Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 104

A few more streets over and they would make it back to the Cortail Shop. The eyes that had been following them the moment Viz vanished did not rest for even a second. As a matter of fact, the more they continued, the more intense this stare felt. Both Kazuki and Arc were on high alert due to this unknown figure but neither could do anything about it.

(Damn, this feels off. Why…Why are they watching me? Arc, could it be that they know you are here with me?)

(I doubt it. My presence is masterfully hidden. They would have to be a hidden expert in order to detect me. As to why they are observing you, it could be because of the rumors spreading about you in the arena or possibly talk of your killing of a Demigod in front of the boy’s shop the other day. Even though this creepy bastard is watching, so far that’s all that’s taking place. As long as you don’t do anything too sudden or strange, I think you will be fine. Just continue walking as normal and everything should be…

Arc’s words paused as it suddenly felt a familiar energy.

(How can they be here?)

Before Arc could say anything else, Kazuki, Marty and Samuel were just passing a dark alley when two figures leaped from the shadows and jumped on Kazuki.

Marty was about to make a move but she felt no killing intent from these two and was surprised when the two called out.

“Big Brother!”

Kazuki as well was shocked when Mei and Kosaru suddenly appeared out of nowhere and jumped into his arms. His eyes widened in shock.

“We found you!”

Kazuki looked down at the two in absolute confusion. Not just him but Samuel, Marty, and the hidden God observing from who knows where all were taken aback.

“Mei Mei…Kosaru! You two…what are you doing h

Kazuki realized how strange this was and didn’t speak another word out loud.

(You two don’t speak a single word until I say so!)

After that, he grabbed Samuel by the arm along with Mei and Kosaru.

“Marty Let’s leave right now!”

Kazuki didn’t speed up but he kept everyone close to him and was prepared for danger to strike at any time. Thankfully nothing out of the ordinary took place and they all returned to Samuel’s shop without incident.

The moment they were inside and the barrier was activated, Kazuki took the little trouble makers away.

“Sir Jentson what is this about, who are those two?”

Kazuki shook his head.

“I…I’ll speak about this later. For now, do not ask questions nor disturb us.”

Marty wanted to ask as well but she knew better. Kazuki would only tell her when he wished to. Asking was pointless.

Kazuki rushed to the second floor. Past a curious Chaka and a questioning Bersik. Even Simmon’s was wondering what was going on but Kazuki ignored them all before rushing to his room with the unexpected guests in tow. Slamming his door shut he immediately raised a barrier of ki and aura to seal off the room to make sure no unwanted eyes or ears could intrude before he shouted.

“WHAT HAVE YOU TWO DONE, HOW DID YOU COME WHY DID YOU COME!?”

Kosaru and Mei were frightened and they both started to tear up but Mei was still strong.

“We had to come! Little Kosaru and I…We couldn’t leave you all alone by yourself up here. Not with a broken heart.”

Kazuki stared at her and slowly shook his head.

“A broken heart…Mei…No…This place, do you realize where you are?”

Mei looked around.

“Hmm, this is a room.”

Kazuki felt his anger softening. Mei’s Mei-ness was shining through. Looking at Kosaru, Kazuki felt bad and gently rubbed his head.

“Kosaru…I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have yelled so don’t cry ok. Big brother isn’t scary…right?”

Kosaru slowly nodded and wiped his tears. He jumped into Kazuki’s arms and hugged him as tightly as possible.

“Big Brother. Don’t leave again. If you leave, we’re just going to follow again.”

Kazuki was surprised by how well Kosaru could now speak but also he wondered about how they would follow. Comforting Kosaru and patting his back he sighed.

“I…first let’s talk ok. Mei, how did you two even get here?”

Mei had a proud smile as she pointed at Kosaru.

“My little brother is really really skilled. He used his power to get us here.”

Mei went on to explain that Kosaru had a teleporting ability.

“When little Kosaru was found after the big explosion, he was floating around and was badly hurt. It turns out that Kosaru had escaped most of the explosion by using this teleporting ability.”

Kazuki remembered that moment very clearly. It was the memory he wished to be rid of the most. The day of his wedding when everything turned into hell. Sephra channeled her power through Fera’s black compass and destroyed countless Lower Realms. Kazuki was barely saved. Besides him, ALutra, Mei, and Lin were all that were left or so they thought when they discovered little Kosaru floating and heavily injured in the remnants of what was left.

(So that’s how he managed to survive that day. He could teleport. To get far enough away though, the amount of power required…)

Kazuki then recalled that Kosaru was strange. When Alutra first discovered him and took him in as her son, they had found Divine energy within him. he had even eaten a soul weapon later. Not only that he was incredibly tough and his speed was close to Kazuki’s back then.

(Kazuki, the little monkey has a unique ability it seems. If the boy can master it, who knows the distance he can cover when teleporting? Nowhere near me but the fact that he brought not one but two people to a Higher Realm under his current power…the boy is special, to say the least.)

“So it was Kosaru who got you two here. Kosaru…I’m glad you are here, I’m glad that both of you are here but you can’t stay. You two have to go back the way you came. Return to Aluntra and Lin and remain there. I can’t promise everything will be fine and I will return but if I do make it out alive, I will return to you two. We can be together then and live just like we did before all of this madness. It will be just like it used to be. So go.”

Kosaru hugged Kazuki even tighter and refused to let go. At the same time, Mei stood in front of Kazuki and shook her head.

“No, We aren’t going back!”

“Mei. You have to. If you stay here… it’s too dangerous for both of you.”

Kazuki was about to say something else when Mei cut him off and spoke.

“After we settled on that strange world with aunt Alutra and uncle Lin, we were all sad. That sadness was made worse when you decided to leave us all. Things just weren’t the same. Alutra wanted to go find you but Lin didn’t want to risk it and the two fought every day. At the same time, with you not there…I felt…alone.”

“But you had Alutra, Kosaru, and Lin. Why would you feel alone?”

“Does Big brother really not know? After mother, there was you. You brought me and mama out of the forest and showed us the world. You gave us beautiful clothes and tasty food. You…You were more than a big brother. Sometimes I even dreamed that one day you could be my real dad.”

Mei started to tear up again.

“After mama died and then you left, all I could think about was the time before all of the bad stuff happened. We were all so happy and then the last bit of that happiness just left.”

Kazuki felt his heart, ache, hearing this.

“Mei. I had to leave. Sephra, after what she did. How can I just let her get away with it all.”

Mei shook her head.

“I understand why you left but that doesn’t mean I will just sit back and let you be by yourself. To me, Kazuki, you and Little Kosaru are my only family left. Every day without you, without mama, it all hurts so much that I can’t stand it. If only I had been stronger at that time if only I could have moved faster and been tougher. I look back at that time and realize that I was…am, still so weak that all I could do was cry. I can’t do that anymore. I can’t be off somewhere in some safe place while you are gone fighting and risking your life. Sephra took everything away from me as well. I can’t sit in some corner of a Lower Realm and cry and cry.”

Mei squeezed her fist until blood began to run down her palm.

“I won’t do it. I will be with my family even if it’s dangerous. I’ll fight alongside you even if it’s scary and hurts. I won’t stop, not until Sephra is dead and gone forever. So don’t you dare try and send me back because I ain’t going nowhere!.”

Tears fell from Mei constantly and this caused Kosaru to cry again as well.

(Arc, can you send them back home?)
