Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 51
After Detra’s outburst, most of the men and women here were terrified. A few though had thicker skin and were more than a little curious. Kazuki had asked Detra to bring the people directly to him and he had also told her to tell them the reason but it seemed she deemed it unnecessary and just forced most of the people to come.
Kazuki didn’t blame her though, her thinking was still different. She looked through a lens of strength and moved accordingly. Kazuki could already tell what happened or at what most likely happened.
(After consulting with King Brian, she most likely went and plucked these people from their daily lives. I should check and make sure there weren’t any troublesome situations.)
A strand of Kazuki’s aura entered his storage ring and tapped into a tiny looking puzzle box. This of course was the Gosechu box. Kazuki still had this item that he got off of Dreunz’s corpse. His aura began to mimic space, light, and time. The Gosechu box inside of his storage ring began to fold and twist. It took itself apart and put itself back together in all sorts of ways before shining inside of his storage ring. With a thought, the shining light inside showed him glimpses of the past. He used his will to specifically see what he wanted in the past and checked the situation to make sure Detra hadn’t done something she shouldn’t have.
He wasn’t accusing her of murder or something like that but plucking people out of their daily lives could easily lead to accidents.
(If one of these people were looking after an infant or casting magic to lift a building and Detra appeared and took them away suddenly, it might have led to misfortunate situations.)
After looking into the past, Kazuki discovered no such things and sighed inwardly in relief.
(Detra still has an attitude when it comes to humans. She still sees herself above them. She wouldn’t do that to me or mine but that’s only because I am here. The rest of these people, in her eyes, are basically nothing. I can’t say she’s right or wrong in that regard as this is her own experience with humans after who knows how long. Still, I should make myself clear the next time I ask her to carry out my will.)
This whole process of activating the Gosechu box and looking into the past all happened in less than a second so none were aware of what just happened besides Detra. She could always sense when the element of space and time were used around her. Since it was Kazuki though that used it, she didn’t find it odd or give it a second thought.
Kazuki looked over the crowd and saw old Sid sipping from a jar of liquor minding his own business. The two saw each other but the greetings were merely a look of acknowledgment and not much more. Kazuki would have words with him later. For now, he decided to be honest for the most part and explain what was going on.
“Most of you don’t know who I am and you may be wondering what in the 7 realms of hell is going on. So first, I’ll start with an introduction.”
Kazuki released his aura but this time there was no overwhelming pressure as his power entered each of their soul worlds. His aura shot forth and touched each of their soul trees and he shared a few memories with everyone there. They all learned in an instant his name along with the war and the real cause of it. These people all knew that they were being attacked by the Azirians previously and that Fera was the one controlling it. Kazuki left out the fact that Torzz was Detra’s son as he didn’t think this was information they needed.
He showed them Fera and how powerful she was and how he and the others fought against her. He showed how much destruction this all caused as well as him dealing the final blow as he crushed her head in his grip. He then showed him sending down his own power to help heal anyone who was injured and so forth. Everyone quickly got the picture and someone couldn’t help but shout and fall to their knees.
“A GOD, HE’S A GOD!”
Kazukishook his head and lifted the man back to his feet with his aura and put an end to that right away.
“I am no God but as you all saw, the one I fought was a Demigod. Her powers were beyond what you can imagine and only but working together with others was I able to slay her. As you all know now, I am called Kazuki and Fera was my…enemy. Even though it’s true that Fera is dead, this is not the end of the troubles. Due to her special body, begins at the 7th stage like me will be able to sense the special nature of her body from outside of this Realm and will try and enter our Realm to take her body. They see it as a treasure and will do anything to take it away, that includes destroying this entire Realm if that’s what it takes.”
Kazuki could already tell what the others wanted to ask and so he went straight into the answers both he and Detra had caught onto right when the problems were noticeable.
“I’ll say it now but even if we simply hand over the body it won’t stop the fact that Divine energy has already been leaking out of her body and will linger for a long time. So even if the body is not in the Realm others will still come after sensing this dense powerful energy. Destroying the body is also not an option for the same reason I stated before. No matter what we do, enemies will come and that is why all of you have been gathered.”
There were still looks of confusion and a woman wearing glasses shakily raised her hand. Kazuki sighed inwardly before nodding at the woman.
“What is it?”
The woman was nervous but she still had courage as she asked.
“Lord Kazuki, we are all just simple people. We have no say in such power struggles. There’s nothing we can do so why have you brought us here?”
“There’s no reason to call me lord or anything alike. As for the reason I brought you here you should already know if you look around you. I’m sure many of you recognize others in this room. Maybe you don’t recognize everyone but many faces should stand out to you. These people all around are your peers. You few thousand are collectively the brightest minds in this world. I do not doubt my strength but just strength will not take care of everything. If the enemy enters this Realm and uses magic, with their power they could destroy this entire Realm in less than two moves. The ideas that have been going around are to build a trap. That is why I had you gathered here. With your help, I need you all to design something that can hold a being at the Convergence stage. Like I said before, in order to deal with Fera, I needed help from others. This is not something that can necessarily be handled by me and me alone. Do you understand?”
Kazuki spoke up to here and now many eyes were shining through the crowd. This was not only a challenge for life and death but an intellectual one as well. These people before him were Mages, scholars, craftsmen, and more. They had learned and grown all of their lives in the pursuit of magic, building, and knowledge in general. Deep inside many of them wished to test themselves, many wanted to see exactly how far they could go. To create something that could hold a being with such unfathomable powers was both thrilling and terrifying, to say the least.
A few others though were selfish or greedy or maybe even both. A man draped in fine silk linen who looked more like a merchant than a man of magic straight up asked.
“And what type of reward will we be getting. You don’t seriously expect us to work for free, with no compensation whatsoever. Surely a powerful person like yourself would be willing to part with some coin, right?”
As soon as he said this, he got caught the irk and disgust of many there. Most of them walked this world to expand their magic and understanding of magic. It was a noble and pure goal. To hear a man dressed like a fancy asshole talk about money when there was a chance to create something the world had never before seen, it filled them with rage. Not only that but the destruction of their entire Realm was at stake was also no dusty fart.
As anger began to rise rapidly in this large room, Kazuki held up a hand and everyone went dead silent. He looked down at the greedy man but didn’t rebuke him, instead he smiled and asked.
“How much do you want?”
