Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 67
As the girls chatted happily and played with the tiny creature, Mei finally asked.
“Big sis, what’s this funny-looking thing called?”
Alutra looked at the cute fur ball but nothing came to mind.
“I don’t know yet. Maybe you should give it a name for me.”
Mei’s eyes seemed to grow in excitement.
“He’s furry and round so what about Fattyfur!?”
Mei said this with absolute seriousness but right away everyone cringed and Alutra regretted asking her. She quickly gave an excuse.
“Hmm, that’s a lovely name but maybe we should save it for later. We wouldn’t want to keep everyone waiting after all, right?”
Kimi gave an approving nod and a thumbs up while Tsura grabbed Mei and began leading her away.
“Alutra is right, you yourself said you were really hungry Mei Mei. Let’s have dinner before you grow cranky.”
Mei was completely distracted by the thought of food and it went from her mother leading her to her running and dragging her by the hand to the other side of the table. She wanted to sit by Kazuki but Asuna and Nunully were already heading over to him. In the end, she settled on sitting next to Sam and Tsura.
Mei, like always was excited for a meal but she noticed that the Golems were nowhere to be found.
“Big brother! Where is the food, I don’t see any of the cooking Golems. What’s going on?”
Kazuki smiled before explaining.
“Right, I thought about trying something new, something that’s never appeared in Gordonia. What do you think Mei Mei?”
Mei thought about the yummy sweet and cold drink Kazuki had made earlier and she started to drool.
“Is it another tasty thing from that place called Urth?”
Kazuki nodded.
“It’s called Earth and yes it is pretty tasty. Should I make it now?”
Everyone suddenly became interested when he mentioned Earth. Kimi was in love with the frappuccino Kazuki had made and couldn’t wait. Not just her but everyone was anticipating something special. All those from Earth, liked the food in this world ok but they all felt it was not that great compared to what they had grown up with back home.
Shin was the first to speak up.
“Is it RICE! Tell me it’s rice Kazuki and I’ll kiss you right now!”
“No, not rice, and now that I know what will happen the moment rice is introduced I don’t think I’ll ever be introducing it here.”
Shin panicked.
“Ah, I take it back I take it back. No kissing ever! So please somehow can you get rice at some point?”
Shin’s hands came together as if he were about to start praying. Kazuki was going to mess with him some but Asuna, Sam, Kimi, and Danny all had serious expressions.
(All of them are from different parts of Japan. They might kill me if I joke around about rice.)
Kazuki chuckled lightly before nodding.
“I’ll figure something out at some point. I haven’t come across rice in this world but this is just one world of many. I’m sure it’s out there somewhere.”
A wave of disappointment spread across those who were familiar with rice, while everyone else was just confused. Still, the rest were very curious and interested in whatever new dish Kazuki would show them.
Kazuki could recall several species of plant that resembled rice from Earth but none were exact matches. Some had different tastes entirely, some were sweet, some spicy. Some of the textures were way off. If Kazuki were to get the rice they wanted, he would have to find it somewhere off world. However, there was another method that came to mind.
(Using the methods Zephris came up with, I should be able to crossbreed those different types of plants until I get the right taste, texture etc. That will take some time though. Even if I use my power, it would still take a while, that is unless I somehow get lucky on the very first cross-breeding. It would be quicker if Zephris helped but would he even help with something like this?)
Kazuki put that to the back of his mind and decided to just show everyone what he was going to make.
Several rifts began to open around the world and Kazuki’s aura stretched through them and pulled all the necessary ingredients through. He brought everything from the wild for maximum freshness. At the same time, he found this to be a bit annoying. To open up rifts and teleport ingredients all of the time felt almost wasteful in a way. Kazuki decided right there and then he would create a new tiny world and it would be devoted to farming and farming alone.
If he did that, he could literally store the tiny world in his ring and simply open his ring anytime he wanted whatever ingredients for his dish.
Very quickly several ingredients appeared in the sky above them and Kazuki started right away. Wheat was reduced to flour with a single thought and he made sure it had a high gluten content and strength with no impurities. He had olives and with a squeeze from his aura, he turned them into a paste. A sphere of water caught them and the water began to heat and boil while the water spiraled and spun until beads of oil rose to the surface.
Removing the pure olive oil, Kazuki started on the other ingredients. While those from Gordonia had no clue what he was making, everyone from Earth began putting it together and they all grew excited.
“PIZZA!”
Asuna was the first to shout this. Pizza was a dish that almost everyone loved. From old to young, pizza was something all could get behind.
Seeing the way Kazuki was making the pizza, Sam remembered a game he used to play and felt nostalgic just watching, while Kimi recalled the times she and her friends would hang out on the weekends, eating pizza and watching dramas.
Kazuki combined flour, yeast, warm water, and a small amount of oil before his aura kneaded it perfectly and formed several balls of dough.
(Detra, do you mind giving me a helping hand?)
Detra didn’t know why Kazuki was asking her, especially why he was asking her through the mind but she herself was becoming increasingly more curious.
(Wh…What do you need me to do?)
Kazuki gave her the rundown on yeast and how the dough would need time to rise. He showed her exactly how much power she needed to use as she sped up time on the dough. If others knew a being of such power and magnitude was using a god-like ability to simply rise and ferment dough, they would surely choke on their own blood.
What would normally take hours, Detra did in seconds. Afterward, Kazuki did everything else. He made a rich sauce and prepped the cheese and other ingredients. His aura moved the dough and turned it into a perfect round style. Kazuki made several small domes that could perfectly house the pizza. He gathered the best type of wood that would leave a good flavor on the crust before placing it inside and lighting all of the dome-styled stoves.
All in all, Kazuki prepped several hundred pizzas. Knowing how Mei, the Ancient beasts were along with himself, he knew what they would all do once these came out of the ovens.
Some of the pizzas were simple with deep flavors. Consisting of sauce and cheese like a Neapolitan pizza. This was the simplest one but contained a taste that could hardly be beaten. He made about 100 of these while the others were of a different variety. Some had different meats, some had vegetables and some had a combo of the two.
Each pizza entered its own individual oven all at once and began to cook right away. Kazuki didn’t let Detra speed up the time on these, he wanted the smell to hit everyone so this way the anticipation would rise. After about two minutes, he used his aura to turn the pizzas so they would cook perfectly.
The smells coming out of these ovens had the exact effect he wanted. All at once, everyone got closer and closer to the ovens as they drooled like fools. Even Detra, who had no clue what Pizza was, and almost never ate, even she felt a tiny bit of drool spill down her chin.
The tiny furball resting in Alutra’s hand jumped away from her and stood on its tiny feet at the edge of the table as it squeaked with excitement.
Another minute and a half passed and Kazuki smiled.
He had traveled all over the world when he was back on Earth and tried many different foods from many different cultures. By far his favorite food had become pizza.
Another two and a half minutes passed and the crust was golden brown and the cheese was bubbling.
(There done.)
Kazuki removed more than 80% of them and left the remaining ones in for another half minute or so until the crust started to burn a little bit. After that, he took the remaining ones out and set them all down on the table with an audible.
*Thud*
A wave of steam rolled out, bringing more tantalizing smells into everyone’s noses. Everyone could feel their mouths watering and something inside of them going crazy.
Kazuki looked around at everyone and yelled.
“WELL! EAT UP!”
