Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 122

Viz looked at Kazuki as if he were crazy.

*HAHAHAHAHA!*

“Right, how interesting. The idea is beyond ridiculous. In the history of all things, has a God ever treated a mortal as an equal? Do you really know what you’re asking of me?”

Kazuki gave a light shrug.

“Maybe there’s just never been an opportunity like this before. Who’s to say for sure? As for whether or not I know what I’m asking of you, I honestly can’t say. What I do know though is that you have been stuck here for countless years. You are being squeezed, suffocated, and forced into a corner. Dragged down by those that wish you dead. When it comes down to it, I may just be the catalyst to see your dreams come to fruition. The chance is here, waiting for you to reach out your hand and grab it. Are you really willing to let such a gift slip through your fingers? If things don’t change, will such an opportunity ever come your way again…I don’t think so.”

Vi’z’s laughter sank inward and he became quiet. Taking everything into account, he understood his situation far more clearly than anyone else. he truly was stuck in this poor city on the edge of the Realm. To wait around for a new opportunity that may never come again. He would be a fool not to take this shot.

He grabbed Kazuki by the hand and shook it.

“You have a way with words. You say things as if you are a gift from the heavens and you give one a feeling that things may really fall in order as if riches will soon fall from the sky.”

Viz pulled Kazuki forward until the two were a mere inch or so away from one another. he stared directly into Kazuki’s eyes with a fiercens that sent chills down Kazuki’s spine.

“Here’s the thing though little mortal. There is no such thing as heaven and fantasies will only lead one to their eventual doom. You are no gift to me, you are not the all-knowing, the masterful, or the one true. You are beneath me, now and forever.”

Kazuki felt the bones in his hand break as Viz gave a slight squeeze. The breaking of bones though was a pain Kazuki could easily endure. At the same time, Kazuki kept eye contact and didn’t flinch nor did his heart rate change. His ki circulated automatically and his expression didn’t change.

“Everything you just said to me Viz, every word, I already know. Fantasies are just that. I do not know everything nor the one true, whatever that is but there are a few things you’ve gotten wrong just now. Can I explain?”

Viz was a little surprised and curious. He sent a fragment of his power into Kazuki’s body and started to destroy it.

“Go ahead little mortal, speak. What words do you have even now? What is it that this God got incorrect?”

“Nothing major. It’s just that even if I am not all of the things you said before, I am incredibly clever.”

As Kazuki said this, his ki circulated at full force. At the same time, he released all of his magic and aura to try and fight back against Viz’s power. His body began to regenerate rapidly but it still could not keep up with Viz’s destructive force. His aura folded a thousand times and then a hundred thousand times and then 1 million times, and then two, and then three.

Viz felt this resistance and chuckled inwardly.

“I am a fighter through and through. I struggle and fight with a desperation you cannot possibly imagine.”

Kazuki then released his aura breath as well as aura strengthening. His strength and aura climbed to unprecedented levels.

“You are right I am a small mortal in your eyes but know this. I am the only chance you a God has of ever fulfilling your goals. Through me, you will be able to escape this prison of a city. Through me, you will travel the Realm and seek your adventure.”

Fusing a part of his magic, his aura, and ki. The three powers swirled and became chaotic as he created his death touch power. This power caused a change in Viz’s reaction. Viz felt a thrill for the first time in centuries and he instinctively used a fragment more of his power. This caused Kazuki’s hand to explode under the almighty force but his expression still did not change. Instead, he spoke.

“As for whether or not I will become more powerful than you. The answer to that is obvious.”

Kazuki’s hand that had exploded suddenly reformed and for a split second Viz could not sense it as it appeared seemingly out of thin air and his detached hand instantly grabbed Viz’s and gripped his hand back.

“Abso-fucking-lutely I will surpass you.”

Viz’ stared with wide eyes as Kazuki’s hand finally reattached itself to his arm. He thought he sensed Origin energy for a split second but he could not tell where it had come from. Kazuki’s hand that he destroyed had regenerated without him noticing and had appeared from out of thin air. Even though it was no longer attached to Kazuki, it was under his control and he used it to grip Viz’s hand as if he would shake it.

Viz didn’t know how Kazuki had done it and his curiosity was at its highest it had ever been.

(This mortal…He still had another card. Something even I who stood right in front of him could not detect in that split moment.)

Viz released Kazuki’s hand and Kazuki took a step back before taking a knee. His body was riddled with pain as a large portion of it had been destroyed. In that short exchange, it had crumbled and regenerated tens of thousands of times due to Viz’s overwhelming power. After half a month it was completely healed and Kazuki released a heavy breath.

He looked up at Viz and Viz was staring at his own hand in silence.

(Jentson’s power is strange but what is this sense I get? It did not feel natural. Add the fact that there was a glimmer of Origin energy…Does he have an artifact on him somewhere? Should I just say fuck it and take a look?)

Viz finally looked away from his hand and glanced at Kazuki but the moment he wanted to look into Kazuki’s soul world and reveal the mysteries that bugged him he stopped himself.

(No! If I do that there really will be no trust between us. This young mortal is filled with gifts. Not only in mind and body but he most likely holds an artifact of some kind. An artifact that actually managed to slip past my senses. What a powerful tool. This man is right, he is full of potential, an unmatched potential that even I cannot measure. My future in this place, the opportunity that I have been looking for, the way out of this prison of a city…It is through this man and this man alone. How many eons would I wait to come across such an individual again? It may never happen ever again even if my life is eternal. His mind is sharp, and from the memories, he showed me, his battle sense is well beyond his years. Add on the fact that he is well-versed in business and his future really is limitless. To see him as an equal…it makes sense.”

*Heh*

Viz finally released a light chuckle as he realized all of this.

“Jentson…do you know why I am alone?”

Kazuki stood back up before having a guess.

“I don’t know much about you but what I do know is you are one who does not like bullshit. Could this be the reason?”

Viz shook his head.

“In some sense no and in others yes.”

Kazuki was confused. Was he right or wrong then?

“Gods, we are weird beings. We all have our preferences and want what we want. Our desire…it is our biggest weakness. We will go to great lengths to achieve our goals. We do this to a maddening degree. So much so that after millions of years, even if one believes they cannot be corrupted or changed, it is only natural that one is. In the end, what you want is the most important and comes above all else. This easily causes friction with others when one’s goals or others’ goals become an obstacle to your own. I strive to fight and to seek out and explore the depths of the three Higher Realms. Those in this city are fine with living as overlords of these weaklings. I want out and they want to stay locked in this city and the three other major cities. A God is not someone who should want to rule over others but a being who is free beyond free. I want my freedom.”

Viz grabbed Kazuki by the shoulders.

“I will be your ally. Your trust…with me, it will not be broken. I will not look into your soul world and peer into your soul. Your secrets will stay safe and I will lend you my strength. In return, you will help me fulfill my dream of leaving this Godforsaken city and the edge of this Realm.”
