Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 56

Kazuki agreed.

(You’re not wrong. From this distance, Gordonia really is tiny in our eyes, yet, upon that world is everything you’ve ever known. Every person you’ve ever met, every animal big and small, in and every creature you have knowledge of. Smart people, dumb people, good and bad. Old, young, men, women, and children. Every laugh of joy and every tear of sadness, all of it has been on that small dot in the distance. That’s what you’ve lived in until now and that’s what most of us experience all our lives. As we go through life, the more conceited of humanity believe themselves to be the center of the universe. Most of us know though that we are actually quite small but none recognize just how small. In the grand scheme of things, we are all so insignificant.)

As Kazuki continued, Sid began to feel smaller and smaller and it was almost suffocating. He felt an anxiety like none other. Kazuki already predicted this and continued.

(Sid, the world is only just so when it comes to everything else. In this Lower Realm alone, there are too many planets to count in one lifetime and a number of stars that would dwarf any concept of what could be. Inside this cosmos, there is an area of space filled with many things that you and I have never before seen and more. How many different species, how many different resources that still had yet to be discovered. Trillions upon trillions upon trillions. The scale of which is hard to even acknowledge and imagine yet it all exists. Everything you’ve ever come to know is contained in that tiny dot while nearly everything I know is contained within this Lower Realm but let me tell you, this Realm is just one of nearly an infinite amount of other Lower Realms. Each one filled with more unexplored and never before seen things. For me, that makes me feel small but then I remember something.)

Sid’s heavy breathing started to calm slightly as he stared at Kazuki waiting for what he would say next.

(Through the chaos, the randomness of it all, the unforgiving universe, I realized I am so much more.)

Kazuki overturned his hand. His palm faced up, a ball of flame floated above his hand.

(Magic, is in itself a part of the universe. It is in nearly everything and nearly everywhere therefore it is something that makes up the fabric of the universe. Since this is the case, the moment I take that energy and utilize it myself, am I not controlling a small portion of the universe itself. I am bending it to my will and making it useful under my command. This magic that I hold can never harm me but instead, it is I who can do harm or even create.)

Kazuki held up the small flame and it quickly took on a darker color until it was a black flame. Pointing at a planet that was nearby, the black flame shot forward with a speed that Old Sid could not follow with his own eyes. Since the planet was only a few thousand miles away, Kazuki’s black flame hit it almost instantly.

The planet exploded and sent continent-sized debris flying outward in every direction. A few pieces even came flying at him and Sid, sending a chilling fear through the old man but Kazuki simply stood still in space. The moment the large chunk of planet was about to hit him, it slammed into his barrier of aura instead and was crushed. Kazuki had already checked to make sure there were no living beings on the planet before he had done this so he was covered for that part. As for where the debris would end up flying to, Kazuki simply activated the spinning void in his soul world and devoured the broken planet entirely.

The planet that once was only seconds ago was now no longer a part of this Realm. Kazuki felt his strength improve a small amount and nodded.

(Now it is not me who is small. With my power at this level, it is the planets that are insignificant. It is I who wields the cosmos. You as well have something like that inside of you. Your’s though is not the exact same as mine. You build and create. You said that the Golem you made was treated as if it were a toy then make a better one. You saw god metal as the utmost limit but wasn’t that your own fault. I have adapted all my life, can you not do the same? Are you not a man who hammers metal and conquers both steel and flame? Make something stronger and tougher than god metal. Make a Golem that can take on a planet, take on a star. Have you ever wondered what you could make if you had infinite resources.)

Kazuki pointed at himself and smiled.

(I can supply it all, you just need to come up with the idea, not too hard right, hehehe)

As Kazuki was saying this he turned Sid around and pointed into the depth of space.

(Look at the Realm around you. Some may see nothing but darkness or nothing but light but what I see is infinite possibilities.)

Sid looked out into the void of space and saw a bright star in the distance. Kazuki’s words ruminated in his mind and as he stared at the radiant star, his eyes burned and he had to quickly shut them.

In this darkness, his mind began to swirl with the possibilities. The burning pain in his eyes reminded him of the burning furnace in his shop. That hot scorching feeling, that suffering, and obsession that drove him to lift his heavy hammer again and again to make something truly special. He had only stared at the star for a moment but it had been more than enough to remind him of who he was.

(My body is small, that’s how it’s always been but it’s never stopped me from doing what I loved, what I obsessed over. Hammering away day in and day out, many would think I was simply wasting my time but they were wrong. I have made things that have been used to take on Ancient beasts and Titans alike. I’ve been small but to Kazuki and others, I am not. No, I am much more. I can create things that have a purpose for beings so strong and yet all this time, I’ve had to work with so little. My materials have been lacking, the fire I stoked for so many years, I’ve always wished for it to be hotter and to control it better but I never had much magic. The tools I used I made myself but even they could be improved greatly. Now that Kazuki has made me a Core stage Mage, my power has risen greatly and everything about me has been improved and enhanced by leaps and bounds.)

Old Sid opened his eyes and it was as if he had been blind but could now see for the first time.

(Kazuki, you can really provide me with anything I need?)

Kazuki gave a nod.

(Within this Realm, I don’t see why not.)

Sid felt his chest start to burn as his spirit was lifted.

Sid didn’t hesitate to point at that same radiant blazing star in the distance.

(I want that star!)

Kazuki almost choked for a split second. He could see that light had returned to old Sid and was expecting him to say he wanted a shit ton of god metal or something along those lines but the old man went right for the gut-punch.

Old Sid smiled at Kazuki’s reaction.

(Hmm, were you not just bragging about being able to provide anything and everything within this Realm. Don’t tell me it was all a bluff and you got this giants hopes up? SUrely you can gift me the heart of a single ol star?)

Sid was laughing under his breath teasingly yet serious at the same time.

Kazuki looked over at the star in question. The last time he fought around a star was with Fera. At the time, the power of the sun still scorched him but he could regenerate much faster than it could harm him so he was fine with that. No, the real problem came with the gravity that came from the star itself. Kazuki could barely resist it and that was near the surface. How strong it was the closer he got, there was no telling but Kazuki knew the strength of its pull would increase exponentially.

Kazuki had just barely resisted blackholes and those were fairly small. He couldn’t imagine resisting a full star. At the same time, this was a challenge. In order to recover the heart of a star, he couldn’t simply devour the outside energy and gravity, that could easily damage what he needed. No, in order to retrieve what old Sid wished for, Kazuki would have to put in a little more effort.

Kazuki smirked at Sid and confidently told him.

(Consider it done old Sid.)
