Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 10
(Kazuki you do realize that even if you change your looks, it will all be for naught if someone takes a look at your soul. In a place where there are Demigods and Gods, you will have your soul looked at forcefully. Have you thought of a way to counter that?)
Kazuki shook his head. He had to admit he couldn’t figure out this one. He could not change his soul.
(I’ll have to hide and keep my interactions with folk down to the bare minimum. I’ll also have to move locations quite often to avoid suspicion. It will be tricky but as long as I keep a low profile, I should be able to steer below my enemy’s radar so to speak.)
Arc began to buzz with static.
(Sometimes you are really too simple.)
(What do you mean? The soul is not something that can just be
Before he could finish his sentence, Arc sent a bit of its power into Kazuki’s soul world. Arc’s began to cover Kauzki’s soul tree.
(Using Origin energy, I can cover a part of your soul. As you know, understanding Origin energy is beyond rare. So far I am the only one I know who can do this. If someone were to look at your soul, they would not be able to see through it unless they understand and can comprehend Oriring energy.)
(I don’t think this will be enough. If someone has suspicions of me and they can’t peer into my soul because of your power, this would most likely make them even more suspicious of me.)
(This is only a part of it. Do you remember how Nevius manipulated your soul to make you forget your hatred? You have already proved yourself to be a manipulator of the soul when you changed the tastes of everyone back in the restaurant. You manipulated their souls in such a way that whatever food you prepared for them became the most delicious dish.)
(So your saying I should change my soul. The dangers of that, I can’t even begin to understand why you would even such this.)
(Once again my idea has gone completely over your head. You have looked into the souls and memories of billions of creatures correct. I am saying why can’t you recreate one of these souls using your aura and your soul reading ability. Just as I placed my power over your soul tree, you can make a false soul by separating a part of your aura and manipulating it to your desire to match one of the previous beings you peered into.)
Kazuki was dumbfounded. This idea was brilliant.
(Interesting. Using this idea, I could technically disguise myself as anyone of those billions of beings. This doesn’t just include humans but other creatures I’ve looked into. This, can only go so deep. I would need to hide the rest of my power deep inside and if a Demigod or God tried to delve too deep and went past the disguise, I would be found out immediately.)
(True but for what reason would they need to go so deep into your soul? Who would suspect that you have created an entire soul with memories from birth until now? The intricacies of such fine detail should be able to fool anyone. After all, if you were to look into someone’s soul and see an entire identity tied to millions upon millions of memories and experiences, for what reason would you be suspicious? This, though may come with a few complications as well. For example. you would have to add several memories to this false identity. If they were to peer into that fake identity, most of them would not have your level of power. You would need to add believable circumstances and memories along with experiences that match up with those identities. Like how they gained the power of aura or reached the 7th stage.)
Kazuki wasn’t thrown off by Arc on this point and smiled.
(That can be easily done. I can simply use some of my own memories and experiences and stitch them together with this new identity. I’ll simply manipulate those memories and replace my face with theirs in those memories. This should fill the gap for the most part. Some other memories, though I can’t simply stitch mine into the new identity. I’ll have to get a bit creative.)
Kazuki and Arc came up with several ideas and it was decided that for anyone around Kazuki’s strength and below, they would use Arc’s power to disguise Kazuki’s soul tree with his Origin power. In that way, those taking a look would not be able to see through Kazuki and the excuse would be that Kazuki is simply stronger than them. This wouldn’t work on Demigods and Gods though. For that, Kazuki would use an identity from the many people he looked into. Using his soul-reading ability and separating a portion of his aura, he would make a fake soul while also changing and adding what was needed. Covering his soul tree with this false identity, as long as no one delves deeper than the surface, he would be fine and his true soul would remain hidden and undetected.
Searching through the many memories, Kazuki found what he was looking for. Kazuki couldn’t believe how many uses the soul-reading ability actually had and he was ever grateful for Nevius and his wife Trilia. Without them, he wouldn’t have this ability and he would still be lost as to why his powers stopped growing.
As Kazuki floated silently in this tiny Realm, the surface of his body began to morph. His skin darkened slightly and his frame shrank by a few inches. A noticeable curve took over his back and he hunched forward. His hair lengthened atop his head in a horseshoe pattern while some of his hair fell away. The color of his eyes changed and took on a sky blue and the bottom of his ears grew a little longer. The hair inside his ears and nose grew a little longer and bushier and all of his hair turned grey.
His nose narrowed and hooked slightly like a bird and his lips became smaller and wider.
His arms and legs became much thinner and he looked very old. With a change of clothes, Kazuki now appeared to be a man that had seen many years. He hid his power and from the outside, he looked to be at the 5th stage and no higher.
Taking a look at an ice mirror, Kazuki nodded.
Arc watched this transformation with fascination.
(It would be suspicious if you looked old and you were still at the 7th stage but by making your power appear to be at the 5th stage, this old look makes sense. Is there a reason you picked this old man though?)
(People are naturally less suspicious of old people. Maybe it works differently in the Higher Realm but I would think the stereotype isn’t far off. Sure there may be many old people who are experts but with the added part where my power is reduced, this may just help to my advantage and people should most likely not see me as a threat. Who do people take notice of more? The big man swinging a mighty sword or the old person walking down the street. Not only that but this old man also had a very boring life. He was good his whole life. Trustworthy and worked hard, that’s about it.)
(Ok but how do you account for him entering a Higher Realm. There may be people with many different levels of power but how did this old man come here without being a Demigod or God.)
Kazuki smiled.
(Simple. I added a few things. This old man, while traveling, accidentally fell into a Negative zone.)
Arc was both surprised and curious.
(From what I know, Negative Zones are completely random. They can appear anywhere and at any time and they can last for seconds, minutes, or even longer before they up and vanish. Inside reality seems to bend randomly. These places are still not understood. So the old man falls into one of these places and then what, he’s spit out randomly somewhere and that ends up being a Higher Realm.)
Kazuki gave a nod.
(Now that is interesting. One can not say it’s false because Negative zones are too mysterious. This is good Kazuki.)
(Why do you sound almost surprised?)
Arc went quiet before completely ignoring the question.
(Ok you’re ready now, right? Let’s go.)
Arc began to pulse and its power spread out in front of Kazuki. A purple and grey rift formed and before Kazuki could respond, he was pulled into the rift.
His vision went white momentarily before he found himself lying down. His head was spinning for some reason before things started to become clear. He felt something hot on his hand and lifted it up to take a look.
*Sssshss*
A bit of sand fell through his fingers. Kazuki sat up and immediately felt something was off. Looking around, there was sand in every direction for as far as he could see.
(This is?)
