Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 118

Viz arrived a little while later. When he sensed Samuel’s power and saw that he had grown almost half a foot taller he knew there was an interesting story behind it. Kazuki explained and also mentioned the kids but only gave Viz the same story he gave Samuel. Viz’s interest went from high to low almost instantly. He thought the story would be interesting but it was mundane and he quickly changed the subject.

The three then began to discuss the current problem.

Where to house all the incoming slaves. They were set to arrive on this day but the shop was nowhere big enough to hold 50 slaves. This was when Viz made a suggestion.

“If it’s space you require, why not come to my castle?”

“To your place? You have a whole castle. I bet that cost a fortune.”

“Not really. The last guy that owned it really pissed me off. After I killed him, there was no one to claim his property. Unlike Samuel’s shop, if you die, it goes to your oldest sibling correct?”

Samuel looked weary.

“That’s how it’s supposed to be but I tried contacting my brothers recently. I could not get ahold of any of them. I’m afraid they…Forget. I can’t think about such things. Viz, this castle of yours, you’re really willing to share the space.”

Viz shrugged.

“I and my servant Gider are the only ones there. It becomes incredibly dull. With you all there…Things should become fairly interesting, no? Besides all that, in order to best protect my interest and my portion of the business, it will be that much easier if you just live with me. It’s annoying coming down to this ragged part of the city.”

For them, the decision to move shop was easy and made sense. With enemies as strong as a God, moving in with a God was a no-brainer.

After relaying this to everyone, they all packed up. Of course, there was not much to pack in the first place. A few bedrooms, the kitchen and dining room etc. Chaka stored it all in her ring and Marty stored her entire workshop that was down in the basement and with that, they were ready to leave.

Mei and Kosaru came around but again Viz had no interest in them and ignored them. Mei was angry at straight up being ignored and wanted to say something but Kazuki told her to let it go. Kosaru on the other hand didn’t care in the least. He was more interested in the great big castle that was described. He had never been in a great big castle and couldn’t wait to see it and explore it.

Like this, everyone left the Cortail Merchant Shop and headed to their new shared home.

As they made their way down the road and headed deeper into the city, Viz pointed out in the distance to the tallest standing tower in the city.

“If you look over there you can see part of my castle. That tower has an exceptional view. You can overlook the entire city from there.”

Marty admired the architecture and wondered.

“What era was it built? It looks to be from the Faxien period but the decorative fixings seem a little later.”

Viz was stumped.

“You know I never actually looked into it. I just live in it. Are you interested in that type of stuff? I find it boring.”

Marty shrugged.

“My interests are vast. I admire things like that, especially things that deal with the past. I’m mostly interested in old technologies. How they were built and designed and why? Sometimes it feels as if those of the past knew more than those in the current era. That type of stuff simply fascinates me.”

As they continued to chat, Viz’s voice entered Kazuki, Marty, and Samuel’s minds.

(By the way, who is the annoying fellow who’s been watching us all this time?)

Kazuki could not sense anyone and neither could Marty but Kazuki was aware of who Viz was referring to.

(I don’t know myself. Whoever it is has been watching us almost since the beginning of us entering this city.)

Marty and Samuel became alarmed but Viz told them to be calm.

(Jentson, I noticed this person the other day but it is not everyone else they have been watching but you. Another God interested in you. Somehow that annoys me. Could it be a poacher, trying to move in on my business?)

Kazuki didn’t know if Viz’s guesses were accurate or not and before he could delve deeper into that line of thinking Viz took a step forward and called out among the crowd.

“You dare try and hide in front of me. You are suspicious. Come out or I will drag you out by force.”

Viz said this calmly but there were many people walking to and fro who stared at him as if he were weird. They had no clue what he was talking about and they began to think strange things.

Viz asked once but there was not a single reply. Viz grinned.

“Really, you chose force. Fine.”

Viz raised a fist but before he did anything a person in a long dark and dirty cloak stumbled out from the crowd.

“Wait! I…I am here.”

The crowd parted when this happened and realized Viz was actually talking to this person. That didn’t change the weird stares and people began to sense trouble brewing. Very quickly the crowd dispersed and everyone moved away fairly quickly. They wanted no part in whatever this was. Not when Viz was the one appearing to cause some type of commotion.

“You’ve been watching my little friend over here…For what reason is a broken God like you showing such interest in a 7th stage like Jentson?”

The person under the cloak was silent.

Viz clasped his fist shut. He was growing annoyed.

“Do you think a weak and broken fool can sit there without answering me? Do you believe I won’t crush you? Watching my business partner like this, are you trying to ambush him, kill him, kidnap him? Either way, it was a fool’s errand to attempt something like that with me around. Not answering is fine as well. Death is fitting for those trying to take away my profit.”

A silver flame gathered around Viz’s huge fists. The air immediately warped and a terribly hot haze spread out all around. Kosaru and Mei who just experienced a terrifying time around such heat couldn’t help but take a step back and hide behind Kazuki’s back.

The person in the cloak also felt fear and quickly threw off their hood and kneeled down. Not in front of Viz but instead they kneeled in front of Kazuki.

“Please don’t let him kill me!”

Kazuki stopped Viz as he looked at this person in confusion. It was a man or rather part man. This person was covered in patches of scales here and there. He had sharply pointed ears and a large scar on his chest. This though was not the reason Kazuki stopped Viz from attacking him but instead because of the creature’s eyes. One was colored fully yellow and the other red.

(Just like Glacious’s eyes. This man is from the dragon race or rather partly so.)

From every bit of knowledge, Kazuki received from Glacious. Those of the dragon race was arrogant beyond belief and looked down on anyone who was not a pure-blooded dragon. The only dragon who wasn’t like that to Kazuki’s knowledge was Glacious himself. This person before him wasn’t a full dragon but you would still expect arrogance from someone with half that blood running through their veins. Along with the fact that this man was a God, there should only have been arrogance, yet he was kneeling in front of Kazuki.

Combine that with eyes that matched the man who sacrificed his life to save him, Kazuki was beyond curious at this moment.

Kazuki could see that the man was shaking from head to toe.

“You have been watching me…Why?”

A soft glow emanated from this man’s eyes.

“Because I can see it. You are the man that can help me. After all these years, after all this time, I have found someone that can help. Someone that can sense the truth of a person’s soul and heal something said to be impossible to heal, the soul.”

Kazuki’s eyes widened and he quickly set up a barrier in the middle of the street.

“Viz, help me block anyone from listening.”

Viz was now curious. He raised his own barrier and blocked out any and all from listening in.

“Jentson, what is this broken thing talking about? Healing the soul, that’s not possible. Not unless one is a druid but those beings no longer exist.”

Viz couldn’t take the man seriously but the way Kazuki suddenly went quiet, Viz realized something. There was a hint of something in Kazuki’s silence. Not only that, Viz had heard about the saves Kazuki had picked. All of them had damaged souls of some kind. He wondered why in the 7 Realms of Hell Kazuki would do this but now something clicked in his mind.

“Jentson…are you a druid?”
