Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 113
Now Samuel was filled with curiosity. It’s not that he didn’t believe Kazuki when he said his food was better it was just truly too hard to believe. This was the Higher Realm they were talking about. The best ingredients with the highest quality. Every piece of food, no matter what it was, so long as it was grown in the Higher Realm, it would absorb the natural energies of the universe. This pure energy enhanced everything about the food including taste and freshness. So for Kazuki to proclaim that his food was in fact better when it came from some random Lower Realm…It was just hard for Samuel to wrap his head around.
“Continuing to doubt you will bring us zero results. Sir Jentson, if you say your food is better, surely you will be able to back such words up?”
Kazuki gave a cheeky smile before he activated his storage ring. Quickly a tiny bead appeared in his hand and Simmon’s raised a brow.
“A Tiny world?”
Kazuki nodded.
“Inside of this tiny world, there are billions of different species of animals and plants. I personally designed this world so that I could grow and raise food to my standards. No, the things inside have not had the chance to soak in the energies of a Higher Realm but they have drunk in special properties that would help raise their quality thousands of times over.”
With the knowledge from Zephris, Kazuki had a fine mastery of alchemy. This mixed with a profound index-like memory of every plant and animal, Kazuki had made plenty of his own hybrid animals and plants. Adding in his ki energy along with his magic, and science from Earth, the quality of his goods was nearing something you might find in a Higher Realm. The quality still wasn’t a match of course but it was damn near close in Kazuki’s opinion.
This was only a portion of what made Kazuki’s food great. Besides quality, there was another part, recipes.
Several customized magic stoves appeared in the air. Along with them, there were Wheat grains, yeast, oil, sugar, etc. Everything he needed to make pizza was gathered in front of him. With a thought, the wheat was ground into a fine powder and all impurities were removed in an instant. Combining it with the other ingredients, the fresh dough was kneaded and perfected.
Samuel and the rest watched this display of cooking with fascination. When someone said they made their food from scratch, it was nothing compared to Kazuki’s preparation and execution.
“One thing about the food in the Higher Realm is that it is lacking in several ways.”
Samuel and Simmons wore looks of doubt as Kazuki continued.
A fragrant sauce began to simmer and it opened up the senses and filled the nose with delight as Kazuki continued.
“The ingredients in the Higher Realm really do absorb the pure energy from the Higher Realm but that is not necessarily a good thing. Maybe in the beginning but at a certain point, too much pure energy causes saturation. The so-called highest quality begins to lose both taste and nutrition after a certain period. meanwhile, my ingredients are raised and grown to perfection, and once they reach their most flavorful and best quality time around them stops and they are stored at the absolute perfect moment.”
Kazuki took out some aged cheese that smelled funky. This caused the others to become even more doubtful.
“You see, walking around this city, I’ve noticed the food around here, is not great, or rather the recipes are severely lacking. I wondered why and then came to a realization. This city is run by Gods and their Factions. Gods can still at but none of them require it. Not only do they not require it but the thought of consuming food made by a being weaker than them is somehow offensive. When food is not required it becomes a mere pleasure but Gods can find a billion other ways to seek pleasure that does not require eating. Because of this, they pay little attention to the production of food. It is a necessity for everyone below the 5th stage and eveyrone at that level is nothing in their eye so they do not care.”
Samuel was beginning to understand.
“So the Gods not caring about the production of food means, those that make it are overlooking some things or rather by the time it comes to the people who need it and makes it, they are lacking…in recipes?”
Kazuki shrugged as he began to combine even more ingredients and with it, several pizzas went into his magic stoves.
“It’s only a guess but in a city that does not care about food and where most are servants, the time to invent or create new recipes becomes severely limited. Especially when the ones in charge do not care about it. If 90% of this city is made up of poor people and servants, they tend to make do with whatever they can get. I don’t doubt that there are other places in this universe where the cooking is perfection but in a place like this…It is pretty close to low. I took a glance at the food from earlier and it was very noticeable in the way Chaka used spices or rather the lack of spices she used. You are by no means poor Samuel but the ones who cook for you just don’t know much about cooking.”
Chaka sneered at Kazuki but Kazuki didn’t care. Very quickly the smell of melted cheese filled the room. All at once, Kazuki removed well over 50 pizzas. Every single one was different and every single one smelled amazing. Some were covered in simple cheeses some had different meats or vegetables and so on and so forth.
Kazuki decided to treat them with something simple first. He took one of the cheese pizzas and cut it into four large slices before putting them on four plates and tossing them to Samue, Chaka Bersik, and even Simmons. None of them were prepared to have food thrown at them and they all scrambled to catch their designated plates.
The smell was already tempting but now that it was directly in front of them, they all felt their mouths water. Simmons still was hateful but smelling this plain slice of cheese pizza, caused something to stir within him. Still, not a single one of them ate it.
Mei stared at them all with strange looks.
“Why aren’t you eating Big brothers food? Are you scared to eat it now? Don’t want t admit big brothers food is the best?”
Samuel was annoyed and slightly embarrassed. He didn’t want Mei to think he was a scared little boy.
“Whos afraid? I’ll eat it…”
Samuel picked up his knife and fork and Mei and Kosaru immediately broke out in laughter.
“Hehehaha, Little brother Samuel, you don’t use a fork or knife when eating pizza. You have to eat it like you’re attacking it.”
Samuel stared at it for a second before glancing at Bersik and Chaka.
“Bersik, you’ve traveled many places in the past, surely you know how to eat this so-called pizza. Show me how it’s done.”
Bersik’s eyes widened and his short tail tucked between his legs.
“Young Master, I’m embarrassed to say this is the first time I’ve ever seen or heard of a pizza. This one does not know how to properly consume it without utensils. Forgive me.”
Samuel then looked at Chaka and she quickly waved all four of her arms in the air in confusion.
“Please forgive me, Young Master, I don’t get it either.”
Samuel looked down at his plate like he was trying to figure out a riddle. it seemed he was taking it a little too seriously.
“Um…How does one eat this strange thing?”
Kazuki gave Mei and Ksaru a look.
“You two, why don’t you show them how one properly eats pizza.”
Kosaru nodded excitedly and Mei smiled before the both of them grabbed a whole pizza each. They took their own pizzas and folded them in half.
“Like this little brother Samuel. The trick is to fold it in half and just go for it. Just don’t melt your face hehe.”
Samuel became a little fearful hearing Mei’s comment but quickly realized she was kidding. he grabbed his slice similar to the way Mei grabbed her pizza and proceeded to fold it in half. As he did this, all three of his servants leaned forward as they watched with curiosity.
Samuel looked at them and laughed inwardly.
(What if this was poison? Letting their Master go first, fools.)
Samuel ignored their focused gazes and took a large bite. The moment he bit down, an explosion of new and unique flavors danced atop his tongue. Samuel’s body suddenly shook. As the slightly sweet sauce spread and mixed with the crisp crust and the blended and perfectly melted cheese, It was as if time stopped for a moment.
(This…What is this!?)
