Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 7

Stunned silence filled the room. Kazuki before everyone’s eyes had destroyed Fera’s soul once and for all. Her existence was no more. Everyone in the crowd, Sephra, Daisius, and Orberus all stared at Kazuki in shock. He was playing as if he was really going to join Orberus but the very next moment his temperament completely flipped and he ended Fera before everyone’s eyes.

Sephra appeared before Kazuki and her hand was already coming down upon him with a power that could tear a Lower Realm apart instantly. Kazuki saw this coming from a mile away but instead of blocking he simply smiled at Sephra like a little imp.

Before Sephra could strike Kazuki magic inscriptions lit up along the floor and walls before dozens of magic chains shot out from many different pillars and stopped Sephra in her place.

(Just as Orberus said, these chains stopped her because of that intense killing intent. In this place, I suspect the only ones who can actually kill are Orberus, Daisius, and someone like me who can completely suppress all of my killing intent.)

Sephra’s eyes filled with rage and a bit of denial as she tried to press forward but these chains held her with such strength that she could not move a single millimeter.

“YOU LITTLE BASTARD! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY DAUGHTER!”

Sephra continued to struggle within the chains but it was completely useless. Kazuki looked her straight in the eyes and spoke coldly.

“How is it mother. How does it feel to watch the person you love, be killed before your very eye? Meanwhile, you are chained up and can do nothing to prevent it. Just as you killed my brother and I was locked down atop a table, you too are locked in place helpless. Your precious daughter is no more and the blame falls squarely on you. I hated Fera but she became that way because of your influence.”

Sephra’s eyes bulged before she spit directly in Kazuki’s face. This spit only made Kazuki chuckle before he did the exact same back. Spitting in Sephra’s face, Sephra lost it. She went completely mad as she began cursing Kazuki as if her life depended on it.

“YOU WORM YOU MAGGOT YOU FESTERING INFECTION THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH FROM THE VERY BEGINNING! HAD I KNOWN THINGS WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT LIKE THIS I WOULD HAVE KILLED YOUR MOTHER SOONER WHILE YOU WERE STILL INSIDE OF HER WOMB! CURSE YOU! CURSE THE MOMENT YOU WERE BORN! CURSE THE DAY YOU ENTERED MY LIFE AND TOOK WHAT BELONGED TO ME! YOU AND THAT WHORE! BOTH OF YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN DROWNED IN A RIVER AND SWALLOWED UP BY THE INFINITE DARKNESS AND

“ENOUGH!”

Orberus snapped his fingers and a rift opened and Sephra was thrown into it somewhere before it vanished.

Once again silence fell over the throne room.

Everyone looked between Orberus and Kazuki and wondered what would happen next. Would Kazuki die, Would Orberus laugh it away, no one knew or understood this type of situation because it had simply never occurred in their family’s entire history.

Power filled Orberus’s voice and shook the room as he spoke.

“Now Kazuki, why would you go and do a thing like that? You knew my intention of bringing both you and Fera under me yet you ended my grandaughter right before my eyes. Do you see me as a fool or do you believe I won’t end my own blood?”

Kazuki wiped the spit from his face before slowly shaking his head.

“I don’t doubt you would kill me for even a moment. As a matter of fact, you would probably kill a family member for much less. Seeing the way all these so-called relatives fear to even speak out against you that is obvious but you made a mistake.”

Orberus leaned forward slightly. The air around him trembled and his eyes began to glow.

“Me…a mistake you say. Why don’t you enlighten this immortal being.”

“Are you sure you want to know? Once I say it, it will be too obvious and you may become even angrier.”

Before another word was said, Orberus waved his finger, and a blade made of aura swept out at a speed Kazuki couldn’t follow. The blade of aura severed Kazuki’s arm from the shoulder and kept going until it crashed into the back of the room and cut through that. The sound of residual echoing bangs and crashes repeated as Orberus’s aura cut through room after room.

This building whatever they were in was not normal and every second powerful inscription lit up automatically to try and quell Orberus’s single attack but even with all of these magic defenses, they were useless in front of Orberus’s strike. Eventually, one final crashing noise rang out and the building shook no more.

This though wasn’t surprising to Kazuki. What did surprise him however was that in all the time that the building was being destroyed, the injury he was left with had not regenerated. His natural healing ability that could regenerate his entire body in less than a second, in this Higher Realm was nearly fully suppressed.

Not only that but he also tried to numb his pain with the flow of ki but even that was restricted. Yes, he could circulate his ki but he could not take away his pain by sealing his pain receptors with ki. His arm was regenerating at an incredibly slow rate. Only a few millimeters a second and the entire process was riddled with fresh pain.

Kazuki grit his teeth but even that barely helped.

“You say I made a mistake and then ask me if I wish to know, does this bit of pain suffice as an answer? Speak before I take your other arm and if you play any more games without answering me, then the moment your first arm finishes healing, I’ll take it again and so on and so on.”

Kazuki was in pain but he had felt far worse time and again. His face twisted with rage. He didn’t avert his gaze and held firm as he spoke.

“The mistake you made was thinking my hatred for Fera was weaker than my fear for you. You thought you could just take me under your wing and I would accept it as if it’s a privilege. In what delusions are you locked in, to think I would want anything to do with someone who never had my back. A grandfather like you who could have prevented years of pain, decades of suffering but instead you chose to watch me as if I’m your entertainment. Testing me to see if I was worthy when it was you all along who was unworthy.”

Kazuki looked over at his distant cousin who spoke honestly earlier.

“Taerus was it? What he said earlier was the truth. Me and Fera, there was no way either of us would ever be able to get along with one another. We would do absolutely everything in our power to plot against one another and we would have no qualms with destroying everything around us including this family to see the deed done. I don’t hate you though Orberus, it’s hard to be angry with someone who was never there. It’s the same as being mad at a ghost or a fart in the wind. At least that’s how I see it.”

Kazuki brought one to many shocks because once again the crowd was left speechless and stunned.

“So that was my so-called mistake. WRONG BOY! My mistake was not showing you beforehand how much you should truly fear me.”

Once more Orberus curled his finger but this time instead of a normal rift that led to some unknown place, a ring of fire appeared. Inside of this ring of blazing flame appeared a different Realm altogether and inside this Realm, everything was on fire. Pools of lava flowed into rivers of lava and mountains burned with both red and black flames. The sky was a deep red and it was a land filled with despair.

The moment this ring of fire opened to a Realm, the entire throne room grew extremely hot and the surface of Kazuki’s skin was already burning and flaking.

Just as Orberus was going to send Kazuki to this burning Realm of hellfire, Alutra stepped in between.

“Father stop this please!”

Orberus glared at his daughter.

“Move!”

Alutra stood her ground, pleading once more.

“This is too much. What has Kazuki done to deserve any of this? What word did he speak that held any falsehoods?”

Alutra looked over the crowd and she grew louder and louder.

“Kazuki killed Fera, so what! We all saw what sins both she and Sephra committed against Kazuki. Even if she is family, that kind of evil against another member of our own is deserving of death. She earned such a fate. Tell me if someone else in our family did all of those things to you or your child, would you not be justified in granting them a true death in both flesh and soul, and who would complain afterward, no one. As for father, are you claiming to be able to control our thoughts? Because we may be loyal to you but that is one aspect you will never have power over as we all have emotions, secrets, and regrets. If all you want is puppets then puppets you will have. Kazuki does not deserve any punishment let alone one of the Hell Realms.”

No one said anything but by their expressions, it seemed that they mostly agreed. Orberus though was a different story entirely.

“Daughter, are you ignoring a direct order from your ruler?”

Alutra began to shake but she nodded.

“Are you going to ruin another person in your family because they do not wish to fall at your feet and worship you?”

Orberus held up his hand.

“So be it, daughter.”
