell to his knees.
“Kazuki please forgive my wife’s behavior, she’s always been the bold one of the two of us. She means no ill will I swear!”
Trilia opened her eyes and chuckled.
“Interesting, Kazuki your path has become more clear. That or my husband was premature.”
Kazuki looked this woman in her eyes and she looked right back. There was not a hint of fear but instead lots of curiosity and interest.
“So you have the same soul-sensing ability as Nevius. Unlike him, though you are brave, maybe too brave for your own good. A less patient man would have already destroyed you.”
Trilia nodded.
“But you’re not going to because that would be bad for you. If I’m no more, my husband will definitely no longer help you fix your soul. Not only that, I’ve already felt your soul to some extent. You aren’t the type to just kill for no real reason. Though you disliked me intruding upon you, that’s no reason for you to actually murder me, now is it?”
Kazuki glared at Trilia before glancing over at Nevius who was still kneeling and pleading.
Kazuki smiled deviously.
“Maybe but I could certainly teach you a lesson. How about this.”
Kazuki’s aura combined with one of his sword forms and he shot his ara forward right at Trilia. In an instant, his aura pierced into her soul world and completely surrounded her soul tree before pushing in on it from every conceivable angle. The pressure of his aura caused excruciating pain and with a thought, he could destroy her soul in an instant.
For a split second, Trilia felt the fear of death and felt her inevitable doom upon her. A panic set in and all of a sudden her memories flashed before her eyes as if she was really about to die. Just before she could let out a terrified scream, Kazuki’s aura retreated as if it had never been and he tossed her toward Nevius.
Nevius stumbled but he still managed to catch her.
Trilia’s complexion was as pale as a ghost and cold sweat poured from her face.
Nevius was quite upset but he knew he could say nothing as this was his wife’s own doing.
Kazuki casually sipped at his tea before placing his cup back down with a small.
*Clank*
“That was just a small taste for those who like to peek without permission. You may be able to sense my soul but that does not mean you know shit about me. I do not know you, you are a stranger. Trying to go to the most intimate part of a person, are you fucked in the head or something?”
Trilia’s suddenly jumped up to her feet, and she began to laugh.
*Heheheha*
“After so many years, to feel something once again, incredible.”
Trilia dusted herself off and returned to the table and crossed her hands and fingers overtop one another.
“True, I did do something I shouldn’t have. As you are well aware Kazuki, I have not socialized in several thousand years, my etiquette when it comes to interactions is…off. At the same time though I wasn’t necessarily wrong. ts as you say another man would most likely have killed me for doing what I did but you gave me a thrilling warning.”
Kazuki looked this woman up and down as though she were crazy. Now he realized something, maybe she in fact was a little crazy, why else would she tempt fate like that.
“Nevius, is this really your wife? Don’t tell me Arc messed up and got a witch’s soul or something like that.”
“Kazuki, your accusations are rather insulting. There is no way I could possibly make such a mistake when tracking the souls of the mother and daughter. Please watch what you say about me.”
Arc was obviously annoyed by Kazuki’s statement, but Kazuki still felt Trilia was off.
“A witch, do those even exist, hmm, maybe I am a witch at this point, hehe, who knows.”
Nevius shook his head hearing his wife’s statement. He came over, sat down next to her, and held her hand.
“Kazuki please don’t call my wife a witch, there is no such thing. There is an explanation for this behavior, I promise.”
“Hehe, dear, you look worried, don’t be, I am fine. Yes, I’m a little odd, I’ll admit but there’s nothing wrong with me, I simply need to get used to things.”
Kazuki looked at her and she looked back at him before she started to smile and laugh joyfully.
*Hehehe*
Nevius smiled as well.
“My wife was bold and a bit eccentric before but being with Nara out there all by themselves moving from Realm to Realm, her personality has turned a bit. You see, as you noticed my wife also has the same soul-sensing ability as I do because she is also part druid. In her case though, her abilities are stronger than mine. Moving to and fro here and there, her power to sense souls did not wain in the slightest. She came across many souls on her journey and felt many. The experience was overwhelming, to say the least. On top of that, my daughter’s abilities were just awakening before her death so when she did die, her power came in and out. In order to shield my daughter from experiencing what my wife did, my wife used her powers to block out these other souls from interfering with her.”
Kazuki now understood.
“Her soul was affected by these other souls’ thoughts, experiences, and emotions.”
Nevius nodded.
“One or two now and again and things would still be fine but she was put there for thousands of years. That’s a mass of souls I can barely even begin to fathom and she had to deal with all of them whilst also protecting my daughter.”
Trilia nudged Nevius in the ribs with her elbow.
“Ok we get it I’m a little strange, no need to speak as if I’m not in the same room that’s rude you know.”
“Can you really say that after trying to dig into my soul a moment ago?”
Trilia tilted her head quizically before chuckling.
“Hehe, I suppose your right. Oh well, what’s done is done, right?”
Kazuki could see that Trilia was a bit much and moved on from there.
“So if Nara was unaffected, why did she run off like that earlier?”
Nevius went quiet and Kazuki wondered if it was now he who was asking things he shouldn’t after all it was really none of his business. He was about to change subjects when Trilia started in.
“Kazuki that’s right you can be of some help in this regard. We may be strangers as you say but you and even Arc should have an interesting opinion on this. After all, you are with women nearly 10 years younger than you and Arc has no body.”
Kazuki and Arc both were confused and didn’t know where this was going but Trilia started laying the foundation for them.
“You see, while Nara was unaffected by other souls she still had me and as thousands of years passed by, she did not remain a child mentally. She is actually quite old. She is thousands of years old and her mentality is not that of a child whatsoever so how do you think she would feel when she finally is revived and she is in the body of a small child. Kazuki is with people younger than he but the ladies are adults and have matured, Arc as well has no body so how would you feel if you were suddenly forced into a body and one that you felt was completely wrong for you?”
Kazuki could see where the conflict was but with Nevius’s ability there was an easy fix.
“Ok, if that is a problem why not just make her a new body Nevius? You made their bodies before, just make her a new one and transfer her soul.”
Nevius glanced at his wife nervously before speaking.
“Well, here’s the problem, I know she is more mature but when she died she was only a child. To me, she’s still a child and it just doesn’t make sense for her to grow up so suddenly before my eyes.”
Kazuki now felt this whole situation just became stupid in an instant before he said anything though Arc spoke up.
“How impudent and stupid of you Nevius.”
