Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 126

Arc came off harsh but Arc was not one to care how its words were taken.

Nevius was not one to be ungrateful. Arc had literally helped him more than anyone else in all his life ever had but this was concerning his daughter.

“How am I being stupid. My daughter means the world to me. She just needs some time to adapt to her new body, she will surely come around.”

Arc began to buzz with purple bits of static. It was clearly annoyed with Nevius.

“Nara is no longer a child. Even if you wish it, it can not be. Her mind has matured for thousands of years. Do you really not see the truth. It makes sense, how could you see the truth. I on the other hand know what it is to be trapped in a form that I cannot fully control. To not be able to communicate with the outside world as time flows endlessly. It is worse than a prison, it is worse than torture in many ways. While you were searching for your wife and child, did you ever think about what they must be going through? Unlike other souls, since they are druids, their souls last much longer and they experience things and sense things on a much deeper level than most other beings. You who had your freedom all this while, what do you know of it, what do you understand?”

Kazuki had to agree with Arc. He recalled his time trapped in the abyssal trench. That absolute darkness, that loneliness, and longing just to see another’s face, to hear their voice. Kazuki thought he might go insane on several occasions from hunger and loneliness. If not for Kai and Danny being stuck in his soul world and conversing with him, Kazuki was unsure if he could have kept it all together.

“Nevius, the things Trilia and Nara went through, must have been a miserable existence. Now they finally have a chance, a real chance to have some type of normalcy, to have a fresh start but if Nara has to experience a time in which she feels she is trapped…are you not picking at unhealed wounds? Do you want her to suffer even more? Tell me, the one person that is standing between her and some semblance of a normal and happy life, isn’t that you?”

Nevius swallowed hard as he processed all of this. Trilia as well gave him the side-eye as she continued to smile and chat casually.

“So you are Arc. You are even colder than Kazuki but your bluntness, I like. Honey do you see, both Kazuki and Arc are in agreement with me. Nara is not a child. Even if she isn’t a child mentally anymore, it does not mean you are losing your child. Everyone grows and change tends to follow growth. Nara missed so many things but even though that is regretful, there was nothing anyone could have done to change all of that. We must move on together as a family or won’t we just be separated once more. Maybe not physically separated but you know what I mean Nevi.”

*Haaa*

Nevius heaved a heavy sigh.

“I had been so desperate to reunite with my wife and child that it never crossed my mind that my child would no longer be and instead she has already grown and I missed every second of it. I am a terrible father am I not?”

Trilia pat Nevius’s hand in sympathy before she threw an elbow directly into his rib cage causing him to fall out of his chair.

“Honey, don’t spout such shit, please. You are not a bad father, you are the best father and husband I could have ever picked out. If you say you’re a bad father it means I picked the man to father my child and I am not wrong. Do you understand dear?”

Nevius winced in pain before slowly nodding.

“Right. You…You aren’t wrong. Sorry for not realizing.”

Trilia smiled before jumping onto Nevius’s lap and hugging him.

*Ooof*

“See, you are already thinking much clearer, hehe. By the way, you made new bodies for me and Nara but why didn’t you make yourself a new body. I mean I like the grey but your so so so old now.”

Nevius shook his head.

“At some point, I had a thought. If I could not find and revive you all by the time I died, then it wasn’t meant to be. I would accept my death and find you both in the next life.”

Tears began to fill Trilia’s eyes.

“That’s…That’s so romantic.”

Arc and Kazuki exchanged a look with one another before Arc spoke directly into Kazuki’s mind.

(This woman has been without flesh for far too long, her mind is a loose bag of marbles.)

(Isolation and darkness can dot hat to you. She would be far worse if she didn’t have her child by her side the entire time. Just be glad you didn’t turn out like that.)

Arc seemed to nod at this.

(I am an Artifact, even if it’s another hundred million years, my mind can not be broken by something like time. Origin energy has a conscious flow and it has existed since before the great expansion. If Origin energy can last that long without corruption and degradation, then I who am fueled by it and control it can last much longer.)

(Oh, as I recall, you couldn’t even communicate with me until recently.)

(Hmph, you know this and that are different. My mind was not degraded before, I simply did not have enough energy to waste words on you.)

Kazuki gave in and just nodded along to prevent another argument. Arc though could see Kazuki only partly believed its words and wanted to send a bolt of purple lightning coursing through him but it did not want to lose Kazuki’s trust so it refrained.

A little later, Nara returned and Trilia told her about her father having a change of heart.

Nara started to cry and ran forth with open arms. Nevius smiled and welcomed her but just before she hugged him, she turned and jumped into Kazuki’s chest and held onto him.

“Thank you Kazuki, it was you who convinced father right?”

“Ah, well me and Arc but yes it seems like your father has been convinced.”

Kazuki peeled Nara off as if she were an octopus and scooted her away.

Trilia and Nara laughed this off but Nevius felt devastation and jealousy.

The Artifacts flowing to and fro started to collect high above and a storm started to brew.

*Thud*

A good elbow into his side put a stop to that instantly and Nevius could only rub his side and sigh.

Afterward, it took only a few moments for Nevius to prepare a brand new body for Nara. His skills when it came to alchemy were just as good as Zephris’s if not better in some regards. Kazuki didn’t know if this was skill directly or a deficiency in time. After all, Zephris was trapped for far too long. If he had the same amount of time to further develop his abilities and research, would he not be better than Nevius was currently.

At least these were Kazuki’s thoughts.

Since Nevius could use fresh samples of dna from both himself and Trilia, the body was easy to create. A few Artifacts came down and helped with the process. A small cell developed and split again and again until a fetus formed. With accelerated growth, the fetus became a baby and then a small child, and so on. Another moment and a full-grown adult woman had been created.

Nara who watched the process entirely grew excited and had no embarrassment whatsoever. She felt there was nothing to be shy about. A body was something she craved for, had wished and hoped for for so long. To her, this body was not simply a body but a brand new start.

Nevius’s eyes began to glow and he casually tapped Nara on her chest with a thumb and before then pressed her forehead as well.

Kazuki then felt the presence of a soul but he could not see it. Nevius then touched the new body on the forehead and then the center of the chest. Just like that, it was complete.

*Ba bump ba bump Ba bump*

Nara’s previous body fell over limply and Nevius stored it away. He could not simply throw it away.

Nevius then glanced at the sky and one f the silk-like artifacts flew down to the ground and wrapped around Nara, forming a sleek and beautiful dress.

Nara’s eyes snapped open and she quickly stood up. Her feet, slightly unbalanced due to the new form. Though this did not stop her from jumping around in excitement. She quickly held out a hand and an ice mirror formed in front of her.

Kazuki was once more surprised as Nara, just like her father did not use magic the normal way.

When Nara saw her new adult face, she couldn’t help but caress it whilst giggling. She then turned to her mother who gently held her chin and turned her face left and right before nodding and smiling. The two then hugged one another and began dancing with each other like wild birds.

It was actually funny to witness.

Nara grabbed Kazuki’s arm wanting to have him join in but Kazuki refused. This didn’t upset Nara and she simply moved on and grabbed her father. Her father still was not quite ready to accept this new change but with a threat from Trilia, the man smiled happily and promptly joined the two’s dance.

Kazuki and Arc once more shared a thought.

(Kazuki, I’m not wrong, these people are definitely odd right?)

Kazuki nodded.

(Yep.)
