Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 127
Arc’s so-called negotiation was finished. The dull heavy sword and the blank book rose up slowly into the air in front of the frozen half-blooded stranger. Arc removed his power and time started up again for the half-blooded God. His unmoving expression twitched and pain started to spread through his body as his soul tree began withering once more.
At this very second, Divine energy erupted from both the sword and book and this power pierced into the depths of the man’s soul tree. The darkness surrounding his soul world, the withering of his soul tree, and the excrutiating pain dissipated and vanished as if it had never been.
(Kazuki, the artifacts have removed their power from the broken God. You can now heal him a bit more, though to heal him fully, that’s not happening anytime soon.)
Kazuki already understood this. He would be able to heal the broken God up to a certain point before his own strength simply would not be enough. It was not a quality type of situation, rather for a God, it would be a quantity problem.
(I know this. God’s use Divine energy as power. I can heal him until his soul reaches the Demigod stage, after that he will require countless Divine crystals. I literally can’t afford to heal him all the way or my wealth will run dry. At the same time though, I shouldn’t need to. Once he reaches the Demigod stage, he should be able to heal the rest on his own. Again though this needs a large amount of Divine energy. Divine energy that I am sorely lacking.)
Kazuki already had that part figured out though.
Once more, Kazuki sent his ki into the half-blood’s soul tree. This tie there was no overspill. His energy sank into the soul tree and churned like a raging river as it began to replenish and restore. The stranger felt a rush of power as his soul tree took on new life and grew tremendously. New branches and full leaves sprouted and expanded at a rapid rate. The blackness that was the man’s soul tree colored into a bright whitish grey.
Now that it came to this point, Kauzk could pour in some real power. he took out two Divine crystals and sent the energy within them to the depths of the man’s soul. The very moment this pure energy touched upon the man’s soul tree, the energy condensed and purified even further and his power rose like an ascending phoenix. Cold energy suddenly spread throughout the room and the floor and walls became coated in a thin layer of frost.
(So this man uses the element of water. There’s also a hint of darkness to it.)
The man felt a rush of power and his core expanded and condensed rapidly before cracking and exploding. As soon as it exploded the outpouring of energy reversed and rushed inward. A powerful pulling force took in not only all the energy that had left him but the energy in the surroundings as well.
Viz quickly put up a barrier to prevent the stranger from inadvertently stealing some of Kazuki’s energy.
“Thanks.”
“Just finish it. This is starting to become annoying.”
“Right. I’ll need you for the next part though.”
“Me?”
As the power reversed and gathered in the depths of the man’s soul world a new core formed. Kazuki no longer had to guide anything as the man’s own instincts took over. His mind, body, and soul became one and a moment later his body began to evolve as he entered the convergence stage.
Kazuki sank more and more energy into the man’s soul tree which cost him a great deal of Divine crystals. This cost though was negligent in the long run. As his soul was fed, it began to transform. The man’s memories were lost to him but his instincts allowed him to remaster the element of water. In this, the man easily stepped half a foot into Godhood and was now at the Demigod stage.
“Viz, the rest…Can you do it?”
Viz was annoyed but he complied.
“Of course. Step back and watch.”
Kazuki did just that. He had taken the man’s soul as far as he could at his current strength, now the man needed an amount of Divine energy that he simply could not supply. Even if Kazuki had billions of Divine crystals, it still would not be enough. The amount of divine power inside of a crystal and a God was truly like a puddle and a great ocean. It was something he just did not have. Viz on the other hand was a God and had plenty of energy.
The only thing this stranger needed now was an enormous amount of energy and Divine enlightenment. Viz began to provide his own energy to the man while the man’s expression went from energetic to a strange calm.
Kazuki had helped heal part of the man’s soul but as he did, he noticed there were still plenty of problems. He didn’t know how much the man’s memories had recovered and what was left out.
(Kazuki are you sure this will work? To reach Divine enlightenment once in a lifetime is something most cannot achieve. For him to do it now, under these circumstances…You realize how far-fetched that is right?)
(I know how impossible it may seem but Divine enlightenment is not something one easily forgets. If he experienced it once, and he remembers it…Is that something one can just forget?)
(No but this case is not so cut and dry. His soul was fairly damaged and with it so too were his memories. Even if he regains most of his memories, there only needs to be one missing piece in one section for the link to be broken and his way to Godhood cut off.)
Kazuki understood this.
(Arc, from what Lin and Alutra told me, divine enlightenment is the understanding of the laws or truths of the universe. Not all of them but at least one. As long as you can see through one truth of the universe, you will reach Divine enlightenment. This is where you come in.)
If Arc had eyebrows it would be raising both of them right now.
(Me, what is it you think I can do.)
Even though Arc sounded quizzical. By the end of its sentence, Arc sounded as if it were teasing Kazuki.
(Stop playing Arc, you know exactly what I am asking. All this bragging about you being some ultimate being. Going so far as to look down on actual Gods, you have to have received some enlightenment at some point right? Otherwise…just how great can you be?)
(Watch it. Do not try and antagonize me with such words.)
(I won’t mess with you if you stop messing with me. Right now I need a little help and you are teasing me. Can we stop bullshitting one another and just be on the same page.)
Arc was quiet before he questioned.
“The favors I have done for you are beginning to rack up, no? Just how much do you wish to owe me…Ka…Zu…Ki?”
Kazuki really didn’t care anymore. If he needed something then he needed something. Why act differently? he found it to be a time waster and wished to just get straight to it. At the same time, he found Arc to be way too arrogant.
(For someone who wants to find their missing piece so damn badly, you sure seem to be dragging your feet. You know this will help us both in the long run yet you want me to owe you something. Fine, whatever, I owe you, now that I’ve said it can you help or not?)
(You sure are vexing, you know that? I don’t even know why you asked me in the first place when Viz can do the exact same thing you are looking for from me.)
(Vexing maybe but wrong, no. As for asking Viz, you already know what the answer would be. Viz may have just become my ally but in order to help this half-blood reach Divine enlightenment, Viz would have to show him a piece of his memory. You know how Demigod’s and Gods get when you mention taking a peak at their souls. Their souls are their everything, their number one most valuable thing. To look at one is something even their most trusted loved one would never be allowed to do, let alone a complete and utter stranger. Viz knows it, I know it, and you as well.)
(So you expect me to be open instead?)
(I do. For your own sake, selfishly for mine. I expect you to cooperate and allow me to upgrade our allies. If that means letting them see a fragment of your…Soul so that we can have a better chance. Then yes, please reveal one truth to this half-blood and let our strength grow together so that we can overcome what lies before us.)
…
(Fine you annoying brat. The moment he touches Godhood, you will use your authority over his slave mark and forcefully make him forget what he has seen. he won’t need it after becoming a God anyway.)
