Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 21
Seeing and feeling her brand new arm, Kimi couldn’t help but run her other hand across it to see if it was real. She pinched her arm and winced in pain before she began crying harder and smiling at the same time. Sam as well held her arm and felt it all over, accidentally tickling Kimi. Kimi cried and laughed at the same time creating an odd sight.
Sam of course hugged her again and the moment he did this, again all of the ladies piled over. This time Danny didn’t join but he was still happy for them.
“Kazuki now that things are like this, do you want to explain everything from the beginning or…”
“Let’s wait until after we go find Shin. I don’t feel like explaining things over and over so I’ll let them know when everyone is together.”
“Hmm, that makes sense. Also, we still need to open Glacious’s tiny world. Tsura and Lamia are no doubt worried about Mei and Nunully. Not to mention Lamia is still unaware of Glacious and Etora’s death. Not just them, I’m sure everyone wants to know what happened to them.”
Kazuki felt his heart become heavy. He didn’t know how Nunully or Lamia would react when he told them what happened to Glacious and Etora. They were family and after their death, Kazuki devoured both of their bodies. He did it so he could gain strength in a desperate time but he knew saying that would not go over well. He felt guilty for eating them but he also knew it was the only way he could fight Fera on near-equal ground.
“Your right. Let’s go find Shin first. Afterward, I’ll tell them everything honestly.”
Danny said nothing else.
“Kazuki, maybe I should leave now?”
Bozek walked over awkwardly. Though he was much older than Kazuki and held a reputation for his blunt personality, he was somewhat meek when dealing with Kazuki. Kazuki understood why. His strength was something none could touch in this Lower Realm. He was a figure that now stood above all and Bozek was not close with him in any regard.
“Are you sure? You don’t have to leave if you don’t wish to. After all, you did me a huge favor looking after little Mei while everything was going on.”
Bozek shook his head.
“Anyone would have looked after her. She may be a bit of a pain to me but she is the sweetest person I’ve met. Even for an old man like me who comes off cold and isolated, she would warm my soul with her smile. I though am not a very warm person. For most of my life, I’ve simply been a soldier and did what my King ordered. After all of my fighting, I am tired. I simply wish to rest and be free for once.”
Kazuki couldn’t argue with that. Being chained down by something for so long himself, after finally finishing Fera, he felt he was partially unbound now. If he could simply be free of all his hatred, all of his burdens, how he yearned for such a thing.
“Since you helped take care of Mei, is there anything you want?”
Bozek waved his hand.
“No, I just want to be free and besides, I only watched over her, she on the other hand took care of me. If anything I might owe you or her.”
“Is there anywhere, in particular, you wish to go. I can send you there in an instant if you want.”
Bozek didn’t want this.
“No. After all this time, I want to fly in the sky without a direction. I want to go on my own and see where the wind takes me. I think…I think it might be fun and for once, I will have my fun.”
Bozek turned and took a look at Mei before nodding to Kazuki and Danny. After that, his ring glowed and fire erupted beneath his feet as he launched himself high into the sky.
Mei saw this and became surprised.
“Old Mister where are you going?”
Bozek shot a rare smile at her.
“Someplace far away to have a little fun. See you later Mei Mei.”
After that, the fire blazing beneath his feet sent him flying forward at a great speed. Mei didn’t know why he was leaving but still, she was happy for him that he was going to have fun. Waving at him she shouted into the sky.
“Bye Bye Old Mister! Make sure when you come back you bring me something tasty!”
Kazuki didn’t know if Bozek had any intention of returning but he didn’t want to crush Mei so he kept that to himself.
Kazuki could sense Shin several thousand miles away and opened a new rift.
“Everyone let’s go find Shin.”
Before anyone entered the rift, Asuna asked.
“Are you still going to mess with Shin and act like we are still dead?”
Kazuki rubbed his face pretending to be hurt.
“Why so I can get punched some more. I don’t need any more freakouts.”
Sam averted his gaze awkwardly while rubbing the back of his head.
“Sam I’m just kidding.”
“I know but I still feel bad.”
Kimi huffed.
“Hmph, what’s to feel bad about? Your punches didn’t even do anything to him. Look at his face, there’s not even a mark.”
Kazuki looked at Kimi, seeing she was already back to her old self. This though only lasted a moment before Kimi walked over and out of character she hugged Kazuki and with real sincerity she said.
“Thank you, Kazuki.”
Kazuki didn’t know what to do because he never expected this and on reflex, he just patted her head as if she were a kitten. The very next moment though, Kimi slapped his hand away.
“Who said you could pat me!?”
She then smiled teasingly.
“Only Sam is allowed to give me pats, hehe.”
Kazuki sighed inwardly.

After that, Kazuki and everyone else stepped through the rift and instantly appeared in the middle of a casino.
Stepping out of the rift, the surroundings were full of people gambling, drinking, and more.
(Even though a disaster just happened, this place is still as full as ever. Degra’s not hurting for money I see.)
The moment these people saw Kazuki and the others step out of this rift a roar of cheers echoed out and rocked this underground casino.
“Thats’ the crimson warrior. Wait is there something different about her, her ears are pointy.”
“Forget that, look who’s next to her, Sam the green Knight! His strength is legendary. There are rumors going around that said he held up an entire mountain so King Brian could escape from the base and survive.”
Many stories spread around the crowd, some were exact retellings while there were plenty of overexaggerated tales going around. There were oooos and ahhhhs spreading through the crowd. Whether it was Nunully, Sam, Kimi, or Asuna, they all got fanfare while Kazuki received none of it.
Not just him but Danny as well got no love. When he did everything his body at that time was still the large metallic Golem but now he had a brand spanking new body and was flesh and blood. None of these people could recognize him and that went for Kazuki as well. Soldiers and Mages that were there on the front lines or in the grassy plains where Asuna teleported to would know Kazuki’s face since they were watching a lot of the battle through floating crystal orbs but regular folk was completely unaware of what he looked like.
Kazuki though didn’t mind this. He didn’t do it for them in the first place. Killing Fera, he did it mainly for himself and for those he cared about. Everyone else was admittedly of no consequence. That was his thoughts at the time but after everything was over and he saw all of the destruction both he and Fera caused, he felt a mix of emotions. Some of that emotion was guilt and so he healed everyone who was injured. Not just those affected during the battle but those that were harmed before, those that were crippled, those that were born with blindness, deaf, and so on, he healed them all.
Shin and Triska were sitting just ahead of Kazuki and the others. The moment they arrived and the eruption of noise echoed out behind Shin and Triska, the pair turned around to see what all of the commotion was. Shin looked terrible. It was clear he was rotten drunk. The smell of alcohol lingered in the air around him and his hair was all disheveled. Not even a day had passed and yet Shin was looking like shit.
Shin’s eyes went wide and the drink in his hand fell to the ground causing the cup to shatter.
The moment he saw both Asuna and Nunully alive and well Shin couldn’t help but smile and start laughing right away.
*HEHEHE*
“KAZUKI YOU BASTARD! YOU HAD THIS PLANNED ALL ALONG!”
