Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 15
Kazuki was about to step through the rift when Mei grabbed his hand.
“Big bro, I’m coming with you…Right?”
Kazuki didn’t see any problem with this. He had kind of forced Bozek to watch and protect Mei while everyone else was off to war. Now that the war was over, he needn’t watch over her anymore.
“Of course you can come.”
Mei smiled sweetly before looking back at Bozek.
“What about grumpy old mister. Can he come with us too?”
Kazuki saw no reason he couldn’t and gave a nod.
Bozek was a little surprised.
“Little imp, or I mean Mei you still haven’t gotten tired of this old man?”
Mei touched her finger to her chin as she was really thinking about it before nodding.
“Only a little tired of ya but old mister would be bored without Mei around and besides if Mei doesn’t cook you anything yummy, you’ll be nothing but skin and bones in no time.”
Bozek felt a little embarrassed hearing this. It’s true, he was not good at making meals. As he watched over little Mei for this short time, it was her who prepared and cooked all of the homemade meals. She had learned a little from Tsura who was an excellent cook. Bozek was one who always had his meals prepared for him and thought nothing of it until Mei called him out. She would laugh and make fun of him for not being able to cook at his age when she, who was nowhere near his age could make her own food like a big girl.
Mei laughed before waving Bozek over.
“Hurry old grumpy before we really leave without ya.”
Bozek smiled softly before following after Kazuki, Mei, and Danny.
Teleporting away, the sky and world changed as they reappeared over a barren desert.
Bozek looked around and his happy mood fell a bit.
“The Patar desert, this place, ugh.”
Last time he was here, Garn had completely betrayed him and even tried to frame him for the burning of a city and the death of innocent people. This desert held nothing but foul memories for him. Mei though looked at him with a bright smile and his mood naturally lifted once again.
Down on the ground, dark energy covered most of the land below them.
A voice called out from this dark power.
“Kazuki, you returned faster than expected. I’m nowhere near done.”
Kazuki lifted a brow.
“So does that mean we can’t get those bodies made today?”
Zephris slowly rose up to meet them.
“Now I didn’t say that. It’s just doing some things in this body of mine is more difficult than I initially anticipated but with you here, the work can easily be
Zephris’s words paused here as he caught a particular scent in the air.
*Sniff Sniff*
Inhaling deeply he disappeared and reappeared right in front of Bozek. Sniffing him up close, Bozek felt a chill run up and down his spine but sense Zephris was on friendly terms with Kazuki, Bozek didn’t make a move.
“Stranger, you are?”
Bozek said this in as neutral a tone as possible.
Zephris smiled creepily at Bozek.
“Ah, how rude of me. I am the greatest alchemist and Kazuki’s savior. I’m called Zephris.”
Kazuki rolled his eyes. Yes, it was Zephris that saved him from the Miasma but seeing as how he was the Miasma or at least a part of it it’s basically like saying he was saved from the person causing the danger.
“You are Kazuki’s underling, no, from the memories I took in, you are barely an acquaintance. Since you are on good terms with Kazuki though It means I can’t just take you without making him angry with me. I don’t mind asking for permission though. You, You’re name is Bozek correct?”
Bozek was a little lost but he nodded along anyway.
“Good, I can smell the blood of the dragon running through your veins. Give me some of, er, do you mind giving me a small sample of your blood.”
“My blood?”
Bozek was already lost but this made his confusion deepen even more.
Kazuki as well wondered.
“For what reason do you need his blood when
“Kazuki Kazuki Kazuki, have you forgotten my past. Before I was what I am now, my flesh was part dragon on my father’s side. This man-beast before us has dragon blood. If I get a tiny bit of it, I can use it as an ingredient to create a new body for myself. Once I have a new body and one that is more similar with the me of the past. It will help things go that much smoother. So Bozek, do you mind.”
Bozek was starting to understand but he was a little hesitant. He looked at Kazuki but Kazuki just shrugged.
“No one will force you but I would consider it a personal favor if you could help us out here.”
Mei looked at Bozek with puppy eyes and Bozek sighed.
(It’s not like I’m losing anything besides a bit of blood. I guess there’s no harm.)
Bozek held out his arm and Zephris’s creepy smile grew. His dark energy wrapped around Bozek and sliced at his arm. A small cut formed and a few drops of blood dripped out. Using his aura, he surrounded the blood, protecting it from the open air and other contaminants.
“Kazuki, I need you to prepare a few things for me.”
Kazuki nodded.
“Name it.”
Zephris began to list off one thing after another. Ores, mana crystals, hundreds of different herbs, and other plants of both common and rare qualities and in different quantities. Kazuki already had a vast knowledge but combined with all the knowledge he gained from Zephris’s memories, he knew exactly what he was talking about. Kazuki’s aura was still spread out over the entire world, so it took him no time to find every ingredient listed. All across the world, Kazuki used his aura to create rifts where he would pull in the ingredients and teleport them directly to his location. Within seconds, hundreds upon hundreds of ingredients began falling out of open rifts around them.
Kazuki waved a hand and organized everything exactly as Zephris would need them. At the same time, he began to make all of the equipment needed there and then. Crafting tables, with magic inscriptions that he carved in an instant with his aura. Other magic tools and apparatus. Zephris removed his energy from the ground and directed Kazuki in building him a lab.
The ground flattened and a building made of metal rose up. The design was based on Zephris’s previous lab but with a little more advanced. The outside looked like a simple box building but inside it was entirely different. Large vats 8 feet tall and 10 feet round stretched along a single wall. Opposite of them was a large table made of magic gold. Going off of Zephris’s direction and instructions, Kazuki carved tens of thousands of inscriptions with perfect detail in said table and placed mana crystals in certain slots inside.
The golden table lit up with bright light before gently fading. Many shelves with special inscriptions lined another wall. These shelves contained tiny drawers no bigger than a foot in every direction. After inscribing them with space magic, they were now storage devices. Kazuki stored all of the ingredients in these drawers and labeled them with the name of each ingredient.
Waving his hand a final time, Kazuki created Orichalcum and with a thought, he shaped it into a large glove. Inscribing once more he then embedded several different crystals in the knuckles of this glove. Each one represents every different element. Once these crystals were placed inside, the glove was done.
Something considered rare and difficult to make, Kazuki in an instant had made a Sozo Glove. Old Sid would have lost his shit seeing this but since he was not here Bozek shouted in his place.
“SOZO! You…You made a Sozo Glove and even created it using god metal instead of magic gold. Something…Something like this was possible!?”
Kazuki nodded.
“God metal will make manipulating and inscribing all the elements that much easier. Though Zephris probably would be fine with a regular Sozo Glove, I want everything to be as near perfect as possible so when he makes Asuna and Nunully’s bodies, everything will run as smoothly as possible. With his memories and experiences inside, I could do it myself but I have never made a body before. Even if I know every single step by heart, I’m just not prepared to do that. I’ll leave it up to the expert.”
Kazuki gave a nod to Zephris and Zephris nodded back confidently.
“I’ve created millions of different bodies. Along the way, there have been many failures but from every failure, every mistake, I learned from it. I pick it down to the bone and tear it apart, analyze it, and repeat the process so I can know exactly where I went wrong. Afterward, I don’t make that mistake ever again. Learning is a process for sure, but throwing countless corpses at the problem helps one get through the bugs at a much quicker rate. Creating my own body will be hundreds of times more difficult than making two human women and even my body is easy compared to more weird oddities I can come up with.”
Kazuki had seen every experiment Zephris had done and he knew Zephris was speaking the truth. The man had gone through too many bodies to count and because of this he could spot the tiniest detail and could fix nearly every problem when it came to a body. Even the body he has now was something he created on the spot once he had full control over his soul. Kazuki was a confident man in nearly every way but when it came to this when it came to his loved ones, he would take no chance and would leave to the one who had actually walked the walk so to speak.
With all the ingredients prepared and the Sozo glove and magic table ready, Zephris didn’t wait around a moment longer.
“Now watch a master at work.”
