Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 128
“Downsides, I don’t know what you mean.”
Trilia shook her head playfully. Kazuki though was in no mood for games.
“Stop with the bull shit. The last time a choice was taken from me and my hatred stolen. If there is anything like that then tell me now. Last time I held back because I felt pity for Nevius. If you dare lie then I won’t be holding anything back. Do you understand my meaning?”
Trilia went quiet before smiling once again.
“Of course, I understand what your saying, even a dog would get it with that vicious look in your eye. I get it so put that fire on ice. There are always downsides hidden away when it comes to the soul. For me though, the risks are far lesser than anything you would experience with my dearest husband. Were he to fail, the least damage he could do is fracture more of your soul. The worst and he could potentially extinguish your soul and kill you.”
Kazuki glanced at Nevius and Nevius didn’t deny it.
“That would be the worse possible scenario Kazuki and is something that is highly unlikely to happen. It would take an extremely rare and disastrous event for that to take place. Like if I were attacked and my own soul was threatened at that moment or something else along those lines. This is my world though and it is both hidden from every expert in this Realm and I also have the support of all of the many Artifacts that roam my world. An attack happening here will not happen I can guarantee it. Even if an outside Demigod or even a God would not necessarily be able to see through to my world.”
“You see that Kazuki, your safety in my husband’s world is almost perfect, so no need to be afraid. That’s the worst possible scenario when dealing with my husband’s power. With me working on your soul, the worse possible situation is you suffer a teeny tiny bit of damage. Under attack like my husband suggested, I could still keep your soul intact. After all, I kept myself and my daughter’s soul safe for thousands of years out there in the infinite cosmos and that was when I was merely a soul and nothing more. Now that I have a body again, my powers are fully restored and then some.”
Kazuki felt slightly more comfortable now.
“Anything else that I should know of. Will anything be taken or
Trilia waved Kazuki’s concerns away.
“Nope. From what Nevius told me, the first part of your soul being repaired was a special circumstance. You literally had a piece of your soul ripped away along with your Mage core, it was only natural that to repair it, one needed to fix or neutralize the trauma and scars left behind. That took your hatred away for Sephra. What I need to do has nothing to do with replacing good with bad or removing anything. I need to teach your soul how to nourish itself and repair the parts of you that are broken.”
…
Kazuki stood there in silent thought.
(If I do this, I must commit to it fully.)
“If it is just teaching me something, can you not just share your memories and experiences with me?”
Trilia shook her head.
“If it were that simple, my husband could have done that. No, what I am going to teach you is something you can not just comprehend a single time with your mind. Giving you the memories and experiences will make absolutely no sense and may even confuse you even more. Reading one’s soul, changing it, manipulating it is an ability druids awaken after a certain age. This ability though is not something static but instead is an ever-changing ever-evolving force. It is something one must feel to start to understand it, you must experience it first hand otherwise it will not make sense. Imagine learning a language for the first time and then the word for ball changed again and again. Even if you had the original word for it, that word is now useless. Only the new word is correct and as time flows, even that interpretation will evolve again.”
“Why is it so complicated? Why does it keep changing as you say?”
“As I said, it is an ability that awakens within a druid. Why do you think that is, where do you think it comes from.”
“Are you referring to the soul, is that the source, the origin of this ability?”
Trilia smiled before clapping.
“See your cleverness doesn’t fail. This soul reading, soul sensing ability is birthed from our own souls. Because it comes from our souls, a thing that in itself continually changes, the ability, therefore, changes along with it. As you grow and experience new things, your soul is constantly growing along with you. This ability of ours neer stagnates and always flows. Because of this, if a druid ever loses their ability to read another’s soul, to us, they are considered lost druids. They no longer know themselves, they no longer know their own souls.”
“So are you saying that if I learn this ability, I will know myself, how odd?”
“And why is that odd. To me, those that don’t know their selves are the odd ones. How can you not know who you are? I think this is the reason why so many beings are lost in their everyday lives. They search for a purpose and doubt their own actions, doubt their own existence again and again, and are stuck in a fog of disillusion. I know exactly who I am and what I am. I know my purpose now more than ever and because of that, I know I have returned to not only be with my family but also to help you.”
This struck a chord with Kazuki and for some reason a nerve with Arc.
(Hmph, how pathetic. How can one not know their purpose?)
(Arc are you really saying that when you yourself don’t know who you are or what your purpose is?)
(I’m different. I may not know who I am or my true purpose but my excuse is I am missing a piece of myself. Once it has been found, my past will be revealed and my purpose will naturally unfold before me. I am disconnected from another part, what is everyone else’s excuse.)
Kazuki raised a brow hearing all of this nonsense.
(Your right Arc, you are disconnected.)
Static swirled around Kazuki’s arm and he was about to strike Kazuki with lightning but Kazuki raised his aura and the two had a small standoff.
(Do you dare Arc?)
…
(Do not insult me Kazuki, my anger is not to be
(You insulted others first and then you tell me not to insult you. Don’t start shit and there won’t be shit.)
…
Arc’s electricity retreated back into itself.
(Fair point. I will make sure to take your sensitivity into account the next time I make a statement that might hurt your precious feelings.)
Kazuki sighed before he just let it go otherwise this argument could last forever.
“Trilia, if there is nothing else, no warnings let’s just hurry up and get started already.”
Trilia saw no reason not to start so she called Kazuki over and had him sit down in front of her.
“Nevy dear, prep the circle.”
Nara stood back to watch while Nevius waved his hand in the air. His eyes lit up with radiant light and the ground beneath and around Kazuki and Trilia began to shift and roll, fold and sink, rise and disperse here and there. Soon enough a large inscription circle formed underneath the two and Kazuki was awed.
This was an inscription he had never seen before. It was by far the most complex inscription he had ever seen and he had seen inscriptions in the Higher Realm. These inscriptions linked together like long chains and then before his very eye, unlinked and reformed with other parts of the circle. The inscription circle to his shock was continuously changing. It did not represent just one thing, one element but a myriad of them. Every once and a while he could make out a symbol here and there but it was all jumbled together.
Layers upon layers stacked together created with a multifunctional purpose. This purpose though, Kazuki could not see through.
“This, what type of inscription forms and reforms again and again. How is this considered magic?”
“Kazuki, this is druid magic. Our magic flows continuously as does the universe. Chaotic and uncertain on the surface but deep within there is an unseen path connecting it all. This inscription is for one’s soul. Once you
“Enough already husband! Kazuki, ignore your surroundings and focus only on your soul world. I need you to concentrate while I do the rest.”
Kazuki still had a million questions but he decided now was not the time and he quickly shut his eyes and entered his soul world.
Trilia was already there and without another word she grabbed Kazuki and the two touched his soul tree together.
(For the second fracture I first need to take a look and see what I’m working with. Let’s see how this second fracture came to be.)
