Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 136

As the leaders of the world began to make their move, Kazuki’s party was minding their own business. On the way to Japan, Kimi split from the group and headed to South Korea to see her family. Asuna, Sam, Shin, and Danny were from Japan, and once there, again the group split.

The four went home while Kazuki, Alutra, Detra, and Lin headed to a lone mountain while Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai went to explore the sights of Japan. Before they separated, Kazuki shared his knowledge of Earth with the three Ancient beasts and told them not to get into trouble.

With Kazuki’s knowledge, they immediately wanted to see many things and left in excited states.

Landing at the foot of a wide mountain, a narrow path overgrown with plant life covered the way. Kazuki though did not need a path to know exactly where he was. Taking a single step forward, Kazuki appeared near the top of the mountain in front of a small home. It was a live-in dojo, his granny master’s dojo.

Lin, Alutra, and Detra all appeared behind Kazuki and took the sight in. To them, it was a run-down building. To Kazuki though it was a place filled with memories. With a wave of his hand, it was like time was reversed as Kazuki repaired the old building in an instant.

“Son, this is the place?”

Kazuki nodded.

“Yes. I was saved not just once but twice here. When I first arrived, granny master kicked me awake heh. She thought I was a solicitor or intruder. She took an empty me in that day and when I had nothing else to live for, she showed me a new path.”

Kazuki walked inside and was met with old broken equipment. Wooden swords and training dummies lined the sides of the interior. Near the back, there was an old kitchen a few bedrooms, and an outdoor bath. Behind the place was a small wooden shrine dedicated to the masters that came before his own master.

A few worn tombstones sat unattended.

Kazuki cleaned them off and knelt down in front of one of them.

“Granny master, I’m back.”

The moment he said this, a soft wind gently blew and Kazuki felt something in the depths of his soul. His soul reading ability was sensing power in this wind.

Kazuki looked next to him and there she was.

His granny master stood next to him with her hand on his shoulder.

“GRANNY MASTER!”

The wind rushed forward and slapped Kazuki in the back of the head and his granny master spoke or rather she yelled.

(Damn boy do you have to scream I’m dead, not deaf! Though I suppose even if I say this you won’t be able to hear me.)

Kazuki stood up and he reached forward ad grabbed her hand.

“Granny master, I can hear you and see you. You’re here, you’re actually still here.”

Lin, Alutra, and Detra all wore confused expressions. They had heard a little about Kauzki’s knew ability but they weren’t filled in entirely. The way he spoke, at first they thought he had suddenly gone crazy but Arc quickly told them what was happening.

They were all in awe.

“Arc is what you just said true? Is Kazuki really talking with his master?”

Arc was annoyed.

“What reason would I need to lie old man. If Is ay Kazuki is communicating with the old woman beside him then that is exactly what he’s doing.”

Lin was a little embarrassed. He knew Arc had mysterious abilities and it was true, Arc had no reason to lie and Kazuki had no reason to act this way unless it were true.

Alutra was different from her brother. She walked over to Kazuki and began waving her hands back and forth trying to find this supposed master.

“Kazuki is she here or here. You can really see her but I don’t see or sense anything. How strange hehe.”

Detra quickly ran over and pulled Alutra away in embarrassment.

“Alutra don’t do that it’s disrespectful. This woman helped raise Kazuki up and protected him. You shouldn’t offend her at your very first meeting.”

Alutra just smiled.

“Right right sorry Kazuki’s master.”

While they were making a racket, Kazuki’s master was looking over at them as if they were weirdos.

(So you finally return after all these years and you immediately bring a bunch of foolhards to disturb my peaceful mountain. You have some nerve taking so damn long.)

With a snapping motion, she quickly pulled away from Kazuki’s hand.

Kazuki though could only smile. He had last seen her the day she died but while he was still living on Earth Arc had shown him that she had stuck around him the entire time watching over him. Even if he could not see or touch her at that time, she was always there beside him.

“Granny Master.”

Kazuki knelt down and bowed respectfully.

“Your disciple is late, forgive me master.”

His master smirked before smiling with a big grin.

(You still know how to show respect it seems. Enough with that, stand up and tell me what’s going on, who are all of these strangers, and what are they doing on my mountain without my permission. You’d better have a good reason for coming back so late, otherwise, I won’t forgive my foolish disciple.)

His granny master acted coldly but she couldn’t shake her smile that never once left her face. She was truly happy to see Kazuki. The fact that he had not forgotten her, the fact that he really had returned, even if she had no heart, at this moment she felt an unexplainable warmness in her chest.

Just before Kazuki was about to explain, Lin walked over.

“Kazuki, your master, where is she exactly?”

Kazuki pointed right next to him and before anything else, Lin suddenly dropped to his knees. This time it was he who bowed respectfully.

“You do not know me but I am called Lin Zigoul. I am Kazuki’s adoptive father and his real uncle by blood. It was my responsibility to raise and protect him but I failed and have no excuse. You though, you who protected my boy, and taught him and showed him the way. I can never thank you enough for what you have done. Sacrificing yourself just so that my boy could live another day. I owe you more than anything in this world, more than anything in all of the Realms above and below, I eternally owe you an unpayable debt. Thank you!”

Lin remained in this bowing position even when Kazuki told him it was fine. Only when he felt a gentle breeze that lifted him up did he finally take that as a sign to stand.

Looking at his face, there were tears streaming down his face.

Kazuki’s master soul sighed.

(It seems you had a good but not so capable father. His nature is admirable though. For him to bow to me even though I can feel that he is a powerful existence beyond anything in this world. To have such a father, Kazuki, you are lucky.)

Kazuki nodded.

“The luckiest.”

After that, the wind blew once more and the door to the house opened.

(Since I have guests after this long, I suppose I should invite them in for some tea.)

Kazuki was surprised.

His granny maser was dead but still held some power. He could feel ki all around but his master was somehow still able to sue it without a body.

(Master this power, how can you still use ki without a Dantian, without a body.)

(Hmph, you’re still way too early for that boy. Now be a good little disciple and prepare the guest tea. If this is your father then we should at least treat him properly.)

Kazuki smiled hearing his granny master nagging.

*Whack*

The wind slapped him in the back of the head again.

(Stop smiling like an idiot and prepare the tea. Don’t tell me you lost your common sense after all this time. If not then get a move on already.)

Kazuki still smiled as he rushed inside and prepared tea.

Of course, there were no tea leaves or anything else for preparing for a guest seeing as how this place was abandoned for so long. Kazuki was about to just open his storage ring and pull out some tea leaves he carried with him but it had been years since he had last been on Earth. Why use tea from Gordonia when there was Tea growing right on the side of this mountain.

Kazuki opened a small rift the size of a fist and reached inside.

(Disciple what are you doing?)

(Granny master, I’ve learned a few things while I was gone and this is one of them.)

Kazuki’s senses spread out over the mountain and he instantly found the tea, though it was unnecessary as the tea was growing in the exact same place as it was in the past.

Pulling his hand from the rift, a bunch of tea leaves was brought through and the rift closed. Kazuki waved his hand and a pot came out of his storage ring and a flame erupted underneath it.

His granny master watched on with intrigue.

(Hmm, it seems you have learned a few things here and there. Just like my disciple should. Now hurry up and serve the guest, you have a lot of explaining to do.)

(Yes master.)
