Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 4
All four of Kazuki’s limbs were wrapped up in magical chains. These chains were made of an unknown material and were undeniably thin yet with all of Kazuki’s power and strength, a strength that could crush an entire world and warp the fabric of a Lower Realm, in these chains he could not budge a single inch.
Kazuki’s eyes were maddened with rage and killing intent poured out of him in immeasurable waves of hate and pain.
“SEPHRA!!”
This roar filled the room and those that had only given Kazuki a curious glance moments before now took notice of him.
To his anger, Sephra simply glared at Kazuki before turning to Fera with a disappointed look.
“You had one job Fera and you couldn’t fucking do it. After I gave you every advantage growing up. After all the power I bestowed upon you and help and yet you failed me so miserably.”
Fera’s soul shook in anger as she retorted back.
(After everything you gave me! Mother, all you did was set me up for failure. You didn’t end Kazuki that day and because of that, he came back again and again. Each time he only grew stronger. Had you simply killed him the first time, I’d still be fully alive with a body. You did everything half-assed and even those that were supposed to be my ally betrayed me. You picked the wrong people to help me and dragged me all the way down.)
Sephra’s eyes widened in shock.
“You ungrateful little bitch! You were betrayed because of your own disgusting behavior. As for Kazuki, there was nothing I could have done. With Daisius saving him that day and then me being sent back and imprisoned. I have a reason but all you have is excuses. Such a disappointment.”
Fera and Sephra were going back and forth and the crowd was chattering away when someone called out over them.
“KAZUKI!”
The person who was under guard and had entered through the opposite door as Sephra came rushing over and before Kazuki could even see who it was, this person embraced Kazuki and cried out once more.
“Kazuki, my boy. You…Your alive!”
Kazuki was shocked by this sudden turn of events but he became even more shocked once he saw who it was.
“Father…?”
The man who had just hugged Kazuki was in fact Kazuki’s adoptive father, Lin.
The killing intent from Kazuki was flushed and he was filled with confusion. The magical chains holding him in place vanished and he was free once more but he didn’t hug Lin back.
“You.”
This was the only thing that Kazuki could say. His mind was in turmoil.
“I thought she killed you, no one told me you were still alive.”
Lin was filled with immense joy, that is until he heard Fera call out to him.
(Father. Why are you hugging that insect? I…I’m over here, what about me. After all of this time, I finally returned to you, father. Please…look at me at least.)
Lin slowly released Kazuki before turning to glare at Fera.
“You disastrous hate-filled vile little demon.”
Lin’s voice shook with a tremor as he tried his best to contain his anger.
“You have the nerve to call me father after everything you and your mother did. You murder my son and nearly kill my other one and for what, greed, power, jealousy. I can’t kill you but you better understand that if I could, I would have done it long ago. You became so twisted up from your mother but even with her no longer at your side, you still went down a foul path. I was naive, stupidly naive, and foolish to not see the poison running through your veins. My daughter, the sweet Fera that I doted on, she died long ago and nothing will ever change that… nothing. You…don’t you dare ever speak to me again.”
Fera was absolutely devastated. Her mind went blank and she couldn’t even begin to understand. She had done everything her mother said and more. All of it was to reunite with her father. She had placed every ounce of blame on Kazuki and in her heart, she had truly believed that he was the root cause but after her mother’s words followed by her father’s, for the first time in her life there was self-doubt.
She looked to her mother for guidance but Sephra merely snorted before looking away.
At this moment, something inside of Fera broke and she spoke no more.
*Hehehe*
“Such family drama. Does everyone see? This is what happens when you don’t follow my advice. This is what happens when you choose to misplace your priorities and separate from the family. Let this be a lesson for all of you to see. Even I the family head fail from time to time when I allowed my children too much freedom and this is where they ended up.”
Lin heard this and he stared daggers at his father but he dared not to speak. Biting his tongue fresh blood poured down from his chin.
Orberus saw this and smiled.
“Oh, that dangerous look in your eye. Where was that spirit so long ago? Maybe if you had that sort of temperament, you would not have lost so much. This though is amusing in many ways. Does my son have something he wishes to say to me if so I won’t deny you your words after all even though you’ve been here for many years now, we haven’t spoken to one another in all of this time.”
Lin still didn’t say anything. This caused Daisisu who stood at Orberus’s side to release some of his power. A large pressure fell upon Lin causing him to collapse to his knees.
“The lord told you to speak. Do you dare defy him?”
Lin still said nothing and Daisius took this as a personal offense. he raised the crushing force around Lin even more causing him to slam into the ground. The entire throne room then began to shake under Daisius’s might. Everyone in the room began to feel his power and they all started to wince.
While Daisisu did this to Orberus’s son, Orberus simply continued to smile and saw no problem with any of it. Alutra though couldn’t stand it and ran in front of Lin to protect both him and Kazuki.
“Father what point is there for Daisius to flex like this. We all know he is the second strongest out of everyone here. This is just him inflating his own ego.”
Orberus let it continue a little longer just until the pressure Daisius was releasing almost made Lin pass out. Only then did he stop him.
“Little brother, that is enough.”
At these words, Daisius pulled his power back immediately and went silent.
*HAck couGH cough huff puff*
Lin coughed violently for a moment as he tried to calm his erratic breath. Thanking Alutra, she helped him up and he stood next to her. Once he caught his breath, Lin finally spoke and Daisius felt some humiliation. He had used some of his power but couldn’t make Lin talk and Lin would only talk when he himself decided.
“Orberus, you didn’t make my wife do this but you could have prevented it. Had you not been so stubborn and stepped in at the beginning, my first son would not have died. I should have realized this sooner but this behavior is exactly what I’d expect from such a stubborn mule. After all, it was this same behavior that allowed not only my first son to die but yours as well. Tell me Orberus, where would Kazuki’s real dad be had you not been so unreasonable and so unbending. Would he not still be alive to this day.”
“ENOUGH!”
Orberus erupted in fury but Lin still had more to say.
“No! After all this time I will not be silenced so easily. Everyone here knows most of it already anyway. You failed your first son, you failed me your second and you continued and failed your grandsons. I may have been naive back then but you were and still are too blind to see all of your mistakes. One who cannot see because they do not wish to see will only fall because they cannot recognize the path beneath their own damn feet.”
“I SAID ENOUGH!”
Orberus snapped his fingers and the very next moment a rift opened in front of Lin. Kazuki could see some strange blurred figures inside. Several of these figures were chained up or strapped to tables and were being tortured. The very next moment a black hand reached out from the rift and pulled Lin directly inside. Just before the rift vanished, terrible screams echoed out from within it, and then it disappeared.
“It seems my son needs some more discipline.”
“Father this…Why does brother have to suffer after he’s already lost so much.”
Orberus looked at Alutra in a suspicious way.
“He has defied me openly. Of course, he should be punished. What I want to know though is why do you constantly defend someone who has gone against me time and time again. Are you taking his side over mine dearest daughter?”
There was a coldness in Orberus’s last sentence causing a chill to crawl up Alutra’s spine. Alutra put on a smile before shaking her head.
“Never, I wouldn’t dare. Father is father and his words are absolute, now and forever.”
Swallowing hard, Alutra quickly averted her gaze after saying this. Not just her but everyone in the crowd dared not look in Orberus’s direction nor speak a word.
