(Arc, can you send them back home?)
(Kazuki you already know the answer to this so why ask? Without enough Origin energy, I can send them nowhere. You must find another way. What about the child? Kosaru got them here with only Dinve energy, surely he can send himself and Mei back.)
(How is it possible that you require Origin energy to move from a Lower Realm to a Higher Realm, while Kosaru used Divine energy to move to a Higher Realm? How did this kid do something that only a Demigod can do? Not only that, the boy managed to locate me somehow and teleport within range of me.)
Arc was quiet for a moment before finally answering.
(That…I do not know. The boy’s potential is great. Maybe it’s instinct maybe something else. For him to locate you and then move to you when he’s not even a Demigod…It awes even me.)
Kazuki found this answer to be useless. He calmed the two children down before opening up his ring and pulling out some snacks and drinks for them. The two saw the snacks that only Kazuki had and they were thrilled. The two greedily devoured them and they were gone in a split second.
(These kids can still eat more than the average ancient beasts.)
Kazuki pulled out more snacks and decided to have some with them. While they ate, he just asked the boy.
“Kosaru, just how did you manage to find me here, and did you teleport or open a rift to get here?”
Kosaru shook his little head.
“I couldn’t find Big brother.”
“What, then how did you find me?”
Kosaru rubbed his nose with pride.
“I smelled and smelled. I looked for your scent across the stars and past the Realms but I couldn’t find your smell no matter how hard I tried. I cried a lot because I thought you had died but big Sis reminded me you could hide and even change your smell so I had to find another smell.”
Kazuki was nodding along. When he took on the disguise of Jentson, body odor was something he could easily change, and did so to match the old man perfectly. Some might claim this was too much but Kazuki was thorough and cautious. It was small details that would sell a disguise and small details that would break it. If one simple thing was off, it could completely destroy his disguise so he copied everything in perfect detail.
“You couldn’t find my smell. That makes sense but then how did you find me at all?”
Kosaru took another bite of a cookie before wiping his mouth with his arm and then pointing at the ring on Kazuki’s finger. he pointed directly at Arc.
“Even though your smell changed, the ring on your finger always smells the same.”
Kazuki held up his hand and looked at Arc.
“You could smell this ring, you could smell Arc?”
Kosaru nodded before eating another cookie.
“Arc’s scent is super super strong so I could find you anywhere. Arc smells like super super pure energy and scary. There’s not a lot of that smell around so it was easy to find.”
Kazuki’s eyes went wide as he realized how dangerous this was. Had Kosaru moved himself and Mei to their location when the decaying eye exploded, the two could have lost their lives. At the same time as this realization, Arc had its own.
Arc flew off of Kazuki’s ring and hovered in front of Kosaru.
“Kosaru, you can recognize my smell!?”
Kosaru was a little timid around Arc but with Mei and Kazuki’s encouragement, he nodded.
“Yes, your smell is unique. I smelled and smelled for a really long time but finally, you used some power and your smell got stronger. That is when me and Mei left and we found you in the city.”
Arc was slightly confused.
“When I used my power. The last I used my power was on the decaying world. If you found my scent then and moved, you would have died no?”
Kosaru shook his head.
“Not then. I smelled you only moments ago. Just like now, you are floating in front of me, you release a scent, a scary powerful smell. It doesn’t have to be much, even when you are just communicating through thoughts I can smell you then. For example, when that weird person was following you, you were using some of your power then. I found you before you guys entered that weird building with all of the people that had marks on their heads going in and out. I wanted to go in then but big sis said we should wait when there weren’t a lot of people around so we waited for you to pass by the alley.”
Arc was taken aback hearing this.
(This boy…He is far more gifted than I initially thought. For him to find my location every time I use even the faintest amount of energy. This is a true skill. Kazuki, do you realize what this means?)
(Yes, you wish to use the boy to find your missing piece but it’s far too dangerous. This is the Higher Realms were talking about. There are experts around every corner and the number of enemies we have is already enough that I find it difficult to handle. If something were to happen to Kosaru or Mei…It would be my fault. I’m not letting them risk themselves for you. We’ll stick to the original plan and find your missing piece without them.)
Arc went quiet before he just spoke out without concern for Kazuki.
“Kosaru, how would you like to help me with something special?”
“ARC! STOP!”
“No, you stop. This boy is a gift and he should be utilized in a way that is most beneficial. He should be proud to be used by this almighty one and not sent away by you to some far-off backwater Lower Realm!”
“ENOUGH! This child, no these children will not be put in danger. Not by you, not by me, not by anyone. That is final!”
Purple electricity began to gather around Arc.
“Just because you say it’s final does not make it so. You are many things Kazuki but one thing you never will be is in control or in charge of this mighty one. So don’t you dare talk down to me!”
Kazuki’s eyes began to glow.
“You can take my words this way or that but it does not change the facts. This boy will not be used by you.”
“Oh, what are you going to do Kazuki? What can you do?”
“STOP BOTH OF YOU!! CAN’T YOU SEE YOU’RE SCARING KOSARU!”
Kosaru was crying in Mei’s arms and Kazuki immediately retracted his power.
“Kosaru and I are here and we’re staying Kazuki! You are not in charge of us any more than Arc is. You two fighting is pointless, to begin with, because neither of us is going back and you couldn’t make us even if you wanted to.”
Arc pulled it’s power back as well.
“Little girl, how do you mean?”
Arc’s voice softened seeing the frightened boy.
Mei was glaring at the both of them.
“Kosaru can’t control his power yet. He just barely managed to get us to you and that was after trying for a really long time. He doesn’t know how to use it properly so we can’t go home. Not only that, even if he could perfectly control it, it would be even more pointless to send us back as we would just keep coming back to you no matter how many times you send us away because you’re our brother and we won’t leave you alone. Even if you don’t want us, even if you throw us away again, we’ll return to your side every single time.”
Kazuki felt a sting in his chest. He sat down next to the two.
“Mei…Is that what you think? I threw you away.”
“What do you call it then? Setting out and leaving to go do something with almost no possibility of returning. You can’t do that to us, we won’t allow it. Kosaru is already trying really hard after leaving Alutra. She was so sad and could do nothing for you. Imagine seeing your own mother cry every day like that. Kosaru is here for you and for Alutra and I’m here for you as well as to help finish Spehra once and for all. You can’t send us away, not without a fight.”
Mei’s hands were trembling when she said this. There wasn’t an ounce of falsehood in her speech and Kazuki could read her soul in its’ entirety, this was not a bluff. If he really did send them away, they would just return every single time.
Kazuki sighed.
“Kazuki, these two are not going to give up so you minus well get used to it and embrace it.”
Arc’s words were an annoyance at this point.
“Are you really saying this to me right now?”
“Kazuki look past your feelings for me and think about reality here. The boy has a power that if perfected could change the course of not just his life but everyone here as well. Not just that but don’t look at the two as a burden but instead allies with great potential in the future.
