Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 120

Even though Samuel was a small child. With the strength of the 7th stage imbued within him, his voice was booming and filled to the brim with power. He called out in a commanding tone and the grounds trembled slightly.

There was a single large wagon that held all 50 slaves. When these people heard Samuel’s order, their souls could not refuse and they all stepped down from the Wagon.

After they stepped down, the driverless wagon, without instruction, turned itself around and headed back from whence it came.

Gider bowed to Viz after finishing his mission.

“Masssster, the slaves have been escorted here without trouble. Anything elsssse?”

Gider’s scales flexed instinctually when he came near the broken God. Gider felt immense danger and fear from this man and went silent. Viz found this interesting.

“Hmm, Gider it seems your serpent blood is reacting negatively to his dominant draconic blood. Maybe because he is of a superior species.”

The stranger did not know what to say to this. He simply looked away from Gider while Gider on the other hand felt as if he were frozen just by being in the strange man’s presence.

“Gider, prepare enough rooms to accommodate everyone here. They will all be living here for the time being.”

Gider was still frozen in place. Viz raised a brow before placing a small amount of power in his voice.

“GIDER!”

Gider snapped out of it and promptly followed his Master’s order. Running off, he disappeared deep into the castle’s interior.

Kazuki looked at the scaly strange man and wondered why Gider acted so strange around him just now. Viz noticed this look of curiosity.

“Do you not know Jentson?”

“Know what?”

“About the blood hierarchy. The way you were looking confused just now, it’s written all over your face. Some creatures, no matter how evolved they may seem or present themselves, they know what they are and understand where they fall in the food chain. Snakes, of course, cannot stand up to the superior blood of a dragon. Even if this odd broken God isn’t a pure blood, the amount of dragon blood within him is more than enough to overwhelm a lightweight like Gider. Curious though, why is a half-blood alive in the first place? Dragons typically have the highest arrogance and ability. They would not allow a dragon with partial blood live, so why is this one still alive?”

Viz was curious about the stranger’s story but only by a little bit. More than a broken God, Viz stared intently at Kazuki.

“This thing has its own story but you are even more interesting are you not? Not a druid but you seem to have some type of connection to them don’t you? Do you wish to tell me anything?…”

Kazuki sighed inwardly. This was something like a threat and not a threat at the same time. With Viz’s power, it was clear he could look into Kazuki’s soul at any given point. Maybe Arc could block him or maybe not but it didn’t even matter. After the broken half-blood showed up, Arc had gone silent and besides that, if Arc did block Viz from looking inward, it would only cause Viz to become even more curious. This much Kazuki could tell.

(Damn it Arc are you really not going to say anything at this time!?)

Again there was no response from Arc so Kazuki was on his own. If he just stayed quiet it would only invite more scrutiny and possibly Viz’s irk. He could not wear the man’s patience so Kazuki made a call.

“Kosaru, Mei, you two stay here while I have a chat with Viz and this stranger.”

Mei was about to protest but Kazuki stopped her.

“Mei, this place is new. Don’t you and Kosaru wish to explore the castle?”

Mei could tell that not all was right but she was supposed to listen and not be a burden to Kazuki. She smiled wearily.

“Ok big brother. Come back soon.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”

Marty smiled with a hand on Mei’s shoulder.

“Don’t worry, I’ll watch the kids while ya have your little talk. Hurry up though, I have many things I still need to take care of.”

Kazuki gave a small nod before heading into the castle with the half-blood and Viz. Kazuki didn’t stay and help with the slaves either. They all had a slave mark on their heads that he could both sense and control. Not just him but Samuel could do so as well. They had left a drop of their blood back at the slave market and it had already been embedded within all 50 slaves. If even a single one got out of line, either Kazuki or Samuel could deal with them with but a thought.

Samuel was a little worried at first but with the slaves already having a slave mark on their heads, he felt comfortable enough to command, or rather he had to get comfortable and so he stepped up while Kazuki went to have his chat.

Kazuki, Viz, and the stranger did not go very far. Viz led them to a large dusty room. It was some type of entertaining room and had many furnishing all covered in dirty old cloth and sheets.

(This place has not seen the light of day for quite a while. I guess Viz isn’t too social, though that isn’t exactly a hard guess the way he acts around not just others but Gods.)

The moment the three stepped into this old dirty, damp room, Viz raised a new barrier so that no one could hear.

“So by coming here, I take this as a sign you will stop hiding secrets from me?”

Kazuki sighed inwardly.

“Yes…and no.”

“What?”

“I will tell you a few things but to tell you everything…that would be foolish.”

“You do realize me asking you in the first place is a mere courtesy. I can easily take a look any time I wish.”

“I am aware but at the same time, if you were to take a look inside any and all trust we have or ever could have will be reduced to ash and embers. Never to remerge as a blazing fire.”

“Your words are lame. Was this what you had to say to convince me to not look? This is the foolishness you speak of, not me looking at your secrets.”

“Wrong. It is not foolish. My trust, it is something you will want to hang onto I guarantee it.”

Viz was already curious about Kazuki but this set an expectation at 11.

“What…do you mean? Don’t speak in circles. if I feel like you are wasting my time

“I’m not. I believe you will want to hang onto my trust because it will be beneficial to you in the future. If you look inside my soul world, you will break something that can’t be repaired.”

Viz went quiet for a moment.

“You think you are so special?”

Without hesitation, Kazuki spoke.

“Yes. before that though, before we mention me, what about you? What was it you wanted? I believe it was to leave Gauldriss city behind and travel.”

“No not travel, adventure. Test my true capabilities, fight and prove my strength and discover new and incredible things.”

Kazuki nodded.

“Yes, and in order to do those things, you are lacking what exactly?”

Viz was becoming annoyed.

“Money, a disgusting amount of money. You already know this.”

“True I do know this. In order to escape the four cities, you need a vast fortune just to pay the toll at the stargate to leave this star path to go to another one. If it’s just money though, why do you not already have it? You are powerful no doubt. Why t go to the arena and net on yourself?”

“You think it is so simple. Sasha, Lestirius, and Olresth, these three own the arena. They would not allow me or anyone else associated with me to bet as they know what I can do. As a matter of fact, now that they know of your power there is no way they would allow you to fight and bet in the arena anymore either. Not just them, but many in this city detest my strength and so they have tried all this time to corner me. In doing so, I have very little in terms of money. This is one of the reasons why I only have one servant even though I am a God. They choke the pipelines of money and allow none of it to flow to me. I could start a war, and fight them but nearly everyone would support them, all because I won’t join sides and be their lap dog. This is why when I saw the opportunity to take your share of the boy’s business I leaped at it.”

Kazuki was still bitter about that but there was nothing to be done.

“Yes all of this comes down to money and as things are set, you will soon be making loads of it and your dream will be fulfilled right?”

“It is as you say.”

“Wrong. There will be no money. Not for you, not for me, not for Samuel or Marty. We will be left adrift with nothing fairly soon or we will all be killed. Whichever comes first…I can’t say but if things continue like this, the future will be bleak.”
