Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 63
As Sid watched the Cosmic crystal, one could see an obsession in his eyes. Kazuki held out his hand to take the small crystal back and Old Sid actually retreated half a step before he reluctantly and painfully handed the Cosmic crystal back. Storing the crystal in his ring, Kazuki asked.
“My device, I don’t have enough time to devote to its creation with all the shit going on right now. I can leave it to you right?”
Sid finally remembered Kazuki’s purpose and with it the long list of things he needed to do.
“I will gladly complete these blueprints and then build it for you. I’m curious though. Kazuki my wish was simply a wish, I did not think things would take such a turn, where you would create something brand new and so on. Are you sure we should even dive further into this? Especially with the Realm so vulnerable? SHouldn’t we wait until this Realm is protected and things have calmed down before we venture into such a large and difficult project?”
Kazuki shook his head.
“Old Sid, this crystal will benefit the Realm greatly. The idea Danny has come up with, my Cosmic crystal will power it. Even if I stop trying to reach the core of a star I will still need many of these if we are to build what Danny has in mind.”
“And what exactly does the big brain have in mind?”
Kazuki smiled.
“The same thing he always does now adays, a Golem.”
Kazuki opened a new rift and disappeared leaving those words lingering in the air. Sid of course was at a loss.
(Golems don’t require so much power. For A Golem to use a Cosmic crystal, that would only be a waste…Unless…A Golem that would need this much power, how strong, no, How big must such a being be to need that amount of power.)
Sid recalled Kazuki mentioning a single Cosmic crystal had enough power to destroy more than 10 worlds and he began to laugh inside.
(Just what kind of monster are you going to create!?)
He then turned back to the table and held up the blueprint ad inspected it closely.
“It’s time I poured my all into this. Can’t disappoint my friend, hehehe.”
Sid opened his own storage ring and began to take out one item after another as he got to work.
Meanwhile, Kazuki appeared before Detra and several Ancient beasts. All of them were already kneeling in front of her and a few had some injuries.
“Hmm, Did something happen?”
Detra didn’t deny it.
“A few of them felt they needed to decide the pecking order amongst themselves and they wanted to choose a representative who would get to communicate with you. I found this annoying so I put them in their place.”
Kazuki found this a little amusing.
(Ancient beasts respect strength among all else. They didn’t want to do this to appease me but rather to show who among them is the strongest. Whoever stands out here could claim strength above the others. Maybe so they could lord over the others or maybe to just say they bested the others and Detra or I was witness to this. That would make it very difficult for another among them to rise up later on.)
Kazuki took one look and could see that something was missing from them.
“Detra, where are the smartest ones. All of them seem to be muscle more than brain.”
Detra rolled her eyes.
“Kazuki there’s no such thing amongst Ancient beasts.”
All of the Ancient beasts felt proud when Detra said this and one even spoke up.
“King Kazuki, all of the smart bastards are so useless. They can’t do anything and are far too weak to even defend territory. Those that are smart are usually the first ones to get eaten.”
Kazuki sighed inwardly.
“You all eat those that show even a hint of intelligence?”
There were simultaneous nods along with shouts filled with pride.
“Yep, every single one. The only ones we could never eat were the Kings and their closest followers, well that is until the Kings died.”
“Hehehe, yes yes, once the King of the south and King of the east were no more, their close followers became meals for us all.”
When these beasts mentioned the beast Kings of the south and east there was clearly some tension.
“You all didn’t like the beast kings.”
A few spoke up in response.
“The kings themselves weren’t so bad but their followers were the worst.”
“Right, so abusive and cruel to any who weren’t one of them. They once framed my nephew and ate him in front of me, but I had my revenge. Once the kings were dead, their bastard followers were outnumbered. After that, we all had a grand feast as we ate their flesh and crunched on their bones, heheha.”
(Beasts are a different breed altogether. Their idea of revenge and mine are worlds apart. Though I do understand where they’re coming from.)
Kazuki found this situation disappointing but also predictable. He thought maybe he would find a few of them that were useful but they didn’t have what he was looking for. Their strength was weak compared to him. he could increase their powers but after what they just said, there was no way he could ever trust them. Even if they respected his strength, that did not mean they would respect the strength of those he cared about. If any enmity piled up between these Ancient beasts and one or a few of those he cared about and something happened, Kazuki would have regrets for the rest of his life.
(It’s best not to tip the balance of power. I’m a human and therefore it’s in my best interest to keep the power on humanity’s side rather than Beasts and Titans.)
Kazuki remembered thinking just how cruel Titans and Ancient beasts were when he was weaker and how things would be different if there was someone who could go toe to toe with them and make sure they didn’t get out of line. So long as he was around, the balance of power would be heavily in human hands. Not because he trusted people more than any other being but simply because he was human and those he cared about most were human. As long as he was around, there would be peace for the most part. Everyone would respect it, otherwise, Kazuki would deal with them.
“I’m sure you all are wondering why I’ve brought you all here.”
All attention went to Kazuki.
“Since I am the strongest, it’s obvious that I am the one in charge.”
Kazuki sent out his aura over the crowd and placed a crushing pressure down on everyone. Before any of them could think, they all fell to their knees as they felt a domineering aura choke at them. They all were shocked and felt like they were on the verge of death in an instant.
Kazuki spoke calmly and coldly.
“This will be the first and last warning for you all. Any who stands against me will be ground into dust. As the one who holds power though, I will not be abusive like the bastards before.”
Kazuki pulled his aura back and allowed them to stand once again.
With a wave of his hand, several large tables and chairs were made in an instant. With a thought, a feast of many different kinds of meat and drinks filled the table.
“I don’t care what you do from now on. As long as you obey me, obey my laws, you can do as you wish. I brought you all here so you could all know that I was serious. Since it may have been inconvenient then accept this meal as a bit of compensation and eat until you can’t move. That is all.”
Kazuki and Detra then disappeared through a rift. The moment they were gone, the silence that had just been was now broken as these Beasts rushed to the tables and looked on at all of the new food they had never before seen.
“Just what is all of this?”
They had never seen so many different kinds of meats and drinks before. These beasts usually lived among other beasts and were not used to seeing human delicacies such as these.
“Is…Is this some kind of trick? Could it be poison?”
Everyone looked at the Ancient beasts that said this as if he were a fool. One of the other beasts stomped over to the table before picking up a piece of meat and taking a large bite.
*crunch munch munch Gulp*
With a loud audible swallow, the beast’s eyes widened.
“Delicious, how can something be so delicious?”
After that, they all began to dig in like crazy. After a while, they got to talking.
“Still does this make sense? A human like him ruling over us?”
*Burp*
A beasts slapped his belly before turning to the fool.
“Those are the rules of the land, the strong make them and us peons must follow. I don’t like it all that much but our situation is already far better than what we had previously. Kazuki may be a human but he himself said we can do what we want as long as we follow his rules. If that’s all we have to do to live as we wish, that’s not a bad price to pay.”
Several beastly laughs rang out one after another before one of the beasts stood up and shouted.
“YOU FOOLS! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU ARE TRAITORS TO YOUR RACE! WE MUST NOT LISTEN TO THIS BASTARD OR THAT BASTARD HUMAN! I SWEAR RIGHT EHRE AND NOW, ONE DAY I WILL PERSONALLY KILL KAZ
*CRACK KA-BOOOM*
The beasts spoke up to here before the sky opened up and a bolt of lightning struck him down reducing him to ash in an instant.
Right after, Kazuki’s voice echoed in all of their heads.
“I told you, one warning.”
After that, every single one of the beasts fell to their knees and began to pray before Kauzki’s voice finally left their minds in peace.
