Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 65

Kazuki thought about the God Ourodyess and his cheat-like ability.

(After a while thousands upon thousands of worlds only give you a small amount of strength. To the other Gods, Ourodyess must have seemed like a plague sweeping across the stars. If they hadn’t stopped him when they did, all of the Realms would most likely no longer exist. Once I become a Demigod I will return to the Higher Realms. I should make sure that my devouring ability does not get leaked, otherwise, just like Ourodyess, it will be my head on the chopping block. No reason to make myself the enemy of all, I’ll keep my secrets safe and secure.)

Kazuki swept through space devouring every dead world he came across, along with several small stars. The stars though could not be fully consumed as Kazuki could not devour them evenly. Once the balance of power within these stars became unstable, that odd effect would carry through as the star exploded, and then basically self ate itself until it vanished from this Realm with not even a trace of energy left behind.

Detra’s map was very detailed and these stars had no surrounding life anywhere near them. Because of this, Kazuki could devour without thought.

His physicality and toughness continued to increase by small increments but this didn’t really bother him. It was understandable. If he could grow at an exponential rate after eating a world, he would most likely already hold a strength that could even threaten those above. The devouring ability was cheat-like but it still seemed to have its limits.

At the same time, Kazuki was eating one world after another, he sent a steady supply of energy from his core, directly to his soul tree. By doing this, his soul would grow. He had accidentally discovered this and it became one of the main reasons he was able to contend with Fera.

(I wanted to discuss this ability with Detra but it seems she is not aware of this ability. I don’t think anyone else is aware of how incredible this discovery is. Should I tell them and allow them to progress like me or should I keep this little secret to myself?)

Kazuki did not want anyone stronger than him ever again. He was tired of being at the mercy of others and wished for that time to never return. He understood that once he enters one of the Higher Realms he would once again be starting at rock bottom but that was something for a later time and something that he could not control. Here and now, however, he had the reigns and he was not willing to let them go anytime soon.

(Maybe I should just allow hose I trust to know of this technique…)

Kazuki was still unsure and left it for now. Pushing all of the noise in his head to the back, he continued through space eating world after world.

His body became increasingly stronger and with his soul tree absorbing his own magic, so to did his soul. With his soul increasing in strength, so to did his capacity for both magic energy and ki energy increase more and more.

1 hour passed, and then another and another until it was obvious that dinner time was closing in. He and the others no longer required such things as food or water to survive but Kazuki still quite enjoyed the taste of food and liquor and he liked the fn atmosphere he got when he hung out with his friends.

(I’ve already consumed tens of thousands of worlds and part of more than a dozen stars. I’ll head back for now and continue this later. Besides food, I still need to discuss Danny’s idea more and explore it in detail.)

Kazuki opened a new rift and teleported away.

The moment he disappeared, a small ripple echoed out in the depths of space. The ripple was so small it went unnoticed.

A tiny tear no bigger than a single hair opened up and a sliver of energy passed into the Realm.

(So the smell is coming from here.)

….

A tiny speck floated in absolute silence around Gordonia. With a thought, the insignificant speck activated and Kazuki stepped inside where planet Kai waited.

The moment he entered, he found everyone lying on the ground completely exhausted. Sweat and blood littered the ground in every direction and the mural of flowers with the image of those who had fallen was destroyed and unrecognizable.

“It seems like you all had some fun!”

Hearing his voice, an exhausted Mei seemed to have found some spare energy as she popped up and raced toward him.

“Big bro big bro it was amazing. I went whoosh and they went bam bang but that wasn’t enough for them to stop me. Once I opened my wings none of them could keep up, even big bro Shin and big sis Triska couldn’t stay on me and had to watch my tail feathers get further and further away!”

Asuna slowly got up and smirked.

“They couldn’t catch you with speed but in the end, I caught you with the element of space. After that, you were asking for your mama.”

A few laughs rang out but Mei started to explain.

“That wasn’t fair big sis. You used magic on me but all I did was fly. If you look at it like that, I forced your hand so that means it’s still my win.”

Asuna shrugged.

“Doesn’t matter if I used magic or not. If this were a real fight, you would have been captured by the enemies and then you would be left crying.”

“Would not would not would not!”

“Really, shall we go again?”

As the two began to bicker, A fist came flying at Kazuki from out of nowhere. Kazuki did not even take a side step as he allowed the punch to connect directly with his face.

*BOOOOOM!*

The wind kicked up enough energy to crush mountains but Kazuki remained in the exact same spot, unmoved and unfazed.

He looked at Shin with an expression that said, what are you doing. Shin though quickly pulled his fist back and spun before kicking out thousands of wind blades at Kazuki. These wind blades carried a tyrannical power within them that could destroy worlds but again Kazuki simply took them head on.

*Screeech scrthchh*

The blades sounded terrible as they struck Kazuki’s body. It was like metal being ricocheted off of metal. The sound of two metals scrapping together was very off-putting and made the inside of one’s ear itch uncomfortably. Again though, there was absolutely no harm done whatsoever. Not a scar, not a scratch, nothing.

Shin took a step back before vanishing from his spot like a ghostly phantom, his speed was incredible and not many could follow along with their eyes. He appeared behind Kazuki and his heel came crashing down from above. Lightning came along with his foot as he struck out with everything he had.

The moment his foot was about to reach Kazuki, Kazuki lifted a single finger.

*BOOOOOOOM*

The sound of thunder resonated and echoed out in every direction but as the blinding light faded things became clear. Shin’s blow was stopped with a single finger from Kazuki.

Kazuki looked at Shin and asked.

“What are you doing?”

Shin wore an unsatisfied look.

“Damn, seriously. That was my absolute best and yet you blocked it with just one finger. What kind of bullshit is this. Not fair!”

Triska came over and explained.

“He wanted to see how strong he had become, he wanted to test himself.”

Kazuki’s brow raised slightly.

“Test himself, isn’t that what you were doing before with everyone else? Why test against me?”

Shin started to complain.

“Are you serious? Besides Mei, no one else here could compete with my speed. They couldn’t touch me. Asuna could use that annoying lock still but besides that, I could deliver a thousand blows to basically everyone here before they can react. They stand no chance. You though are different. You’re the strongest and even now when I used a full-force kick, you caught up and surpassed my speed to stop me. Testing against them is pointless and now it’s obvious that testing myself against you is pointless as well. How annoying.”

Kazuki and Triska shared a look but Triska could only shrug her shoulders.

Kazuki sighed inwardly.

“Hmm, so what your saying is, everyone is too slow except you and me and you have no one that you can properly test out your abilities with.”

Shin nodded and smiled.

“See, you get me.”

“Ok, I get you, so now what?”

Shin wagged a finger.

“If I can’t have a proper fight with them or you then that just means you need to build me an opponent.”

Kazuki was confused but that didn’t stop Shin from becoming excited as he began to explain his idea for a new Golem. One that could move as fast as him or even faster and could go toe to toe with him so he could really test his limits.

Kazuki could feel a headache coming on.
