Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 140

While Asuna was having an interesting time with her family, everyone else was having their own reactions. Some good some not so. Danny had returned home and he had brought Tsura, Mei, and Kosaru with him. Well in actuality Kosaru just went with them because Mei was going. He had basically become inseparable from Mei as she was the closest to his age and they played with one another all the time.

Mei loved the fact that there was someone younger than her and decided she was the big sister forthright and Kosaru was the little brother. Kosaru loved this as well since it meant he had someone else who cared about him like Alutra did and Mei even played with him even more and showed him where all the best food was.

Arriving at home, Danny was greeted by a loving mother but when she saw that he was with a grown woman who also had a child, she had a change of heart. She was disturbed by this and would hear no more. Danny’s father on the other hand was more understanding. He had never seen his son so confident and stand so straight before. Though he didn’t understand the relationship, he still excepted his son.

Danny at first wanted to explain what had happened to him after all this time but his mother didn’t care at all. She was disappointed her son had left school to be with some hussy. Her words were harsh and Danny wasn’t having it. After an argument, he left.

Mei was ready to bite Danny’s mom and punch her and Tsura was clearly upset.

“Danny, I’m sorry. Because of my age, your mother turned against you and despises

Danny stopped Tsura and hugged both her and Mei.

“Nonsense. My mother has always been this way and nothing is ever good enough for her. I was foolish to think she had changed. If she can recognize you as the wonderful woman you are for dealing with me, then she is the one who will be missing out. I wish my father would leave that witch but his heart is swayed by her. He could never leave her. I understand that but it still hurts.”

Kosaru wanted to smash Danny’s childhood home but Mei stopped him. Things weren’t all bad though. Danny took the three and showed them around where he grew up. Mei and Kosaru were excited when he brought them to a park and playground. Not only were there objects and fun things to jump and play on but there were also lots of children of all ages playing as well.

Mei and Kosaru didn’t get to play with other kids but now they were dropped in the middle of a bunch of them. Danny and Tsura reminded them not to hurt anyone and to hold back while they played and the two young ones loved this even more. Holding back their powers became like a new game between them and they played with even more excitement.

Shin as well didn’t fare any better. He and Triska had visited his old home but there was nothing there. An empty lot with overgrown grass and weeds. Trash here and there and an old tire buried halfway in the dirt. Shin found a local but this person didn’t even recognize him. He asked what happened there and the old man explained.

“Hmph, those people were depraved and drug addicts. From what I heard they either died or are locked up now. Good riddance, those folks were scum and they deserved a lot worse.”

Shin wasn’t even upset hearing this. This is exactly what he knew all along. Instead, he was glad he saw this. After what he had been through and he made it out on top. He was powerful, he had a beautiful and strong woman by his side and he could do basically anything he wanted.

These were his thoughts but there was something buried beneath. Triska grabbed his hand.

“Are you alright?”

Shin chuckled.

*Heh*

“Of course. I knew there would only be trouble returning here. If I didn’t get teleported to Gordonia, I would have ended up just like them. Heh, fools.”

A few tears ran down Shin’s cheek and he looked away. Triska knew how Shin was. He was someone who tried to hide his pain with laughter. It was obvious he was still hurting from his past. She turned his head toward her and wiped his tears away gently. She was a woman who loved strength and fell in love with Shin because of this as well as his funny nature. She knew though, that him crying right now, was not weakness and she would not make fun of him for it or despise him.

After the things she’s seen and experienced, this side of Shin was simply another part that helped to hold up his strength and she loved that he could still be so strong even now.

“Let’s go somewhere else. You haven’t shown me this movie thing you’ve mentioned again and again. Show me one already.”

Shin smiled.

“Sure, I don’t have any money but it’s almost tradition to sneak into one so we don’t have to worry about that, hehehe.”

While Shin and Danny’s weren’t what one would call a great time, Sam was different. His home was right near Asuna’s home. His father was the only one around. He had no other siblings and his mother had died long ago. Sam walked inside and was immediately greeted with the sound of hammering which came from the backyard.

Walking outside, there he was. Just like Sam, his father was tall and strong. The man hammered away on some project made of wood. The moment he heard his door open he turned and saw his son.

Neither one said a thing. His dad placed the hammer down and wiped his brow of sweat before quietly walking over to his son. The two stood face to face. Sam though was now taller than his own father and bigger as well. His dad sized him up before hugging him and saying only one word.

“Son.”

Sam as well hugged him back and said one thing.

“Dad.”

That was it. That was all the two needed to say to understand that they still loved one another and how difficult things had been while they were apart.

His dad never asked for an explanation, he never demanded a reason, he just held his son after years of being gone. This was all he needed and this was all Sam needed.

Next was Kimi.

Back in South Korea, she descended down toward a mansion. The moment she set foot in the courtyard, alarms rang out and dozens of guards came racing out of hidden spots with guns pointed. A large man came rushing out with a saber at his hip. He shouted at the intruder.

“Which enemy dares to step foot on founder Chul’s land!?”

The very second these words left his mouth he saw who it was and he knelt down in total shock.

“Young miss, it’s, your alive!”

Not just him but all of the other bodyguards saw her face and immediately fell to their knees before shouting respectfully.

“Young Miss Has Returned. Welcome! Young Miss!”

Kimi nodded and felt this was exhausting. If this was the past she would have loved it when these people knelt for her, now though things were different. She was different.

“Get up. I don’t need this!”

The largest guard stayed kneeling and he was confused.

“But Miss, this is only natural.

“Stop, Hurry up and get up I don’t want to repeat myself. And someone go call my parents and grandfather.”

Just before anyone could make a move. Two large doors swing open from the house and a figure stepped forward. Moving like a blurred image this figure appeared before Kimi like a ghost.

As soon as she saw who it was, Kimi jumped at this person and this person as well opened his arms wide and caught her.

“Grandfather!”

The man was surprised as well and shouted.

“Kimi! My precious gem, you were alive! Thank God!”

An old man draped in a traditional robe with a long grey beard held onto Kimi as if she would disappear.

Kimi as well hugged him back. She had missed her mom and dad but also her grandfather very much.

“Grandaughter, what has happened to you? I can feel an unusual strength coming from you. It’s almost as if I’m embracing a dense immovable mountain.”

Kimi didn’t find this weird. Her grandfather was a powerful martial artist and he could sense things like energy but she was surprised he only had a vague sense when it came to her strength. Her grandfather was a master and had over 60 years of cultivation but he could not see the ends of her strength. Kimi on the other hand could sense everything about her grandfather.

All of his strengths, all of his weaknesses. Even when he shot out of the house, to those around, none could keep up with his speed with their naked eye but in Kimi’s vision, he had moved like a snail. Kimi smiled.

“Grandfather, I have a lot to tell you about. Don’t be surprised when you find out how strong I’ve become, hehe.”
