Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 139
“Asuna this vision you showed us, a world of magic and dangers everywhere. Even though you just showed us, it’s still incredibly difficult to believe.”
Asuna understood this. Her mother’s tune was one most would follow after seeing something like magic and a new world. It was something one would find in fantasy stories. It really was hard to believe. It’s not that Asuna’s mother, father, and sister didn’t believe her, it was just so outside the norm it didn’t feel real to them. To solve this issue though was quite simple.
Asuna thought for a moment before taking an apple off of the living room table and with a small toss she threw it up in the air. Before her parents or sister could ask what she was doing, her eyes and ring both flashed and a simple thought crossed her mind.
(Lock)
The falling apple suddenly stopped mid-air and fell no more.
Her parents and sister were both stunned into silence.
“Don’t be too shocked just yet, there’s a lot more I can do.”
The refrigerator door swung open and all of the contents within flew out and floated above their heads. The liquid in the containers spilled out but again nothing fell to the ground. All of it remained in the air a few of the contents began to mix at the same time she flashed the ancient hand symbols with one hand and this mixture heated up as it began to stir.
She was making food without touching anything. After only a few moments the mixture thickened and it was nearly done. All of the other ingredients returned to the fridge and a few bowls and spoons landed in everyone’s hand. The white thickened mixture was then poured into their bowls.
“Lamia, please cool the pudding for me.”
This time it was Lamia whose eyes glowed for a flash of a moment. The bowls in everyone’s hands suddenly cooled and everyone felt it.
The spoons then gently fell into the bowls.
“Eat up.”
Both her parents just looked at her with stunned expressions but her sister was more curious and tried a bite.
Her eyes lit up after a small taste.
*Mhmmmm*
“Asuna, this pudding is delicious. To think you can make it in an instant. If this isn’t magic then I’m blind. You should open a restaurant. Mama, if big sis can make food like this won’t we be rich!?”
Asuna rolled her eyes.
“Dummy you know I can’t make much besides a few sweets here and there. Besides its Tsura and Kazuki who are the cooks.”
Nunully and Lamia as well dug into the pudding and of course loved it. It only took seconds for the two, along with Sun to finish their pudding and begin licking their bowls. They didn’t care how it looked to others and the three began to bond over it.
Asuna’s mother nad father both looked at the pudding and then back at their daughter. Carefully the two took a bite and they recalled all the days their daughter would be in the kitchen making simple treats. Mother and father, the pair held one another as they cried.
“Asuna, it’s sweet.”
Asuna nodded along.
“I haven’t lost my touch and that is all just the tip of the iceberg.”
Asuna began to talk about more of the good times she had. The adventures, the travel. The cities and interesting people she saw and met. The different food and amazing scenery. The fact that she could teleport and have seen other worlds and so on.
Asuna would have used other magic but she and everyone else noticed just how little of magical energy in the world there was. She still had plenty of Cosmic crystals to draw upon if things actually got serious but she had her own storage of magic so she was fine for now. Still, she only used a small amount to demonstrate that magic was real so her parents could see for themselves.
This was so much to take in for them but they believed her 100%. Hearing and seeing some of the memories she showed them, Asuna’s parents were both proud and at the same time sad. The hardships their daughter had to face without her parents, they felt like failures even though there was nothing they could have done. It was just natural for them to feel that way. At the same time, the fact that she came out of all of it and still gave them that warm smile they always knew, immense pride was what came through.
Asuna as well felt bittersweet. She was so happy to have returned home but seeing the wrinkles and gray hairs her parents had picked up hurt. She had only been gone for a few years but her parents looked as if they had aged by more than ten. They were both fairly young. Her father was just now in his mid-forties and her mother was in her early forties. No doubt stress played a massive part in this aging.
(If they weren’t worrying over me, they wouldn’t have suffered this much.)
She could see and sense the condition of her parent’s bodies. Her father put on a brave face but his back was in terrible condition. Her mother as well was dealing with arthritis in her hands and knees and it was worsening day by day.
(It seems he had a back injury at some point but either neglected it or couldn’t afford it. Moter too, she must be in constant pain.)
Asuna noticed a few bills piled up and unpaid notices. Taking a look at her childhood home it was in a weary condition. There was rotten wood and unpatched holes here and there. Even her parent’s clothes and shoes were worn. Her little sisters were in slightly better condition but it was obvious they were much older than they should be.
“Mom, dad, hold still for a second.”
Asuna pulled out two talismans from her storage ring. These were talismans that contained the healing inscription Kazuki had taught the entire world of Gordonia. Asuna was no exception and had learned it as well. She didn’t understand why Kazuki had taught this to her since her natural healing ability could heal the craziest of injuries. Now she realized maybe he didn’t teach it to her for her sake but for the sake of others.
Placing both talismans on her parents, she had to give it a little of her own magic before they activated with a brilliant light. A pulse of warm energy spread in their bodies and they felt a huge relief as their bodies were repaired and healed in an instant. Her father’s hunched shoulders loosened and lowered as he sat up straighter with a surprised expression and her mother opened and closed her hands in wonderment.
“Asuna did you just heal us, you could even do that?”
Asuna nodded.
“This was something Kazuki taught me. You should feel much better now.”
Her father grabbed her mother and lifted her with a low grunt. He stood straight up like a board and he felt no pain whatsoever. Asuna’s mother held his face and the two began laughing almost hysterically as he began to spin with her in his arms.
“Mama, Papa, you’re embarrassing me in front of big sis’s friends. Can’t you two go do that in the other room? Please for my sake.”
The happy couple ignored their youngest daughter and continued spinning until they both got dizzy and fell on top of one another on the couch. They were full of smiles and laughter.
While giggling like school kids, Sun was the only one who seemed to notice something and she scooted closer to Asuna before whispering in her ear.
“Hey hey, big sis. You mentioned a guy called Kazuki multiple times now. From what you showed us, you two seem to be pretty close. Now be honest, is he your boyfriend, because if not, he looks pretty handsome so introduce him to me. I’ve never met someone from another world, maybe I could show him around hehe.”
Asuna’s mother and father suddenly stopped laughing and they both wore serious expressions.
“Yes, now that Sun mentioned it, you did say Kazuki a few times. Who is this young man, and what is he to you. From the memories, he seemed to have saved you a number of times. Don’t tell me he took advantage of you.”
Asuna’s mother started grilling Asuna while her father shot to his feet and entered the kitchen. A moment later he came out of the kitchen with a large knife.
“Asuna I’d like to have a word with this boy. Where is he right now? I would like to meet the man who thinks he can lead my precious daughter astray!”
Asuna was having a difficult time as she tried to explain that Kazuki wasn’t bad but her parents weren’t hearing any of it. She looked to Lamia and Nunully for some help but the two were just laughing. Not only because they found this interaction both cute and wholesome but also because it was hilarious that Asuna’s parents thought they could do anything to Kazuki.
Once they arrived, they all had used their auras to sense anyone near their strength but they could only detect some small fries scattered around the world. Whether it was due to the almost nonexistent magical energy or some other factor, there was no one that could do any of them harm in this world.
