Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 115

After Marty tried the pizza she had the same ridiculous reaction as the rest. Mei continued to brag about all the other food Kazuki could make but this time not a single person doubted her. Instead, they now anticipated the day they got to try more of his food.

With that, the rest of the meal was fun and light-hearted. There was something about trying new delicious food with others, experiencing some good in a storm of all the bad. With enemies already working on their next move, it was just nice to have a meal with friends.

After the great food, Mei and Kosaru played together while the servants cleaned and tidied up. Marty returned to the basement, her workshop, and went right back to working on her new glider.

While everyone was busying themselves in their own way, Kazuki and Samuel were sitting in the boy’s office. Kazuki’s power surrounded Samuel and he strengthened Samuel’s soul and Mage’s core with his own energy. Just before Kazuki helped him climb the many stages of magic, Kazuki asked one last time.

“Are you sure you wish to proceed?”

Kazuki didn’t ask this to discourage him but rather he wanted to know if the boy’s determination was true. Even before Samuel answered, this question sparked a movement in his soul and Kazuki could read it as plain as day.

“I have to do this Sir Jentson. Things will not be safe until my enemies are no more. Until Adigus is destroyed and his soul shattered. Please, help me reach the Convergence stage.”

Kazuki said nothing more and his power seeped into Samuel’s body and soul world. Tapping into his soul tree, Kazuki fed it and molded it. He shared some magical energy and drove it into Samuel’s Mage core.

Samuel’s collapsed to the ground as he felt extraordinary pain rack within his mind body and soul. It was as if all three were begin ripped apart and put back together. His body broke down and repaired itself numerous times, growing stronger and stronger with each iteration. A foul smell filled the room as his body secreted a dark blackish sludge from every single pour. These were the impurities he had built up inside, that his body had not been able to get rid of.

Kazuki quickly disposed of it and purified the air removing the rotting stench. Samuel’s began to grow taller and his bones creaked. His blood flowed faster and his vitality increased several times over.

The core within grew and grew before breaking apart. Reforming, it then fused with his mind and body. His soul then fused together as well and it all became one. The room shook with tremors as the boy’s power exploded upward. Kazuki surrounded the boy with his aura to prevent anything dangerous. This was just a precaution but in reality, under Kazuki’s power and control, such an accident would not occur.

Chaka and Bersik were downstairs finishing up their work when they felt the violent quick shaking.

“Bersik, Young Master will be ok right?”

Bersik didn’t answer right away but when he did he smiled.

“Sir Jentson has not lied to us yet. He’s only helped Young Master up til now. If he says he’ll do something, I feel we can place our trust in his hands.”

“I still don’t understand why Sir Jentson is willing to go this far for our Master. How do we know he doesn’t have any ulterior motives, what if he betrays Young master as Simmons did?”

Bersik sighed before folding his arms over his chest while thinking deeply.

“I doubt Sir Jentson will do such a thing. He’s had no reason to help besides a monetary goal. As long as he’s rewarded I don’t think he’ll turn on us.”

“Isn’t that kind of scary though? Doesn’t that mean if someone comes with a higher price he’ll simply work for them?

Bersik again didn’t believe that to be the case.

“Do you think a Demigod like Marty would trust a 7th stage so easily? You know how Demigod’s behave. Once they become Demigods and take a step into Godhood, they become eccentric and most of the time narcissistic. They believe them to be above all other beings besides Gods and they tend to treat others as garbage. Yet besides those children, Marty seems to trust Sir Jentson the most and they have no relationship outside of friendship. The trust they have is not simple. The way she acts around him, it seems those two have been through some rough situations. Not only that, because she is friends with Kazuki, she treats us who are slaves well. The rules and the natural way of society does not simply flip overnight. So when I say she places her life in his hands, I don’t say it lightly, and if she a Demigod can do that with someone at a lower level than she. I believe it is because Sir Jentson really does garner that much trust. Therefore, I chose to believe that he would not cross that line and betray Young Master.”

“But even if I take all of that at face value, why would someone risk their life for money like this?”

“Chaka you are thinking with a slave mindset. To you and me, money holds no value because we are not allowed to have it. To those that are free, money is the key to the door that opens up nearly every path or option. With money, you can gain power and authority over others without lifting a finger. I don’t know why Sir Jentson wishes to have so much money but if it is him, I’m sure he has his reasons and we shouldn’t pry.”

“Damn right!”

Simmons seemed to appear from nowhere as he spoke. He glared at the two.

“You think you can just discuss Young Master’s guests behind their backs? Have you two forgotten where your place is?”

Chaka stood up and glared back.

“I have never forgotten whom I serve but you on the other hand…Just who was it that almost Young Master get taken in a plot of kidnapping? Just who was it that betrayed Young Master? Who was it that talked back to Young Master’s guests and caused trouble each and every time? Young Master allowed you to keep your life after all of the bad but you are still not showing any grace and then dare to insult me and Bersik. We are the loyalist, you the traitor. So don’t bark at me, you vile vile man.”

Bersik and Simmons were shocked. Chaka had never spoken like this before. Simmons really took this in. At first, he was pissed but each and everything she said was true. Every word was a needle under his skin, pricking his soft spots.

Simmons’s aura began to seep out and Bersik thought he might really harm Chaka and quickly got in front of her to block him. Simmons saw this and he gnashed his teeth.

“Do you think I was going to hurt her?”

Bersik said nothing and didn’t dare look Simmons in the eye. Even if Simmons and he were both slaves, this did not mean they were equal. Simmons still held the power of a 7th stage being and could kill the two of them with a mere thought. Still, his body moved automatically and he became stiff and unmoving.

Chaka as well realized what she had said. She was just completely stressed out and scared for her Young Master that everything just suddenly boiled over and she let Simmons have it full on. Her brave face swiftly warped into one of fear but she did not break eye contact. She stared at Simmons ready for the consequences but they never came.

Simmons could see how terrified the two were and at first, he felt good but barely a second later he felt shitty. These people were not his enemies, they were his comrades. They all served the Yong Master and standing before him were as Chaka said, the two most loyal while he was the traitor.

Simmons was filled with hatred but it was not for these two. They did nothing wrong and he knew it. Then it began to hit him all at once. Just who was he angry with, and why was he directing it toward two people who had nothing to do with it? He then thought about Samuel and it most certainly wasn’t him. This led him to Kazuki but again Kazuki did not cause this. he still was pissed because of Kazuki’s general way of doing things and so on but to pin everything on him, again Simmons knew it was incorrect.

This then led him to Terinus, Samuel’s father. The one who denied him his request to save his family. Now that Terinus was gone, holding onto this grudge for him no longer made any sense. Then who was it, who was his enemy?

This thought lasted for barely a second. It all came to him at this moment. He had been blinded by his rage and discontent but now, Chaka’s words had hit him like a hammer as he realized who the true enemy was.

Simmons’s body trembled.

(Damn, what a fool I’ve been. Of course, it’s those that kidnapped my relatives in the first place. ADIGUS!)
